- If you said Traxxas should build a race car, then here you go, meet the Slash Modified (Originally released as the Slash Mudboss). The Slash has been used for various race platforms by enthusiasts, but now it comes out of the box ready to race on a dirt oval track. Traxxas didn’t just slap a Easter Dirt Modified body on a Slash and call it a day. No, there’s lots of new goodies to check out on this car and things that make it more tunable for racers. Greg goes over all the details on this new Slash RTR and hits the dirt oval track for some laps. Don’t have a dirt oval near you? You still should watch the video, trust me.

East coast guy goofed. I said Eastern Mod and it’s styled more like a MidWest Modified.
More like a IMCA modii
@@chuckstith1933🤷♂️Traxxas told me I got it wrong and the Midwest Modified is what they told me they modeled it after.
modified's are modified's. Horse power is the only difference.
Yeah it’s not a mudboss at all the body looks like sh!t honestly the actual mudboss looks 1000x better
@@shaynejenkins446 They are nothing alike. Midwest modifieds are closer to street stocks; stock car front clip, narrow tires, steel wheels, offset driver, cast iron engine. Eastern dirt modified is closer to a sprint car; full tube chassis, straight axle front end, centered driver, wide tires, aluminum wheels, quick change rear end, BIG cubic inch all aluminum engine.
I believe dirt oval is really taking off in the US from what I have been seeing so makes sense for the US market
They need to make a sprint car now.
Real
That would be epic!
I love the look of the wheels and tires I bet they would look good on the Slash
Same, would love to see if they fit my slash ultimate 4x4
As always good review/Traxxas content Greg. I'd like to see Traxxas come out with a Stadium Super Truck. Not based off a Slash chassis but say a scaled down UDR platform. For me that would be hard to resist. Like button energized.
And a new Slash spec class is born, love it!
ripped off
@@shaynejenkins446are you just going on every video to cry? Dam

No track near me but I like the idea of setting something up in a parking lot!
Yup, I was just at RC Madness, they plan to run the class on paved oval days. Few set-up tweaks and it will be a blast.
@@rcdriver They already run that class with home builds that will be way way better than tis.
@@shaynejenkins446 I am sure there are lots of people that would love to race these and not have to build there own.
Already got 6 versions of Slashes. 1 more cant hurt.
Nope, can’t hurt especially since you probably already have lots of support parts.
Ahhh RC Excitement track!!
Great upload!
Absolutely the best review I have seen.
And have have been watching them all.😂
Was the hot topic at our track last night.
Lots of people are getting one , myself included.
Will be a spec class for sure.
Take that pin out and install it in reverse. Fix has worked since the 1st gen stampede...
Correct, but still requires you to remove the transmission to put the pin in from the other side making future maintenance or repairs more labor intensive. The point was, they fixed everything else on the car. It would have been nice if they fixed the pin issue that has occurred “since the 1st gen Stampede.”
Nice oval rip… nice release! Going to get more people in the hobby for sure
Finally something new, yay🎉 pretty cool and different.
Man that thing looks just awesome!! Nice job traxxas!!!! Nice vid!! 😎👍
That looks sick. You got the color I would have gotten. Didn't take you too long to get used to it in the dirt. 30 is perfect for that car. Great video as always. Thank you. BTW, you and MSM posted this at almost the same time 😜
Consistency is key in D.O. I need more practice. 😆 We had a certain time slot we were allowed to post.
@@rcdriver makes sense.
Some guys brought some mudboss rigs to are local track very cool and they were 500 plus trucks ..i thought Traxxas might do this spmeday awesome just brilliant 😊
traxxas makes a rtr mudboss....gets me excited...ends up nowhere near mudboss class specs.....what else should i have expected.
It’s the traxxas way 😂
Don't you mean TRAXXAS make RTR RC rubbish 🤔 🤣🤣🤣 .
Tracks will add a class. The track I ran at ordered 30 and has already announced the racing class.
@@rcdriver I even think that given enough time, this lcg platform will take over. It’s gonna perform better. Old school guys will resist but eventually, I think it’ll be standard.
Thank you Traxxas...i been building one bt this is the way grab and play. 🎉🎉🎉🎉
Good review. I can see people liking those tires for a stock radial look for other vehicles too .
Another slash rejuvenation and fanagle some more of them out the door . Jack of all body styles
Great video, thanks for your insight. I race at RCE nice to see a local track like Madness get some love. I may buy myself one of these.
Damn. I was content with my R/C stable until this! 😂
Well i know what the boys will be getting for the holidays this year
I did some 1/8 nitro late model racing back in 2010, was an absolute blast
tires look dope
I hope losi builds one with a solid axle in the back. Super scale.
Hate Traxxas all you want.
But you cannot deny they are good at business.
Good at marketing. Traxxas is a marketing company that sells RC cars on the side 😂
They ripped off Eric Salvas.
Traxxas and Tamiya the only two companies that can charge full price for the same thing decade after decade after decade.
@@BlueDually4x4
Tamiya is because of nostalgia.
Traxxas because it's a solid platform.
@@BlueDually4x4 And Nintendo. And Bose. And Apple. And grocery stores. And...lots of others.
But you have to admit. Buying a RC and knowing you're pretty much guaranteed to be able to get parts for the next ten years, is pretty nice...
We run on a concrete oval at the Indiana State Fairgrounds (it's a quarter midget track). We'll probably have a Mud Boss stock class next year. I want to buy one in July and try it out right away.
As a retired dirt track racer - pure stock then modified - I absolutely love this and probably will end up with one just to tear up around baseball diamonds with the kid. However I wish the liveries weren't so... Traxxas. I hope to see an unpainted body that I paint and decal to make it look like my old Rocket chassis car.
They are available .
Bringing different platforms to the hobby (eventhoug it's based on a Slash) is always positive!
I'd like if Traxxas gave their bodies really different paint schemes. They all look the same. :p
Tracks will no doubt add a class. More racers getting into Oval the better. It’s a style thing 😆
I do hope they'll do a 4WD version as well for people who race in the open world. But for organized spec racing this 2WD is fantastic! 2WD is great for racing because you really have to drive, you can't just powerslide out of trouble on a turn as easily, and I respect that.
RTR "Mudboss"? It isn't legal in the Mudboss class...
Just another class to add to race nights.
I like it. They run dirt ovals 45 mins from my house. This is a great stock class RC. Price 🤷🏼 is relative to say.
Looks like Traxxas is watching their customer, and know what they want
People are still going to make a custom modified on their own and cheaper.
Who?? I've not heard a single person ask for this. I know for positive it's not for me. Granted I don't know everyone in the world but I do have a large RC circle. I've not even heard a mention on CZcams or the forums.
@@boduke9428 I am very sure that traxxas knows far more people in the rc community and they would not build this if they didn't see the demand.
@@MagnifiedGiant I really, truly believe that Traxxas knows they have a certain rabid fan base that will pay whatever they charge for anything they build. They've proven exactly that recently starting with the snap on car to this. I don't care, it's none of my business. I just wish they'd go back to building good cars for the mass audience.
@@boduke9428
I didn’t know I needed one, but for the racing I do with friends, this would work very well in that parking lot. Before anybody mentions price, I have a Bandit that I built to run there from nothing but a pile of mostly RPM parts and know I spent more than $380 on that and this is pretty comparable to my Bandit.
Definitely neat for oval racing. I'll stick with my 4wd though 👍
Pretty darn kool car!🏁🏁🏁
Reminds me of the Dreadnok Thunder Machine from Cobra/GI Joe in the 80's
Nice!
We have two oval tracks in town, and another 1hr away. These have already almost sold out on preorders. Spec class is going to be fun.
tq remote on this is crazy
My LHS is planning on adding an oval track near their main track and I’m almost certain these things are gonna be driven there a lot. I love going to true modified races and it would be awesome to race it in RC. Don’t quite have the budget for a new RC right now sadly
I LOVE dirt oval !!!!!
Nothing like a Midwest modified with the rear 4 bar suspension set up my dad races a real mod .
Whoah!
Nice job
Amazing RC Car 🏎️🚙💨
I want one and will probably buy one but it shouldnt cost as much as what a 4x4 vxl stampede used to be. For being rwd 2s.
Unless u have a dirt oval near and maybe some kids that are getting into the hobby I see running a few packs and it being sold online really hoping for a 4wd bandit or a 1/16 sledge or maybe a Traxxas 1/24 crawler
With TSM you can push it harder
Anyone know if these tires (rears obviously) would fit on the Slash 4x4 body? Or are they to wide and would hit it. Cheers
Does this car have the capability of running larger 3s or 4s batteries
Looks great for oval. I also race figure 8 and I don't see this body and mounts holding up for that.
It’s not a Mudboss and that title has caused a lot of butt hurting but I like it and definitely want it for SC Mod. Bloodline RC and Oval RC did a joint review and unboxing on Marks channel. They ran it and had the same push. Mark did couple turns on the right rear shock to stiffen it up and that loosened it up a bit and that easy adjustment made the difference and you could actually see the slight sliding that brought him around better. That right there sealed the deal for me. I want it!
Love it.
Very cool
I’m getting this one way or the another
The back panels are mint to be that flimsy
It is called imca dirt modified here in Central Nebraska
Few years behind would of been nice to of had this option in 2012 to 2014 when I raced dirt oval rc I started with a slash and quickly traded it for a used sc10 because of the high center of gravity the slash had fast truck but rolled to easy this out of the box without much work would of been competitive for a fraction of what it cost to build one from scratch
The chassis alone is worth is. Buying it and selling the body to build a really solid Slash with a faster motor. Possible speed build base.
Looks like the drag car are going on a cut back who saw this coming. Still pretty cool though from factory
When it's available with a north eastern dirt modified body. I'll buy it
I might have to get this and put 3s power into it
Salvas brothers created the original MUDboss!!
yea some last night said this i think they were spot on .... this should have been called MODboss
Should look up a parma mudbus
Aw man i need those wheels
Traxxas defo make there body skins on Iracing default paints lol
Dick Darstardly springs to mind...loving it!
Would it be good for speed runs? Probably better than a regular slash?
Only the advantage this would have would be the LCG chassis. That dirt mod body is going to be heavy with the plastic inner structure.
And in my experience short course trucks are never a great choice for “speed runs” after 45mph they’re really prone to blowing over backwards.
@@chevyon37sThat's why I was thinking the body would keep it on the ground better.
Might get one of these... but no track here.
No surprise that Traxxass would steal this idea from someone else. Eric Salvas created this class.
And he stole the idea from a million dirt modified racers over the last 40+ years...what's your point
ok who cares? he is a nobody that barley anyone knows Traxxas can do any rc class they want you can't copy right a class of racing
@@R_E_D22 casual
But it’s okay for Traxxas to sue companies for using revo style shock layouts that they also didn’t invent💪
Not going to lie, I want one
The king of hugliness
Very cool they put something out for the class. To be honest, I'm not a fan or NASCAR, so driving in an oval sounds as exciting as watching it. Great review as always!
🔥🔥🔥🔥
The colour choices and colour matching is very cool, love the look of the pink one
i cant wait
How to dial in so dont push?
So a real mudboss is made to look like a center steer northeast mod and traxxas uses the same name and gives us a ump style modified?
They can’t make what’s already established. They need to make it different for its own class to sell more.
😂 making a left turn... Pro
needs an optional OBA !!!
losi had a good sprint car years ago
Great video. Yes I agree this should help tracks bring in some new racers. Great win for the hobby and local tracks .
Where's all the haters with their expert opinions
Just wait.....their coming......lol
3..2...1.. Aaaand.. there they are. Had nó idea whatsoever what this weird-looking Slash was supposed to be. But the butt-hurt comments here.. màn... 🤣
I think it looks awesome
But will the wheels and tires fit a Slash 4x4?
They may have different offsets. Traxxas tends to do that with 2wds.
You have to buy all fronts or all rears, but it should work
im prety sure its understering couse all weght is in the back not the front
🔥🤘💪
Wait, how is this even possible? I thought Losi said 2wd is too hard to drive around an oval which is why they made their new NASCAR AWD. Looks like Horizon needs to clean house and get some new designers.
I doubt they said that I would say it's more difficult because the rear likes to step out which is gonna be even worse because traxxas refuses to use sway bars
Thats a cool little car!
Definitely adding one to the stable!
Looks like its gonna be awesome
For this kind of money the only thing that they should also give you is a TQI radio controller
Thats so cool, I definitely want to get the orange one!
Very nice
🔵🔵🔵🙂🙂🙂👍👍👍🔵🔵🔵
Do we know the price yet? Or did I miss it
380.00
This is awsome!!! Great job TRAXXAS, and another great informative video brother!
Its ripped off
@@shaynejenkins446 ya know the old saying about opinions?
I think this kinda points out my problem with Traxxas, they saw people doing something and built an RTR that doesn't fit into the rules forcing people to buy more parts or change the rules. Just because Traxxas said to. This sounds like the Slash got an update to some parts and someone thought a Dirt Oval body would be cool.
I only comment to support Greg and the channel, not Traxxas.
we need a good setup offroad racing setup bandt
mini b is loads better
@@colbemugen9932 it isn't 1/10th scale
Sure I could be negative and talk about how it's Traxxas and it's overpriced but to be honest with you it's not a bad move if you want to get into oval racing and you want a decent RC it's probably going to cost around this price so I'd have to say it's a smart move for them and it looks like it's a lot of fun I guess the the biggest issue you're going to have is convincing a bunch of your buddies to get some more rigs or to pay $400 for a bunch of these you know I don't know if it's going to be that popular and that's going to be the the biggest restriction
There’s a maxx bandit 1/7 scale coming save your money that’s all I’m sayin remember the maxx slash? Yea it wasn’t a hoax
Needs some help from castle creations for more power ….😊
Track rental, oops! meant traxxas. In all honesty if you owned a hobbyshop/track what other brand would it be
