  • PS4 Deep Clean
    In this video I will be fully taking apart my original PS4 and deep cleaning it. I will be doing this to help with overheating issues I've been having when playing games.
    I will also be removing old thermal paste and pads and replacing them with new better ones.
    There will also be a comparison of the PS4 before and after the deep clean.

    Word of advice if you’re going to replace the thermal pads, i’d recommend you get pads that are 1.0 mm thick. 0.5 mm is kind of thin and only good for some games, and 1.5 mm can be too thick and may not be good for any games your PS4 may overheat just by turning it on. 1.0 mm is the sweet spot.
    But, you may not even need to replace the thermal pads anyways the stock ones from the factory seem to do their job. It’s really the stock paste that’s complete crap.

      if you're already removing the fan/heatsink to remove dust, it's a good idea to replace the thermal paste/pads anyway. thermal paste dries out after a couple years, and should be replaced regularly after heavy use. tl;dr i'd recommend it

      Thanks for the comment. So the research I did when I made this video said 0.8mm one side and 1mm on other. So I think if you went with 1mm you would be fine. Reason I went with 0.5mm is a bunch of reviews of others who used it had great results. And I've been running it for over a year and it runs very well. Hope that helps.

      The red light flashing means it's overheating. So either not enough thermal paste or not the right thickness of thermal pad. Also, giving a good clean of everything helps with heat removal. Hope that helps.

    Well, definitely and 100% not a deep clean because the console was still full of dust. But an ok job in general

    • @journeythroughtheepic
      @journeythroughtheepic  Před rokem +3

      Thanks for comment! For the first time doing something like this an okay job sounds good to me. Main reason I did this clean was because certain games would over heat and shut my console down. Since doing it my ps4 runs very well, so I would say it was a success.

  • @CS-td1nn
    @CS-td1nn Před rokem +1

    That's pretty cool, my console is making the same noise on a main game and when I go into the game menu, it quietens down massively so it must be the games themselves that cause the fan or whatever it is to speed up. Having said that, I loaded into another game and just the game loading caused it to ramp up and it was 10x louder than it was on the other game so I shut the darn thing down immediately lol. It sounded dangerous 🥲🤣
    We will get new paste stuff and try to fix it as I think my console is almost 6 years old and I would prefer to fix whatever is wrong with it than to buy a new console like I'm sure Sony wants you to do haha
    How long has this lasted for you? I used to play pretty much every day but with working etc I play less now so I am sure playing every day or thereabouts is the reason why the factory thermal paste is crusty inside of mine but if I'm not playing too often then hopefully it lasts for a while as taking it apart the first time to look at the condition of it was a pain with the tiny screws lol

    • @journeythroughtheepic
      @journeythroughtheepic  Před rokem +1

      Thanks for commenting! My ps4 in the video was the original ps4. So is pushing probably 6 to 8 years old. I think if you use a high end thermal paste and pads can definitely get many more years from it. It's been close to a year since I cleaned it out and repasted and it's been running like new for me even in high demand games like God of War, definitely helped alot.
