  • I'm now fabricating chassis' for Nolatone amplifiers in house. One challenge was to reinforce the corners. When I was having chassis done by a sheetmetal fab shop they welded the corners, which is great, but on rare occasions when the amplifier was horribly abused (dropped) I've seen the corner next to the power transformer crack down the weld.
After extensive research and experimentation with various forms of reinforcement, I've decided solid aircraft rivets with aluminum angles provides the strongest reinforcement. Here I'm testing on a scrap of angle on a test chassis. Just one rivet on each side of a corner. You can see, the metal may bend, but the rivet won't be breaking!
