Knowing whether or not your child has a diagnosable challenge, can be almost impossible...

Specifically, what to look for and what steps to take if you think your child may have autism.

Keep in mind, just because your child exhibits some of the symptoms we describe in this video... it does NOT mean that they have autism or ASD.
It's important to seek a professional autism evaluation if you feel your child does indeed have ASD.
Also, we discuss this in the video... but it's VITAL to understand that if your child does have autism, or another learning disability... getting a proper evaluation will most definitely lead to them getting the assistance they need to reach their excellence!
We hope you are able to gain some insight from this video. If you have any questions regarding autism or any other aspect of special education... please, leave a comment :)
    Thank you

I think I might have autism? Now that I'm older, thinking back to my childhood, I showed pretty strong signs.
-I hated change! Back when I was young, we went to a specific church for an event called 'Awana'. And when we had to go to a different church for Awana, I had taken the longest time getting used to the new routine and accept it. I hated it.
-I hated working in social groups, especially when it came to learning and playing. Why should I be with other kids my age anyway? When I can LITERALLY do it myself? Now I feel pressured to do it, because apparently I might die alone with that kind of thinking. I like working alone, even now.
-I couldn't find a point in a subject I...didn't even like. Even when my mom tried intervening, I felt...both frustrated and annoyed. Math was a big one, it wasn't until Geometry (because of shapes and structures, since I really liked art related subjects) that I was FINALLY able to catch on.
-I was EXTREMELY honest. One time I called a girl short, and legitimately couldn't see the problem with it. My dad had to take me to the side to explain it to me.
-I had(have) strange behaviors. I went on my tippy toes and could do it without even realizing it. I ran and waved my hands in a way other kids thought as 'weird'.
There's a lot more, but I feel like you get the right idea. I still show some symptoms even today, but again you get the idea.

It not always as simple as seeking a professional diagnosis. They can be very expensive and the waiting lists are years long.

I couldn't find a video if you have information on eating disorders in ASD children. Great videos and information, by the way.
