But you have no more than 10 views 😂😴🥾
Yeah white people are the best no doubt about it 💯👍🏾
@@lorrace hahaha right? People on here are slow. All this dude spills out is common sense shit
I always recommend people do these also for their PS4, and now (if lucky enough to have one), the PS5. A number of people used to think I was making it up, in particular clearing the cache. But even just doing that they saw the boost in performance. Doing these 2 steps, along with at least a quick dusting once a month should keep your PS4/PS5 running at or at least near its best potential.
Is there a way to get into safe mode when your power button is broken
@@robbielowrey9175 holy shit, your's broken? that sucks... how did it happen?
The button won't push in. I can turn it on with the controller and it works.
what's a good tutorial for dusting?
@@spikey288 by NOT using compressed air. damp microfiber rags are probably the best.
Moving your games to an external USB SSD will work wonders too, I suggest that over replacing the internal one if you plan to upgrade to PS5 later. This will save you a LOT of time as you can connect the same external drive to the PS5 and play all the games off it without having to redownload or transfer the game files from the old console.
I was surprised that wasn't brought up in this video.
hey good to know, thanks my dude! I was thinking about upgrading my PS4 storage and futureproofing sounds neat
Luckily I got a 5tb Western Digital external hard drive to use whenever I can get a PS5. Hopefully next year since RE4 Remake isn't gonna be on PS4.
✊🏼
Can I ask you something? My ps4 Cd scanner isn’t working. Im makes weird noises when I put a cd in, then an app shows up saying “unidentified cd” or something. I tried cleaning the scanner, but it didn’t work. Please help me!
Great advice, I did this to my PS4 pro and it really helped. Cut my load times by 20%
This also applies to the PS3 in case anyone still uses that console but it's important to know that neither the PS3 or PS4 will take full advantage of an SSD upgrade since they use SATA II, only the PS4 Pro model uses SATA III interface which is strange but it's the only one that can take full advantage of an SSD upgrade.
I don't really find it that strange. SATA 3 was launched in mid 2009. When the PS4 was launched, SATA3 had only been out for 4 years and was mostly only found in high performance computers. By the time the PS4 Pro came out at the end of 2016, SATA3 was the dominant standard for hard drive interface.
@@alphanerd2305 Yeah but even the old Xbox One from 2013 supports SATA III but I'm not 100% sure, that's why I find it strange for the PS4 and PS4 Slim to not support SATA III.
@@alvzcizzler The information I'm finding indicates that the original XBox One was SATA2, but they upgraded to SATA3 for the One S and One X. But then again, its difficult to say whether they are talking about the controller or the drive itself. IT's like when they list the storage specs, they only show drive size and not interface and rotational speed as if they weren't even remotely important.
@@alvzcizzler incorrect. old xbox one was low grade sata 2
@@alphanerd2305 one s was still sata 2. that was part of the original outrage. It wasn't even an improvement over the original. like the switch vs the OLEDS
Thank you for this tip my friend my ps4 was lagy and now it is a little better your tips are truly amazing 🙌❤️📣
Always giving the best advice! Thanks!
Very helpful. I had a lag and speed up issue with fifa 23 and the cache clear tip solved it immediately! Thanks
You forgot to mention that applying black screen as a wallpaper will also increase performance as there is nothing to load so that will decrease the load from the system and you can use that extra VRAM for better performance, Hope this helps ( :
Same logic with laptops and battery life. Setting things to dark mode and downloading a dark wallpaper will really help out your battery life.
@@sabastianleisek396 Dark mode has been proven to make zero difference to battery life in tests side by side with controls, and a bright setting. Though I do still choose it just because it looks nicer.
@@LyingSecret On an LCD screen, yeah, there's not much, if any difference. However, on an OLED display, each pixel is self-lit, so if the colour needing to be shown is just black, those pixels can completely switch off. You can see how that can improve battery life on phones, tablets, watches or laptops using an OLED display :)
Damn! straight to the point!!! Loved it!
Thank you sir. I own a PS4 and I did what you suggested and it's working better than ever!! Mad props to you!!

Hey John, I would have thought you’d do a video or at least comment on the spammers/scammers who were posing as you and causing posts to disappear (either by wrongly reporting them as spam or deleting them).
Cheers for the reminder to do this. Even though most firmware updates do a DB rebuild, clearing the cache always helps speed up the UI.
Sadly, it doesn’t stop poorly optimised games from making the PS4/PS4 Pro work harder/run hotter & noisier though.
I like how one of those comments is on your commentchain now
Damn, the irony
I recently got the Samsung EVO 870 SSD and the improvement is incredible....Cost nearly as much as the PS4 itself though but has greatly extended its life and performance

Got an SSD I was scared to repair anything on. My PS4 but it's so simple to do. Even my Grandma who has no idea about a PS4 could do this..I just recommend that for everyone. I bought a SSD for only 30€ it was worth it.

If you never serviced it, it's good time to clean and change thermal paste.
This worked extremely well, I’ve been experiencing freezes, my ps4 literally crashing, more times than I can remember and after I did the thing, it worked my ps4 runs so much smoother now and I appreciate the help the you provide.
Does this delete or remove anything from my PS4 just want to know before I try it.
@@nibbletziggy9768 no it doesn't
Will abslutely try it., thanks John ! greetings from Mexico
I think it's also preferable to :
1 hold the power button once the console is unplugged to empty your motherboard from any polluting charge.
2 Clean thoroughly your console (CPU fan or even changing thermal paste), used IPA in this regard
3 rebuild database
Works like a charm
Thank you for the video
Seriously why hold the power button I’m confused? It fully erases the cache or what?
@@Dinkalinsky No, it will simply purge any remaining electricity within your power supply and motherboard alike, your console should be then safe to maintain as it will ensure the stability of its components if you are willing to use Iso-propanol Alcohol for cleaning purposes. Hope that it helps

Thank you for reposting this video. I think it’s important you do this in another 3-4 months so more people can learn this
Another way to fix the performance of the menu is to delete your message groups. For some reason that slows down the menu as well.
I couldn’t be anymore happier w an SSD I recently installed into my ps4 pro not too long ago .. I’m happy w the storage upgrade .. I get more space and get to install more games not being worried about COD Updates ..

While this information is accurate in it's "how to" aspect, you shouldn't need to rebuild the database every month. In fact, every time you rebuild the database, there is a chance it won't succeed and will be left with no option but to format and start over (if it encounters an unfixable error). Only rebuild the database if there is an actual issue, it's not good advice to use this as preventative maintenance every month.
If you are constantly rebuilding the db over an issue, that probably means your drive is on the way out and you should consider replacing it with either another HDD or an SSD.
Did this earlier today. System now runs much better. ✌
Thank you so much for your help 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
You should first delete all pics, videos, unused game and save data. Then delete all notifications. Then clear the cache. Then rebuild the database. This way it streamlines everything rebuilt and defrags the HDD.

I'm a PC only player but i still enjoy these console related videos, these are short and mildly entertaining.
Really helpful advice.
Do we need to be careful after rebuilding database ? Does rebuilding delete our profile features or DNS we put in because if it does some people might actually update their JB ps4s after doing this and it would be good to learn if it does or not.
No nothing will be erased and your system will run much smoother
@@theaveragegamerguy5989 cool thx
If you’re using an extended hard drive it may get corrupted
@@NahidsJunk no it won't touch your external hard drive, ive done this quite a few times even when I have it plugged in the console doing this
yeah I use an SSD but I unplugged everytime I shut off the system from the PS4 menu 1st of course. That database thing works a shitton tho
I have a question: when I save a video clip of my gameplay, there's a 3 second time skip that occurs frequently and don't know how to fix that. It ruins crucial moments of a great gameplay survival or being lucky. Is there a solution to this?
If you have notifications turned on, turned all of them off. Any popup notification during recording will cause a gap frame data.
3 seconds is the exact time it takes for a notification to pop up and then disappear, it's probably that
Great, great video! I have a PS4 Pro with an upgraded SSD. Bit I still sometimes have this issue
EXCELLENT.
John, by the way, do you think that upgrading the PS4's hard drive is something that you can do at home, or does it require a professional for installation?
Is it worth upgrading to an SSD? And also which ssd will give me the best performance out of my PS4 pro?
@MY WORLD what about load times?
Absolutely YES, upgraded my PS4 Fat to 1TB SSD and it was totally worth it.
Love how you don't mention that doing this will remove all folders from your PS4 and you'll have to reorganize your whole system again. If you're gonna give advice tell the pros and cons to doing it

I'm not going to get a PS5 and start buying 70 bucks for games when I have too many PS4 games on my Seagate hard drive. So I appreciate info on keeping my PS4 running smoothly, thank you!👍

I was stuck in a safe mode loop. My console forced me to initialize (wiping the console clean) my ps4 pro 5 times. Thats when I did a little investigating and realize that my ps4 hard drive went bad. I never knew that was a thing. I then upgraded to a Samsung 2TB SSD. Before I found this solution, I assumed my ps4 was broken but simple as swapping the hard drive had fixed my issue. Just explaining what I came across so if anyone experience the same, thats all that has to be done. Good to help out👋🏽.
Happened to me last year, I was terrified that my ps4 pro was done for.
How does that even happen?
@@crookedbuns tech doesnt live forever. And nowadays all tech is made to last until release of like a next gen, phones too, they live for a couple years and go bad. They all want you to buy their new shit they release everytime, wich is getting more expensive every time as well..

I thought some people say it doesn't matter if you upgrade to SSD because something something the USB interface is not fast enough to keep up with SATA speed
Sata ssd is different than the m2 from ps5
Regardless if it's not fast enough, an SSD will basically ensure you the best speeds at all time; yes there is a cap on how fast the ps4 can process everything, but with a normal HHD, your speeds will still fluctuate and an SSD will basically remove that area of slow speeds for the ps4
I just changed the HDD with an samsung 1tb ssd and its really faster, the performance and just graphics in general are also alot better. Lags are also reduced and almost non existent. If you do buy one, just be careful that you buy an SATA 3 SLIM ssd. You can also use laptop ssd‘s.
