  • Today we are gona do a PS4 Pro thermal paste and thermal pads upgrade. I will be using the Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut thermal paste for this project. Changing out the stock thermal paste and pads as well as cleaning your system helps the performance of your console especially if your PS4 Pro is sounding like a jet engine.

You clean the fan from the top is not enough as dust will be blocking the airflow at the heatsink at the side of the fan. That was my first mistake. When sticking pad, make sure no air bubble formed in between surfaces.
      Don't handle it with bare finger. Oil and dirt will reduce its performance.
      Clean the surface thoroughly with isopropyl alcohol first before applying it.
      Make sure your thermal pad is thick enough to fill the gap. slightly thicker than the gap is OKAY because once it will be squished to desired thickness once you have assembled the system.
      If it is too thick, the APU won't touch the heatsink properly and your system will overheat.

      thickness of the pad on the memory chip is crucial. too thin it won't contact. too thick it will leave air gap on the APU. both case will ruin the system. also, application is not too easy. if air bubble is formed between the pad and the heatsink or memory surface, it will fail your system too. handling the pad using bare hand also contaminated it with dirt and oil, further reducing its potential.

    Is adding too much paste bad? It won’t short circuit anything right?

    • @nathanhamman418
      @nathanhamman418 Před 3 lety +3

      Depends on the paste, some are electrically conductive, others aren't. I recommend mx-4 or arctic silver 5. However i'd use as little as you can get away with, while not necessarily dangerous, its a mess that you won't want to deal with later on when it dries out.

      Wouldn't recommend cheaping out if that's what you mean. If you're going to the effort of replacing the pads, use quality pads

    Can thermal pads be replaced by thermal paste??

    • @Brunoocost
      @Brunoocost Před 3 lety

      Don't ever put thermal paste on memorys or MOSFETs, they can only make contact with thermal pads. Keep the thermal paste just for the APU/CPU/GPU.
