      @@howfixit I was able to get it out by using some needle nose pliers and keeping the power supply port situated with my finger. Worked like a charm.

    Hot tip for everyone following along: you know that small, aluminum bracket that fell out of your ps4 when you flipped it over? It goes on the radiator, and you can see it at 5:20.

      What were the symptoms of stuck power button, I was trying to put my sons ps4 into safe mode today to rebuild the database and realised the power button is unresponsive. eject button works ok. When I asked him how long it's been not working he said "I always just turn on with the controller"

      @@BobbyWoody429 Assembling was pretty straight forward. Just make sure to sort the screws of the motherboard cover. It was also easy to remember where things go since I did everything in the same evening. If you decide to do it, there‘s a little piece that fell out of my ps4 after I turned it to the other side. It goes into the cooling block.

    I removed the screws but two issues with the psu. one is that hte cable on top wont come out and the second issue is even with all the screws you mentioned and the t8's removed, the psu itself will not budge in the middle even when i lift up on both sides.

    Thanks for walkthrough. I did that yesterday and was kinda easy. But I only struggled with power supply cord (not easy to take off) and obviously I have different version of PS4 slim than is shown on video as on some places I had "more screws to take off" than on video.
    And very last note - you did not mentioned that used torx T8 needs to have a hole in the middle otherwise those screws can't be removed (possibly due to other version?).

      its called a security screw but my ps4's warranty expired a while ago so i just took a 1.5 flat head and removed the little pillars

      Yeah i didnt have the screw bit so i broke the hole using a flat screwdriver and used a normal torx😂

    Dude this is my first time dismantling an electronic component and the whole process was tedious. I took a photograph for each step. After everything is assembled and done the ps4 is dead silent.. i thought i broke my fan but it was running🤯🤯..
    After dismantling it i discovered few thermal pads were missing.. some thermal pads were burnt and others became dust. I found a white patch in my memory module (burnt i think)..
    I used c14 stage1 thermal paste it had done a great job..
    Edit.. aw man i misplaced couple of thermal pads in the motherboard..

    Got some MX-4 to repaste my CPU/APU and some K5 Pro to replace the thermal pads on my slim I put a WD SSD in it earlier this year with cross play games coming up I want it running fast as possible I have some Kingpin KPX but thats for my high end gaming machine I keep MX-4 around for everything else laptop’s PS’s etc…

    I thank you for the video, for it made taking my PS4 slim apart much easier. However, I would perhaps mention one thing instead of pulling the internal power plugs by the wires themselves, perhaps use a small needle nose plier instead.

      I took was thinking that! Maybe tiny channel lock pliers could grasp the plastic housing on the pig tails too so as to never pull on wires like my auto mechanics tell me.

    Not sure about applying the thermal paste. On the older PS4 it was instructed to apply a pea sized dollop in the center of processor. On my slim, there was hardly any paste at all and most was around the edges of the processor. I'll apply a dollop instead of spreading evenly. Either way, it will surely still be better than the half-assed job the lazy manufacturer did.

    How long do we let the thermal paste set? On the ps4 just wondering🤔💭 I was debating sending mine in its overheating and powering off I believe it's a Thermal paste job BUT could be anything

      You don’t let it set, you can use it immediately. As long as the thermal paste was applied correctly AND thermal damage was not present, it should be just fine.

      Good thing the plastic part is easily replaced. Find a bottom piece on eBay.

      @@kspades2530 you dont want to use too much thermal paste, it might get over the motherboard. Just put a little x across the GPU and spread it out evenly should be fine 👍

      You might just need to update your console or sometimes when the ps4 freezes up or drops frames there are too many notifications going on the same time. Limit your notifications in the menu. You can also try to rebuild your database if it doesn't work.

    Found a better thermal paste than Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut or kingpin KPX plus it last for 8 years Thermalright TFX, TF8 *( TFX may be the best non liquid metal thermal paste on the market )* also last 8 years but not quit as good, I may use that or noctua’s NT-2 it last 5 years since it’s an APU system

    Ya tomorrow I’m doing my PS4 super slim today I did my PS3 super slim this is way easier, I got one more PS to do a PS3 slim I’m not looking forward to that, man I used MX-4 I cleaned to fan like new and that thing blows like a hairdryer now when the fan does blow my RSX chip basically had no thermal paste on it and there was barely enough to contact the IHS on the cpu chip man it runs better than when I bought it video playback is crystal clear, I’m gonna replace my thermal pads as well with K5 Pro on the other 2 consoles *( super slim PS3 has none )* it’s way better than thermal pads

    So I’ve done this to a few PS4’s and worked like a charm. Did one yesterday and now the control won’t connect. Checked the antenna, tried different cables, replaced the antenna from my old console and still nothing. Any ideas?

    How did he get the back of the PS4 off? I unsrewed the screw and took out the HDD but I still can't get it up and don't want to force it out as it might break it.

      You need to make sure all the screws are taken out. Make sure to take a picture of your ps4 before you take them out so you know where they go back in 😊

    Not the best guide here missed a screw on reverse to let power pack out and also why you would apply thermal paste before your ready to put back together is beyond anyone's guess

    I followed steps and now my disc drive wont accept disc. Any suggestions?

      You might need to open it again and check out the disc tray. Clean if you need to with isopropyl alcohol. If you hear a rattling noise, some times those rolling pins that pull the disc in become loose and thankfully they just snap back in 👍

      Do you mean how much you need to buy? 2g would already be more than enough for the PS4. Personally, I also like buying a spatula like the guy in the video did.

    you should have add way more thermal paste , the amount you have put there will dry in les than an hour of play :)

    Guys you do know u don’t have to take out the battery connector from the motherboard you can just remove the motherboard with the connector still plugged in.

    This doesn't happen if you keep your house clean our house is always clean we have a PS4 slim got it in 2013 not once had to dust it off or clean it out it doesn't overheat still running brand new we keep really good care of our stuff we don't let it go to hell
