But it can be stressful to figure out one sector of social work to focus on when you enjoy many areas in social work and want to help several different populations of people. Please make a video on admission to an MSW program! How much work experience should we have? Who should we ask for a letter of recommendation? GPA? Those kinda things would help a lot. And thank you so much for your videos, they've been super helpful 🙏
So many great points especially that your job will not fulfill all of your needs. I get that. Yes! There are other ways to meet your interests with other side things! Great advise also that you may have more than one niche I am new to social work and have worked for over 15 years in healthcare. I work as a housing case manager right now (1st undergrad job) and I am really thinking about going back to healthcare after I get my msw the money is so much better and I enjoyed it as well. Great video 😊
I think my niche is addiction recovery. I am an undergrad, and I love doing my practicum in this area. Right now, I deal with adults. However, for my MSW, I would like to work with adolescents in the mental health and addiction arena.

Yeah, I am in an odd predicament as a social worker right now. I got a macro social work job (which is what I wanted) but I am not passionate about the population that I work with. The skills that I am picking up are a benefit and the pay is decent. But I feel no passion for the population that I work with. I feel so indecisive about where to go as a macro social worker.
Yikes. I hear you. It can be a challenge to choose an area you love.
I’m still in my human services with concentration in mental health undergrad but I am so interested in hospice social work or renal social work!
