It says a lot that Anaya feels comfortable and open enough to have this conversation with you. I can’t imagine how my parents would have approached this chat with me or my siblings. These conversations are so healthy and as she gets older she will know she can come to you to talk. You are handling it really well.

😭😭😂 you know my mom use to fuss my dad down when we would have a “crush” lol she’d always say nobody can tell you feelings but you. More of the reason would be because she LOVES love loll but honestly I can say, regardless of the heartbreak and the lows of love sometimes I can see at all times that it’s okay to love love loll it’s okay to feeeeel and it’s okay to hurt because of love just to open yourself back up to love again. It’s given me the love I have today! It’s awesome she’s open with it seriously 💕💕
You're on the right track. I was listening to a segment on the radio about parents who wanted Godly wisdom on their son, a 9th grader, having a girlfriend. The answer was no because at that age the child should be shown how to have healthy and effective communication with others, how to build healthy relationships within their community. The girlfriend thing will push them into adult situations that they are not even ready for. You got this! Loving one another as the Lord loves. But the biggest things is teaching her and showing what it is to love herself in a healthy way so she can love others.

I know it’s ALOT and you’re going to HAVE to keep on explaining this over and over. My parents didn’t explain all of the above enough or well enough. It wasn’t until I was much much older that I finally understood what they were talking about and I had to admit (whispers) they were RIGHT!

I don't think you need to worry. I always had a crush on some boy since I was 6. Constantly dreaming about someone I knew that sometimes wasn't even checking for me lol. Did I naively think I was in love? Of course. But my dad taught me to only date men that loved Jesus, and I always knew he was right. So the first guy I liked that met that criteria, I dated when I was 19. Anaya is clearly thinking about love and marriage because you and Yvette model it so well, like you said. She will be just fine with you two as her parents ❤

I love this. You ALWAYS want your daughter to talk to you about the boys she’s into. She should feel comfy comin to you. My dad is great, but I didn’t feel comfy to tell him that I liked a boy at all… I, like many girls, were taught to “avoid” boys or talkin about them. Which is counterintuitive tbh.
