listen if you think the comments are lying they’re not. My ps4 used to sound like a spaceship when i was on fortnite. After this video and cleaning my ps4 with a can of air and thermal paste. My ps4 is so quiet i didn’t even know it was on when i played fortnite. this video really works
I can confirm. Worked for me too, even tough the silence lasted only couple months for me.
I can definitely confirm this did this today and shits a fucking silencer. Worth trying fr 🤞🏼
Lmfao omg bro I hope this works for me
@@SAM-2772 yup gotta be extra careful broski
Same
The comments here are not exaggerated, my PS4 went from leaf blower to virtually SILENT. I expected some improvement but never this much. Amazing tutorial and really simple to do! I would suggest Arctic Silver 5 paste BTW, amazing stuff.
just used arctic silver 5, had to open it up and make sure fan was plugged in
Arctic MX-4 might be better because of it properites. It doesn't react with electricity or something like that. I dunno if Silver 5 is good for tight spaces like laptops or consoles. I was using Silver 5 for my PC.
LEAF Blower!!! 🍃 🤣
@@OlSkunGun it’s all the same I believe. With silver you need to be doubly careful that it doesn’t leak out the sides when you put the cooler on (that could cause a short). Basically just don’t use too much and it’s fine 👍
@@OlSkunGun "It doesn't react with electricity or something like that"
NA education XD
Holy crap! I didn't really expect replacing the thermal paste would work but my Ps4 finally came in for its landing and no more too hot warnings and shutdowns without warning. Thank you very much!
No way you also go the too hot warnings
I just cleaned my PS4 for dust, and it still sounds like a jet. And i never get too hot warnings or anything. Is it worth changing the thermal paste?
This made the biggest difference in the ps4 that I have had for 8 years! It was so loud for as long as I can remember and started over heating to the point where I couldn’t play CoD on it. Now I’m shocked by how quiet it is! Thank you
Good, concise guide that I used to replace the thermal paste on my second hand PS4! It really did sound like a hair-dryer before, and after I had to check the fan was even running it was so quiet!
Used your other video for the ps4 pro and just used this for my kids ps4 standard. Cleaned down and replaced thermal paste (grizzly Kryonaut). Awesome video, clear to follow, great quality to pause and review. Helped me in stopping the ps4 sound like a jet engine. Left the ps4 on the cod multilayer load screen and no jet engine sound :-)
Best PS4 tear down video I've come across. Brilliant.
took me three hours, but my ps4 is as quiet as ever now. really great guide, no hiccups. although i had a small black screw that held the motherboard to the frame, but its easy to find and take out. thank you.
100 percent the real deal ...just did it on my ps4 and now it doesn't sound like an air plane anymore lol ... thing was dusty as hell...thanks again from the Caribbean
Awesome video dude, very professional and finally showing the optimum way of applying thermal paste.
THANK YOU! I just revived my Launch Day PS4 and it’s performing like it did out of the box. 9 years of dust, dried out thermal paste, and poorly placed thermal pads were choking it.
Late reply, but I sincerely want to thank you for this excellent guide. I just performed this myself today and your video was excellent and straightforward. The only obstacle I had was that I was unable to disconnect the power supply from the board, but I was able to support it vertically without stress on the wires and do it that way. It runs fantastic, and even the Wi-Fi connection seems more secure. Thank you so very much!!!
After what seemed like forever, this solved my girlfriends 747 airplane...sorry, PS4 from being incredibly loud. Not only was the fan dirty but the lack of thermal grease needed much attention. I no longer have to worry about my ears bleeding at the end of her multi hour gaming sesh's which also seemed like time stayed still until the PS4 turned off. Thanks dude.
Your videos are so well put together, image is very clear and I love the music paired with all your videos! Thank you so much!
Thanks for your support!
Great tutorial. Really easy to follow, PS4 now works (and sounds) like new.
Great tutorial, was pretty easy to do in the end. I had an extra screw near the wifi connector but nothing else differed.
Just got a PS4 from my cousin. It was corrupted and i reinstalled the bios and wiped it clean, the fan was sounding loud like an airport, this video helped me out a lot. Thank you so much, it's much quieter now!
Brilliant guide to disassemble. clean, add thermal paste and put all back together. I had some trouble detaching the power supply cable attached to the motherboard and was worried putting it all back together that it somehow might no longer work. No need to worry - running like a dream now. thanks for the videos!
Great breakdown! My ps4 is running silent now!! Thank you! One thing different on mine was around the 3:45 mark when the power source was removed, there was a black screw holding the motherboard to the heat sink plate. You will need to remove it to separate the panel from the mother board. It was to the left by the cables you unplug before flipping over. I hope this helps someone.
I noticed your ps4 did not have this screw.
Ty so much
I also hade this screw, good thing i triple check everything so i dont screw Up :p
thank you! it did help me!
Thank you, helped me today :-)
Awesome video! All I needed was a little tool kit, a can of air and new thermal paste. Followed this tutorial and now my PS4 is dead silent. Bought it in 2014 and it is still going strong. Even better after this little tune up.
Great Video, before couldnt even run a game ps4 would shut down. Now ran a whole game and stayed dead silent, thanks man.
I have my PS4 since 2015. After the first year it became very noisy. Thanks to your tutorial I fixed it. Now it is:
- hard to hear on apps like Disney+
- slightly audible in games. (It was horrible before fix)
Thank you very much!
One of the best tutorials on CZcams! Thank you so much managed to fix my overheating issues! 🙌🏾
Thank you so much for making this video, this helped me so much cleaning my 7 years old og ps4, i cleaned all the dust and changed the thermal paste, and now it doesn't make a sound.
I just cleaned and put thermal paste on my son's PS4 and it sounds like a dream and works fantastic thanks for the help!!!
Best tutorial I’ve seen on in this I used arctic Mx4 instead but the results have been great ps4 is quiet even during more intense games like cod and apex!
Can please send the link for the artic thermal paste
@@Moebeastz just Google it, or on Amazon.
I personally recommend Arctic Silver 5, but both this and the mx4 are good enough!
@@Nerokennedy99 artic silver 5 is old, there are better paste out there
Worked for me! Make sure you have all the tools. I somehow messed up with the fan cable connected to the mother board (white plastic cover was removed) but luckily it is still working. PS4 is now less louder than before. First time to replaced thermal paste after 6 years.
How much would you say it's quieter now in percentage wise? Are the jet sounds gone if you know what I mean lol?
I rarely comment on videos. But thank you so much my ps4 is now quiet just like the ol days. 😁
I just want to say thank you, really helpful. Applied new paste, I barely notice it is working on idle. 💪👍
Man, this was helpful! Except for the extra black screw that some of us have, this was perfect. (And also the re-assembly video.) Three hours total for cleaning a shit-ton of dust, - actual mats of dust and renewing the thermal paste. Thanks!
This has worked a dream. I got my PS4 on launch day and have just followed the guide step by step. Be warned about the power socket jumper cable though. Take your time using tweezers. I used a particularly sharp set o tweezers and ended up breaking one of the wires when I slipped so had to I order a new jumper cable off ebay for under £5 to replace it. My PS4 works as good as it did in 2013 now :)
Great tutorial. Ps4 previously sounded like a jet engine and now it's so quiet!
Thank you so much for this vid! Legit my ps4 sounded like a jet engine b4, and got to the point it just powered itself off and told me to take a hike or clean it. Now its smooth sailing👌
Brilliant tutorial. Concise and encompassing. Well done and thank you.
Made a huge difference for my PS4 that I bought used. The APU cooler was full of dust and the paste was dried up. Thanks for the guide!
Brilliant video and explanation 👌
Many thanks for making it.
Just done the pads and themal paste on my PS4 Pro. Went from sounding like it was about to take off, to being quieter than my T500. Well worth it.
Thank you for the clear and simple explanation and advice. Great video 👍
I cleaned my PS4 using your tutorial! And thank you so much! I also changed the thermal pads to 1mm (deepcool is the brand) and thermal paste to artic mx6. I opened it for a few minutes and holy f. When i loaded infamous it was silent! Thank you so much man
Does this cleaning and changing thermal paste affect also the performance of the ps4 or just making it silent thank you !!! Btw great video ! 🙏🏽
will applying thermal paste and then leaving it out while cleaning the cooling system affect the longevity or result of the paste? and can I use compressed air instead of a brush?
Thank youuuu
Did exactly how you explained it thanks so much my PS4 is still alive and now quiet again!!
Thanks alot my PS4 works fine now and it makes very less noise. Thanks to this video I did not damage my PS4 while fixing it.
Thanks to this video, I took courage and decided to open my ps4 piece by piece. Finally I can say that it is much quieter than before and that the problem of overheating is no longer there. Thank you so much!
Thank you for your help, it helped me a lot, I didn't believe that I could manage something like that, but I managed it
Thanks a lot! I followed your guide and replaced fan, thermal paste and thermal pads. Ps4 Pro has never been more quiet.
Does changing pads change a lot?
@@methodless941 when I had done this my new ps4 pro went from unbearably loud to hardly noticeable. Over the past year I've noticed it slowly getting louder with some games but not enough to give me a reason to replace it again.
hey do you know if the CUH-1202B model is covered by this guide? The model numbers in the description do not match anything I can find on the official Sony support pages.
Also, where did you get the replacement thermal pads from?
@@davepastern he got them from Joe .....
He has quality thermal paste and pads etc
@@fullmoviesmate6100 that didn't answer my question lol!
Successful operation today. Thank you for the video!
Thanks bro! My ps4's noise decreased so much, I barely hear it anymore!
What is that plastic thing you used for lifting the powersupply. And where did you get that plastic ice scream spoon?
Even after all this time, I used this as a step by step guide for my ps4. thank you (its never ran so quietly).
Thanks for the help mate, it was really useful!
Hooooly crap, I can't believe how quiet my ps4 is now. I've had it since launch day and never once opened it up for maintenance. I ended up replacing the thermal pads too.
Excellent video, super clear with no useless filler.
What thermal paste did you use and how was it?
@@igfury4119 some noctua paste I had left over from a pc build. And thermal grizzly minus pad 8 for the pad replacement. It works great. It's been whisper quiet on the vast majority of games for months now. I can feel the heat from the vents is very hot with very minimal effort from the fans. It was super worthwhile, I should have done it years ago when it had started sounding like a jet engine.
You saved me a lot of money man thank you!
Amazing guide. Now my ps4 runs idle when playing gta 5, bf4, assetto corsa and assetto corsa competizione. I used gd900 which is only like $1 for 3g which is a really good deal and it works as good as any other thermal paste for $10.
NOO THAT WILL MAKE YOUR PS4 GET TECHNICAL ISSUESSS
It's 2022 and I followed this video for my original ps4. The amount of dust collected inside the radiator fins shocked me. Followed this video and now it's like new and no high pitched sound anymore.
I have a question? Is their any soldering required especially the Wifi connectors im very afraid of unplugging the wifi connectors and not realizing that I need a soldering tool to re-hook it after I'm done replacing thermal paste.
Please let me know any soldering requirements if their are any just to get to the thermal paste. That includes the wifi connectors ESPECIALLY??
Great video! Easy to follow and did the job!
opening a ps4 for the first time requires more strength than Goku has
Thanks man now my PS4 is significantly quieter, keep it up!
really ?
please tell me if you clean alll the dust from inside all of it and you put a new thermal paste does the PS4 return young ? like 5 years ago ?
plz tell me
sry for my bad english
@@mrenigma1564 Yeah, can confirm that if you deep clean it (including the heatsink) and apply quality thermal paste (I used arctic silver) the PS4 will be significantly quieter
@@rckkatansky5783 thank you ♥
@@rckkatansky5783 is it quieter even now ? After 8 months ?
@@mrenigma1564 Yeah it's still quieter, but you probably want to clean it once every year or year and a half to avoid it sounding like jet engine again
Your Notse and the your way of tutorial ia amazing you saved me Thank you :)
this is a great video it helped and made it easy to clean ps4
thanks for this necessary video guide
THANK YOU SO MUCH, my ps4 sounded like an airplane before,
I did everything you showed and its running silent again.
TYVM
Finally someone do the job, great sharing
Thank you for the tutorial really helped me with my ps4, I thought the loud noise was just the fan 😂 thank you for making my ps4 quiet
This video was perfect, thank you!
May I ask what background music you used in this video?
Tysm I’m 13 and I cleaned my entire ps4 some of the screws were a bit rusted so I had to use something to grind them up a bit to be able to be taken out overall a fun troubling experience ; )
Hey what about power supply you just leave this?
Great Video, really helpful. My PS4 went from jet engine to, you know, something that you expect from a console! Not as quiet as my pc (duh) but now I finally don't need to wear ANC headphones to play!
Just a quick note: I noticed there was a screw next to the Power supply connector holding together the Motherboard and the metal cover. Needed to remove that. I seem to have a slightly different version of PS4, you did not have that screw. Just a heads up for other people!
another good guide for paste and cleaning. i wanted to be sure about the paste location and all so this was helpful as well. but i wouldn't recommend cleaning the fan by hand as they usually are like so damn fragile (fans in general) to mingle with fingers and you may get a buzzing fan sound in not so distant future. you dont want another problem when you eagerly trying to get rid of the heat issue. although this buzzing is not %100 i admit but why take the risk? Just use an air compressor to blow the dust on it but at the same time DO NOT FORGET to hold the fan not to turn like a chopper's propeller. cheers ✌
Thank you for this, easy to follow! Great vid!🎉 edit:Just test my old ps4 and its soooo smooth now and games works with out lag etc!
Thanks for the help!
Beautiful tutorial.
Thanks a lot, super helpful tutorial!
My ps4 is now so much more quiet. Thanks!
Hello sir, i bought a used ps4 and i cant remove psu sadly is it possible to change thrmal paste without removing it?
Yes! It works GREAT! My 7 years old PS4 was a 747 whenever Inwas playing anything other than Spelunky and finally, it's silent even with Hitman 3 or RDR2!
Big Thank You from me! I opened up my PS4 and there where no thermal paste on the CPU... After I solved that problem the PS4 is quite like on its first day!
Thanks, this helped me to replace the paste :)
It worked like a charm, thank u so much❤❤
Thanks a lot, really helpful!
Thank you so much for this video!
My PS4 went from sounding like a commercial jet to dead quiet.
Changed thermal paste in mine now its like a new console 👍
Thank you so much, this video helped me with my jet engine (ps4)
your video helped me alot thanks.!!
Thanks for the breakdown of this video. The other versions seemed to be a different ps4 model. My fans don’t automatically come on like an airplane engine when I turn it on.
for my launch PS4, the TR9 torx worked much better than a regular t9
I cleaned up my ps4 and replaced thermal paste with new. My question I have is my ps4 supposed to be warm when I turn it on after I replaced thermal paste?
This video worked for me! After disassembling my PS4, I noticed the radiator was PACKED with dust bunnies. I cleaned it out, put some new thermal paste (I used CORSAIR XTM50 from Best Buy), and now it’s super quiet. Prior to that, my PS4 sounded so loud I needed to turn the volume up on my TV just to enjoy playing it.
Great thanks a lot. still my model has one more black screew when you go to 3:33 in your video it is located in the left corner of the metal part.
You show how to preserve the warranty stickers and even have a video on how to re-assembly the console after the cleaning. It can't get any better! :)
You have help me too much thank you❤️
Awesome video! I did mine and its almost dead silent now after sounding like an airplane in my room!
Mine seemed to have 13 screws on the metal plate (not 12),and I still have 1 t8 screw out after reassembly 😅 but it seems fine without it,like new again!
If anybody has any info what pads to use and recommend a paste? The links don't work anymore. I have corsair tm30 paste but heard bad things about it.
dude i have a question is the hy510 thermal paste good quality or bad cause after i put it in ps4 apu my fan went crazy note that i cleaned everything fan / heat sink / even the thermal pads was replaced with artic silver 5 thermal pads but my ps4 is still running loud after i open ?any game like fortnite or uncharted 4 or even any game i play on ventilated area any idea
I just bought the same paste, is your ps4 running any better now?
Ali no it's not
Thank You For This Toturial..
What did he use to clean off the old thremel pasta
nice tutorial :)
Hi I opened up my entire ps4 pro and cleaned the entire thing including it’s hard drive slot and the fan still gets loud and it overheats time to time. Do you think buying a new thermal paste will fix it ?
Yeah
