Late reply, but I sincerely want to thank you for this excellent guide. I just performed this myself today and your video was excellent and straightforward. The only obstacle I had was that I was unable to disconnect the power supply from the board, but I was able to support it vertically without stress on the wires and do it that way. Great breakdown! My ps4 is running silent now!! Thank you! One thing different on mine was around the 3:45 mark when the power source was removed, there was a black screw holding the motherboard to the heat sink plate. Great Video, really helpful. My PS4 went from jet engine to, you know, something that you expect from a console! Not as quiet as my pc (duh) but now I finally don't need to wear ANC headphones to play!
Just a quick note: I noticed there was a screw next to the Power supply connector holding together the Motherboard and the metal cover. Needed to remove that. I seem to have a slightly different version of PS4, you did not have that screw. Just a heads up for other people!

another good guide for paste and cleaning. i wanted to be sure about the paste location and all so this was helpful as well. but i wouldn't recommend cleaning the fan by hand as they usually are like so damn fragile (fans in general) to mingle with fingers and you may get a buzzing fan sound in not so distant future. you dont want another problem when you eagerly trying to get rid of the heat issue. although this buzzing is not %100 i admit but why take the risk? Just use an air compressor to blow the dust on it but at the same time DO NOT FORGET to hold the fan not to turn like a chopper's propeller. cheers ✌

Yes! It works GREAT! My 7 years old PS4 was a 747 whenever Inwas playing anything other than Spelunky and finally, it's silent even with Hitman 3 or RDR2!

Thanks for the breakdown of this video. The other versions seemed to be a different ps4 model. My fans don’t automatically come on like an airplane engine when I turn it on.

This video worked for me! After disassembling my PS4, I noticed the radiator was PACKED with dust bunnies. I cleaned it out, put some new thermal paste (I used CORSAIR XTM50 from Best Buy), and now it’s super quiet. Prior to that, my PS4 sounded so loud I needed to turn the volume up on my TV just to enjoy playing it.

Awesome video! I did mine and its almost dead silent now after sounding like an airplane in my room!
Mine seemed to have 13 screws on the metal plate (not 12),and I still have 1 t8 screw out after reassembly 😅 but it seems fine without it,like new again!

Hi I opened up my entire ps4 pro and cleaned the entire thing including it’s hard drive slot and the fan still gets loud and it overheats time to time. Do you think buying a new thermal paste will fix it ?
