    ECS Tuning's Audi brand engineer Kevin Ferraro explains in detail how to install a super charger pulley on to a B8 3.0T Q5. This DIY features our 57.6mm press fit supercharger pulley that will increase supercharger drive speed leading to increased boost. It also features standardized SAE J1459 groove shape, 4140 steel construction for durability ,gloss black E-coat with engraved ECS logo for corrosion resistance and appearance, increases supercharger drive ratio from 2.56 to 2.82 with stock crank pulley and is compatible with most Stage 2 ECU tunes. With our ECS crank pulley the ratio increases to 3.25!
    This pulley fits the following:

    I recently installed my ecs upper pulley and found it much easier to just remove the supercharger from the car. It only took a total of 1.5 hours start to finish. And you can do some preventative maintenance while the supercharger it removed, such as thermostat, PCV valve, carbon cleaning etc.

    Could I upgrade the pulley and get the stage 2 software later on or does that have to be at the same time?

      @Moe1985 Před 3 lety +1

      You can. Installed the pulley last week and been hammering the car without a stage 3 tune 😂

    There is no need for taking off the front bumper and put the front in service mode!
    Just detach the lock for the bonnet and you have space enough!
    But learn from my mistake. Heat the pulley to 250 degrees Celsius and have the oven just next to the car! If not it will cool off to much and get stuck before it all the way on the axel!

    So I was going to purchase and install pulley while doing water pump/thermostat. Can it be ran without tune with no errors until stage 2 is purchased? I hear no real gains and just works the bypass a bit more until tuned.

    Why not just cut the pulley off with a cutoff wheel ? like on a v cut into the pulley....And install new pulley?
    I think I am going to fabricate a tool to get into the vee that I cut into the pulley to break the last remnants of thickness on the pulley...hopefully 15 minute job....bake the other new pulley
    and slide it on with the new belt

    Do you need the pulley removal tool

      I would strongly recommend it.
      Tried without, used ball joint pullers. It worked but damages your original pulley and was not the most fun.

      No, but it may be wise to replace it while you’re in there. We just released the red kevlar one that was used in the video:

    What exactly do I need add to tune it to stage 2?

    • @roge6675
      @roge6675 Před 2 lety

      Upgrade either the crank or SC pulley, I'd recommend the crank pulley and then flash with any software that supports stage 2, 034, IE, APR, Unitronic, it's your choice really. Also you'd ideally want to add a heat exchanger and be ready for cats to go blow considering the extra heat produced.

      @ecstuning  Před 3 lety +1

      On our test car with only the supercharger pulley, we saw max gains of 64 WHP and 53 WTQ with an IE stage 2 tune. Once we installed the crank pulley in combination with the supercharger pulley, we had max gains of 98 WHP and 95 WTQ! Appropriate stage 2 software is required for use.
