- With a lot of hard work from me and my brother and some huge favors and invaluable help from many amazing friends and family, we worked our buts off to make this film what it is.
This video shows nearly all the scenes during the shoot and how we achieved the effects that we did.
It was shot on a low qulaity camera but we are indebted to out 1st AD Tiago Inacio for shooting all of this footage for us during the shoot. Without it, we would have no record of the great time we spent shooting this film.
Although it was hard work and stressful at times, this was massively outweighed by the sheer volume of laughs that we had and it seemed that almost every shot was accompanied by excitement, achievement, joy and at many time uncontrollable and hysterical fits of laughter!
We hope it gives you an insight in to making a low budget film and that you enjoy the making of "The Jigsaw" - Krátké a kreslené filmy
I'm sorry, but I had to comment, again(as I'd commented on the actual film prior to watching this "Making Of").. I am truly blown away at the talent, and DIY skills you guys have! To learn that only a year prior you sought out how to go about making a film is absolutely UNBELIEVABLE! My jaw dropped on several occasions while watching the "making of".. I'm really kinda befuddled and lacking in finding a way to even articulate my awe and admiration for your work here, on this film. I won't drone on and on, but I had to comment, and again say, this film CANNOT be praised enough! Kudos, Kudos, Kudos to y'all. I'm dumbstruck as to how you guys went about making this, mainly due to the fact that the end result is just so.. well, its quite honestly just perfect!
Please don't apologize for commenting :) It is an absolute honor to have people take a genuine interest in our film making. Your comments are simply awe inspiring! I'll be honest and say that I am one of those people who just throws myself into things very very deeply and that year before making it, I was fortunate enough to have some major time on my hands and wanted the film to be perfect! (you saying that it is is just soooo amazing!)
The funny thing is that necessity is truly the mother of invention and we are living in a time where film making tech is becoming cheaper and better than ever! we literally only learned the exact skills required to make this particular film and the beauty of the internet is that you can type anything into CZcams and find out exactly what you are looking for! Even top DOP's that are making Hollywood blockbusters are sharing their skills on here! Its an amazing time to learn anything...fast!
When planning and blocking this film we reached for the stars and no matter how outlandish some techniques seemed, we did everything within our power to make it happen! We did not compromise on how we wanted to tell the story and that took a whole year of planning and prep to make a reality. I'm not sure that most amateur film makers would have the time to do this but for us, it was simply all or nothing!
We are so proud of what we achieved in that year though and the great thing is, is that this film is building up some real momentum on CZcams which means that all that work will live on, entertain and be appreciated by probably millions of people for years to come! I don't think there can be a better rewards than that, (Aside from a huge producer coming along and funding our next script ;)
Your comment and enthusiasm for our film is simply amazing and trust me when I say. It means so so much!
Our deepest gratitude!
Can you please tell me how can I watch this movie? I am having trouble finding it.
Here you go Dana, my bad! I thought we were on the film. Just click this link czcams.com/video/gs5zQBBOXrA/video.html&lc=z12audzo5pjfhptgj04cgrer5tqiubuzfs40k.1498621891935726
+The Jigsaw Thank you!
Yes, I also have to comment again. My brother and sister in law are teachers, one a lit and the other an spanish teacher and both are always looking for new films to show their students to open discussion about technique and etc.. This one is a winner and can't wait to hear what their classes reactions. Again guys, TERRIFIC and thank you!
The bizarre was so well done! When I saw the original I thought about how difficult it may have been to shoot. The shop was amazing! I can’t get those beautiful art deco lamps on either side of the clock out of my mind. Set design was perfection. Finial casting as well! Thank you for showing us behind the scenes.
This videos inspires me to fall in love with films the way I used feel about films before like everything is magical.😇
So honored! Thanks for watching :)
I enjoy watching the "making of" videos. Jigsaw is one of the best horror shorties I have seen to date. Its one of those movies that "stays with you" long after you have seen it. It's one of those flicks that you want to keep watching over and over ...........
Ahhh that's so nice and I always wonder about that, because I as the director watch it all the time with pride and am always surprised at just how much it still grabs my attention and keeps me watching. I am the kind of person who watches movies that I like over and over again though but I think to myself, I must be bias as It is my film! But hearing you say that you do too is simple wonderful! Thanks so much for your comment! :)
God is super clever, humble and such gave this person the knack of producing such an amazing short film , lets he and his team get the acclaim. Glory be to his will !
In complete awe. Watching the actual film was one thing, but seeing how you guys brought it all to life just blew me away. Thank you for sharing. After watching this, I'm feeling completely inspired. :)
That's Amazing Leeza! So happy to have inspired you and wish you the best in all your life's endeavors! :)
Wow
U did this n it looks completely different in the movie
Transformed everything to get that environment
They call it movie magic
Great job
Thanks so much! and yes film is a magical illusion! and if that illusion captures and audiences emotions! You can consider that a job well done! :) Thanks for your lovely comment
Congrats - great work. It's incredible to see how much work goes into the simplest scene. My favourite scene was the camera moving into the car - had such a really lovely feel to it. I know nothing about film making but I really enjoyed that.
Thanks you so much Madge and yes, I too knew nothing about film making before this film. I spent a year learning from some talented film makers and knowledgeable people on CZcams. Film making really is a lot of work to create an illusion that evokes emotion within people. The sign of a successful film in my humble opinion is, did you manage to make people feel the way you wanted them to? If the answer is yes, you can be proud indeed!
It's hard enough making a serious work of art with a large budget, staff and time. The ingenuity to pull that off with so very little is a testament to your skill at telling a compelling story...and will hopefully serve as inspiration for other up-and-coming filmmakers with imagination and vision far surpassing their financial means.
that's truly a heart warming comment for us! thank you so much!
Thank you for this! INCREDIBLE job! Very inspiring!
So humbled to inspire anyone! Appreciate your kind words greatly!
Absolute masters at work! the short was a MASTERPIECE
Utterly thankful for your comment!
Oh man. Seeing this makes me appreciate the film even more. You guys really worked magic with what you had
Thank you!
I liked the movie itself a lot already, but I like it so much more after seeing how you managed to create the various effects on a tight budget. Well done!
Awesome. Your efforts and dedication is appreciable. Keep it up.
LOVE this. Very inspiring. That shot of the camera "zooming out" from the puzzle is a masterful camera motion!
took us so long as amateurs to nail that! One thing to have it in your head, another to execute
Appreciate you comment so much!
That was amazing and shows that with planning and hard work it can be achieved with almost no crew. 👏 bravo!!! Inspired indeed.
Thanks so much! There certainly was a lot of planning that went into it. We had every single shot locked down before the shoot and it was as simple as putting an efficient schedule together and piecing the edit together, just like a puzzle ;) Executing the shots was not so simple through and I won't even guess at how many takes that final dutch roll shot tool!
I saw jigsaw..more than 100 times.u nw wt u dne fabulous job....eager to see urs next project.
I loved the film and now I am doubly impressed after watching the "making of" feature. Your team has a bright future in film making, in my humble opinion. I'll be looking for more :)
Thanks for your support Susan, It would be awesome if you could share our film with friends as it really helps us get noticed as film makers.
Wow you guys are ingenious! I really enjoy behind the scenes stuff. Shows you don't need a majorly crazy budget to get things done. My critique still stands and as you was filming to the score I can now see why I felt the way I did as it diverged off the pace and mood of the beginning, but please don't see it bad, because honestly your vision/cinematography is POWERFUL, you don't NEED music. Best of luck! Bright future I believe in store.
Oh Wow Luther! That's such a lovely comment. Thanks for your kind words and support! :)
great work... i hope to see more of your works
Thanks and appreciate you taking your valuable time to watch.
brilliant short and loving this making of :)
So nice if you to take an interest Mavis. We worked so hard on it so it means a lot. Thanks for watching!

Wow good job ....
great stuff. would invest in a kickstarter for the next project.
That's a really cool Idea! Thanks!
You're great about being social with your fans:)
Thanks! to have fans at all is humbling so we are honored to be social and hopefully inspire others to make films
It’s fucking awesome 👏
Which camera did you guys used for making this film?? And which app did you guys used for intros and editing I want to know please help..
It was a canon 5D and we used premiere pro and after effects but im afraid that wont help you much :) These are just tools and the results depend on how you use them
Just h.264 with the Cine D profile for some extra latitude. Thanks a lot but I fear you may be focusing to much on unimportant things when it comes to telling a story through film. The camera was virtually irrelevant other than what its form factor allowed us to do with it.
@D we just installed the cine profile to get a little more dynamic range
What Camera was used in this wonderful short film, and whats settings was used?
It was a Canon 5D mark iii with a 24-70 usm lens for pretty much the whole film. We used the cini style profile setting i think for some extra dynamic range and a flatter gradeable image if I remember right but in my humble opinion, it could have been a t2i and the film still would have been as good! the camera adds around 2% to the film if you ask me. Unless your using something completely terrible of course! which could still work if your making a blair which type film :)
A Canon 5D mark iii 23.976 fps 1/50 shutter cini style picture profile with a 24-70 usm lens but I'll be honest and say the camera was a very very small part of what makes this film. Thanks for your interest and for watching our film
Thats amazing, you did great job🤙👏👏👏🎬📽
would you mind if I made a short on the same concept? :D beautifully done
free world! go make whatever you love!
this was adapted from other people's genius and ideas, that's life!
Super
The color grading is amazing...looks like a big budget shot on film. What application did you use if you don't mind sharing.
Just premiere pro for the grading. Just spent a lot of time learning grading and visual effects from Andrew Cramer at Video Copilot. Hes a legend! Tried to just match all the shots with a nice browny red vibe but honestly the set decoration costumes etc. went a long way to making the colour grade easier and marrying up the shots. Thanks so much for watching and it would mean the world to us if you could share it with friends as we just want the world to enjoy this short story.
What camera was the movie shot with?
A canon 5D mark iii but that was pretty irrelevant in terms of what made this film
That’s even cooler that you shot with that, very good work!
Thanks! Only way we could make it on the budget with the kinds of shots we were doing
Which camera did u use?
5D see the making of here czcams.com/video/oigprQHUI7Q/video.html
