    THIS is how you "clean the fan". The other videos are just temp fixes and if you have this design of the ps4, as you can see in this video if you only clean the fan from the back opening then the heat sink will end up super clogged over time and eventually lead to overheating. I did this a couple years ago but now I need to do it again. Always nice to have a good video to guide me even though I've done the job before. Should be a fun night. Great video, thanks!

    Thank you for this tutorial. My PS4 kept crashing the last couple of nights and I figured it was over-heating because of the strange noise the fan was making. I thought I'd need to take it in for actual repair but because of this video I was able to clean it out completely, including the fan and heat sink. What probably would've cost me a couple hundred only cost me $18 just to get a compressed air can and the thermal paste!

    Did the noise go down? I’m dealing with a lot of noise in mine. I only recently found out you can take off the whole mother board. I knew it was possible but when I was having problems in 2016. Most videos suggested you don’t take everything apart. Which is weird to me now but I believe the fans weren’t a big problem at that point. I just need mine to not sound like a jet engine taking off to Atleast a subtle rumble. I want to put money down to lessen it but if it’s about the same there’s no reason to do it.

      Also a couple more things. One question maybe you could help me with, I noticed you used a vacuum to suck out the dust. Is that safe? I did that years ago on my ps3 without taking it apart (just sucked out the vents) and it completely stopped working afterwards. Maybe from static electricity? Maybe coincidence? Just curious what I may have done wrong so I can prevent it in the future.
      -----------------------------------
      And second, I found an awesome screwdriver kit on Amazon a couple of years ago that is perfect for these things and has every kind of bit you'd ever need and if you still haven't gotten a security t9 yet I'd recommend this set. Here's the link if you're interested.

    I followed the whole tutorial step by step - put it back together after new thermalpaste and cleaning the fan (was totally blocked by dust)
    Now it's already sounding like a jet while booting and stays that way... Do you have an idea what went wrong?
    Maybe the CPU doesn't "touch" the heatsink anymore or not fully?

    • @kingsley15
      @kingsley15  Před 2 lety

      Probably a bad fan, you should have replaced it, especially if it was really clogged up. The bearings are probably worn out from it working hard from being clogged.
      Or maybe it's the thermal paste, if you don't use enough or it wasn't applied properly then that could be a problem.
      I wouldn't worry too much about the PS4 sounding loud, as long as it's not shutting down from over heating. Lots of games, even just at start up, can cause it to sound loud.

    • @JustFLBeats
      @JustFLBeats Před 2 lety

      @@kingsley15 It's shutting down after 5 minutes :D even tho i'm just in the Menue and the Fan is going crazy... is there a screw which has to be very tight so the CPU touches the "heatsink" parts?
      The Fan itself is running more or less smoothly - even without it the passive cooling should be enough for at least letting it run for a while without much going on

      You probably sorted this already, but for anyone else that may see, it could be that your cover is sticky. Blast it with a hair dryer's heat for about 30 seconds.

    Hello I followed all your steps
    I cleaned the fan as it was working fine
    The only thing is that I didn’t put the thermal paste on the board .
    When I start the ps4 after 10 min it shows me ps4 too hot and shut off
    The fan noise is much louder as before.
    Can you tell me if the problem is that I didn’t put the thermal paste ????

      You didn't reapply thermal paste? Yeah, that is 100% the problem.
      Also the fan will be much louder because it's working harder due to more heat.

      Yeah that's your problem right there. Thermal paste is extremely important, you didn't follow the steps exactly as shown. Definitely do not use your PS4 until you apply the right paste, otherwise you risk damaging your GPU. There are no shortcuts with things like this, always follow the exact steps.

      You don’t have to unplug the cable from the power supply. Just unplug the cable from the motherboard end and leave it plugged in the power supply. It’s a bit snug so you have to wiggle it off grabbing it from the wires, yes I was a bit afraid to do that too but it won’t break.
