      @@jacobhauenstein I'm looking at the merc racing heat exchanger, how efficient is it compared to the APR, REVO, Alpha or forge motorsport ones, also I definitely want the uprated pump, but can you use any uprated pump for this? Do you have a link for a good pump to work with the merc racing heat exchanger?

    • @jacobhauenstein
      @jacobhauenstein Před 4 lety +1

      @@TheCinderellaman10 I haven't seen any scientific tests, but I know that the Merc is easily as good as the APR CPS. The only one that might be better is the Alpha one, but not because the heat exchanger itself is better, just because it comes with many extras and a reservoir. The whole purpose is to keep IAT's down, and the merc does. Also, I cannot think of the pump upgrade off the top of my head but there is an audizine forum explaining it. It's not a major upgrade, and right now most tunes will make your stock pump run at 100% to flow as much as possible. In my tune it goes to full duty cycle any time you are over 2000rpm. You can use any pump that will communicate with the car, you dont need a specific pump for merc that doesnt work on others, all the HX's work the same. Spending more than 700$ on one doesnt make sense to me though: you could get the merc, and do a water methanol injection setup and have results better than a 2000$ standalone kit. Or, if you are being convinced to buy the Alpha kit which is really $$$, you could buy a Killer Chiller and have below ambient temps.

    • @TheCinderellaman10
      @TheCinderellaman10 Před 4 lety

      @@jacobhauenstein I personally wouldn't spend £2k plus on the Alpha, it's a great piece of kit but like you said others can do a good job and save money to put into other supporting mods, the merc racing heat exchanger is only around £500 in uk from a place in Scotland and I'm sure they can acquire the pump and reservoir also. I would be saving around £1k compared to Alpha and APR. Btw did you cut the wire from the pump for it to run in emergency mode at 100% or was it programmed into your tune?

    • @jacobhauenstein

    Paul! - i have a HUGE PROBLEM !!! I own the 2017 GTI Clubsport MK7 bought from factory with the Halogen lights. I want to get either Helix LEDs for MK 7.5 to fit into my MK 7.0 GTI Clubsport. VW say they cant do it, would cost a fortune. Iv asked two of the biggest car part dealers in germany online, they checked my VINS (Chassis Number) Even they said the Hella OEMs dont fit my car because diffrent OEM numbers... Is it possible to get this to work for my MK 7.5 Clubsport 7.0? IF it works? What exactly do i need more than the Headlights itself, for a proper installation? 🤔

    I ve heard this stage 3 dual pulley destroys the Catalytic Converter....true? thoughts? fixes?

      Yep. Heard you have to go catless. Looking to confirm.

      I mean I can’t confirm from first hand experience yet (hopefully later this month) but from everything I’ve heard and seen (I’m absolutely obsessed with the b8.5 and have been watching videos since 2014) you absolutely need to remove the cats/go straight piped. The cats cannot handle more than stage 1, maybe 2, and even that is welcoming disaster. Better to just get downpipes/full exhaust done and then full send with stage iii and upgraded blower/throttle body

    • @HuheJass
      @HuheJass Před 3 lety

      @@marksimpson4377 I’m gonna go with yes, unfortunately. I’m assuming you live in a state that requires emission testing, if that is the case it’s going to be Very hard to go stage iii and still be legal. You could go stage ii and replace the cat if it fails before inspection but that could get expensive fast

    Feeling pretty torn between a b9 or modded 8.5.

      B9 S4's are gonna be so much better for modding... ONCE they crack the ECU on those.

      We are under the impression the B9 doesnt have a lot of room left for tuning, but that remains to be seen

    Any crank pulley set for 2.0 tfsi Paul? 🤔😬

    • @GOOGLM3_NY

      No as it would yield you nothing. 2.0 tfsi is a turbo car not supercharged. Exhaust vs belt driven from the crank.

      Heat exchanger especially with dual pulley is a must, would also alleviate back pressure with hfc's or catless downpipes, I would recommend getting the heat exchanger with pump and reservoir even with single pulley, they produce heat soak and personally dont want to be waiting for temps to lower all the time just to do another run

    I don't want to worry you but there are stage 1 S4's with flex fuel e85 pushing more power tnah this, a friend of mine is pushing 504 with just a stage 1 on full e85, another one is pushing 523 with just a 189mm pulley on e85

      It depends on the tune. Every tuner calls it something different. iE is dual pulley, APR is stage 2+. Unitronic is stage 3.

      Jeff Cain I agree with you, if the SC Pulley is also Unitronic’s (and the new Crank pulley 187mm) they’re only spinning at a 3.2ish ratio, barely pushing the SC’s stock “efficiency” range at top RPMs... With upgraded cooling it is known you could go well past that Pulley(s) ratio.
      Shame Unitronic for trying to claim “stage 3” when in reality this is just as other’s “Stage 2+”.
