That made so much sense, I've had issues with swabs. Quick question are all the sylicibe species swabs all ok to be refrigerated?
Hi, first of all thanks a lot for your videos. I think they are really good as you mention a lot of details. Really interrested to see when you are getting deeper into genetics (I suppose that you might). Anyway my question regarding this video is the following. Considering working in a still air box I am wondering if the plates get oculated with drops of the needle if sterilizing after each plate is necessary or if fast and precise occulating without resterilizing is the way to go.
Regarding the cottonswab - is it ok to use the same swab for multiple plates and how critical is having the liquid in the uncovered shotglas? Going to do the first Plates since more than 10 years tomorrow. Really excited.

Can you do spore print directly to grain?
theoretically but would be a contamination nightmare, look bad, and is a waste. 1 print can make a TON of mycelia

Why take spore swabs when you can just spawn bag transfer to a new bag? Does this fuck with genetics?
Why do you use swabs like this? Why dont you just touch the plate? this is enough to inoculate with hundreds spores.
What a waste of spores
