Dead at the three looking depressed and the two smirking. It is Robb's fault. He chose love over honour and it got everyone killed.
And in the books, not even that. He had a night of passion and got a girl pregnant. And to not dishonor her or have a bastard - not wanting to be his father in that moment and making another Jon Snow, knowing that disgrace and the hardship for Jon - he married her.
So in the books, he didn't even choose love over honour, but chose to honour one thing in lieu of another.
@@emiliad.858 Actually that was an extremely smart move on Tywin's part.
@@tealsummers2316 it’s just my copium. Maybe it was smart but I wouldn’t want a man like that running shit in westeros if I was alive in these times. No thanks lol that man allows children to be executed he’s demonic

This episode is the reason reaction channels exists. Everyone who read the books already knew what was coming and they recorded their family or friends reactions to the Red wedding and uploaded in CZcams so here we are today watching other people’s reactions to the GOT or other TV series
I said this during the first load of this reaction video.
What happened that there needed to be a re upload?
Where is episode 10 reaction?
I remember when this first came out and the very first reaction videos were posted on CZcams with the cameras hidden and low quality.
@@user-hg3iv5hy3s Their video got restricted that’s why they re uploaded
@@juffy29 yes that reaction videos taken 11 years ago still in here which is really crazy
I think they existed before this, but were a very small niche market.
This episode was when they took off and went mega-viral. Book readers, knowing this was coming, set up cameras to record their friends and families watching this because they knew the reactions would be epic. It was the spark that ignited the phenomenon that reaction channels have become.

Yay, red wedding. Calling my therapist now.
Walder Frey invited them into his home, and broke bread with them. That is considered the ultimate peace offering and you do not break it under any circumstances. Inviting guests under your roof and then slaughtering them is regarded as worse than breaking any oath.
That's why Robb was so relaxed. He would have never expected Frey to do that after breaking bread!
And for that he will be Rat Cook
Exactly! Its insane to me that Tywin, Walder Frey and Roose Bolton violated such an important tradition, thats bound to break trust all over the 7 kingdoms
Yeah but after it happens it makes sense like rob broke a wedding oath and Frey would’ve been father of the queen in the north
@@lalalalala198 and the riverlands, my boy walder got didnt deserve that disrespect
@@lalalalala198 Even then though, it's a crazy thing. It's the tradition in Westeros that symbolises ultimate trust in order to have diplomacy. Without that to rely on, you can never again have peace talks or negotiations because the tradition might be broken. Of course, David and Dan decided this wasn't interesting or important in later seasons and had peace talks with blind trust because fuck it.

“Love is the death of Duty” - Maester Aemon
Love got Robb killed
Love and his mother. Let's not forget the only reason he needed Frey’s help in the first place was because she freed Jaime. Freeing Jaime led to Kastark betrayal... which led to needing frey. A combination of cat's and Robb mistakes is the reason they're dead.
@@rudyhernandez7128 Not really. Robb would eventually get f'd by the Freys anyway. He wanted to go North again and even if he didnt he would have been trapped in the Riverlands with the Freys at his back. He is the one who burned his bridges with them, and without knowing made it really easy for Walder Frey to do what he was going to do anyway. But he was already f'd when he married Jeyne Westerling/Volantisgirl. If Walder Frey wasnt the kind of person to join the winning side at the end Robb would have been dead way earlier.
@@teunvanderveen6477 not if Robb won the war... tyrion said it best "frey wouldn't risk such actions without certain insurances" if he defeated Lanniesters then frey wouldn't do it. Besides, defeating the Lanniesters means taking the royal fleet... so they could sail up to white harbor. But we're talking about a alternate reality... so who knows. You can go by what could have happen, I'll go by what did happen. And Cat just at fault as much as Robb... go ahead and ignore her mistakes though lol
@@rudyhernandez7128 I think you didnt get what i was saying. He couldnt have won the war because he made the Freys his enemy. I think your dislike of Cat is leading here. You should reread the books
@@teunvanderveen6477 I'm talking about the show since that is what they are watching bro... they ain't reading the Damn book. Robb: "I need men to replace the kastarks that haven't already sided with the Lanniesters" if cat didn't free Jaime then he wouldn't need men to replace Kastark because Kastark would still be there.
Let me get this straight... just because I don't ignore cat's mistakes means I dislike her? Give me a break... you funny AF. Holding cat accountable does not mean I hate or dislike her. It's a simple fact that freeing Jaime play just as big a part in thier deaths as much as Robb being dishonorable.
Would they have died anyways? Maybe, but we don't know. I only know what did happen. But if you think freeing Jaime had no consequences then you're just delusional
The song they were playing before the slaughter was "The Rains of Castamere," which is a Lannister song about House Reyne, who Tywin Lannister destroyed.
That's another brutal story. Someone should read it to them.
Cersei just used it to threaten Margaery in a recent scene. (Was it at Tyrion and Sansa's wedding? Close to there...)
its on the full version on their patreon! they take out alot of clips that they react to on there but they mentioned it in the full clip :p
I was as giddy as Jackson & McKay to see everyone's reaction until Cathlyn's wailed. Her despair over the loss of her "last" son just made me cried, again.
Recommenting here cus this one deserves it.
The indifference on her face when she gets the knife... she already died during that scream.
It hurts so much, she thought. Our children, Ned, all our sweet babes. Rickon, Bran, Arya, Sansa, Robb . . . Robb . . . please, Ned, please, make it stop, make it stop hurting . . . The white tears and the red ones ran together until her face was torn and tattered, the face that Ned had loved. Catelyn Stark raised her hands and watched the blood run down her long fingers, over her wrists, beneath the sleeves of her gown. Slow red worms crawled along her arms and under her clothes. It tickles. That made her laugh until she screamed. ‘‘Mad,’’ someone said, ‘‘she’s lost her wits,’’ and someone else said, ‘‘Make an end,’’ and a hand grabbed her scalp just as she’d done with Jinglebell, and she thought, No, don’t, don’t cut my hair, Ned loves my hair. Then the steel was at her throat, and its bite was red and cold.
"No, don’t, don’t cut my hair, Ned loves my hair."
ugh that hurts the most. I had always thought the Lady Stoneheart thing was cool, but it's even more tragic than the Red Wedding; at least in her madness Cat thought she'd see Ned again. Now as Stoneheart she isn't even really alive anymore, just a hollow shell of Catelyn Stark...and still separated from her family. God it hurts.
George's prose is so good that even this scene is beautiful in a way
Honestly I really want to see how Lady Stoneheart plays out.
God...I read this in the mid-2000s. I remember throwing my book across the room. It hit the wall, and some of the pages fell out. Makes me laugh whenever I open the book now and see the evidence of my reaction.
29 episodes in and they’ve finally started Game Of Thrones!
In the books, long before the red wedding when Dany was walking in the house of the Undying one of the rooms had a feast filled with dead people, there was a man with a crowned wolf's head at the head of the table. But they didn't put it in the show 😔
Instead the show substitutes it for the scene next episode where Arya is being led away from the twins and she sees his head sewn onto his direwolf atop the horse (unless that was this episode and they didnt how that part but I think it's next)
@@AfterlifeAnubis If my memory is correct from reading the books then the scene where arya sees the wolf head on the body was already in the book... so it wasn't substituted. But it's been over 5 years since I read them, so I could be wrong.
They’re both in the books. I remember because the Arya scene was so difficult to read and I wondered if I had a strong enough stomach to make it. It’s amazing how much foreshadowing GRRM was able to put into the House of the Undying scene in the books. Not a single detail lacking in significance.
@@rudyhernandez7128 oh no I was more confused about which episode they had her visually see the body with the wolves head, just finished rereading the series again but haven't seen the show in a bit
@@AfterlifeAnubis ohh. Yeah it's the finale 3x10. First couple of minutes
You know, I'm just a girl.
A girl who relates with McKay, who can't help but just smile throughout the bloodshed because he knows exactly how his friends are feeling right now.
The red wedding is actually based on 2 real life events from Scottish history the black dinner and the glencoe massacre.
So many crucial decisions led to this. The first being Robb sending away Theon, followed by Cat giving away Jaime, and Robb breaking his vow.
There is still a really high chance that the Freys and Boltons would have betrayed Robb. Tywin's sister was married to one of the Freys. And the Boltons have been at heads with the Starks for the North for millennia. Robb (and to some extent Cat) just made it all the more easy for them.
I hope Cannon and carter are okay😂😩
I think Robb executing Rickard Karstark was one of the most important decisions because it drove away Karstarks, which emboldened Boltons and Freys in their decision to betray Robb.
@@gingermojito8 definitely. The reason that happened though is because Cat sent away Jaime.
Also, House Bolton supplied the 2000 men sacrificed to capture Jaime in Season 1. Roose Bolton was able to get away but he was sent to die by Robb.
This is why Tywin was telling Tyrion to hurry up and consummate the marriage with Sansa… he knew Robbs days were numbered and wanted Tyrion to inherit Sansa’s claim to the North
Never been this excited to see grown men cry
Im always excited for that
In the books is kind of worse as last Cat's thoughts were something like "Please dont cut my hair. Ned loves my hair."
The way the book describes Cat going mad while clawing her face and her thoughts was a masterpiece honestly
Catelyn's pov at that moment are heart wrenching
That's heart breaking. I wonder if they had decided to keep her hostage after Rob was killed but then she went absolutely mad so they realised there was nothing to do with her and decided to kill her?
@@johnnyskinwalker4095in the books she gets resurrected and is vengeful and mad and wants to kill the freys and Lannisters
@@SaeedUrRehman1 yea I knew that lol.
«Leave one wolf alive, and sheep’s are never safe”
"I'll find another" is one of the coldest lines in the whole show.
And it was written for the show! Cat grabs one of Walder's sons in the books. And he basically says he has others.
That's not "cold", that's disgusting and evil.
The best twists aren't the ones we didn't see coming, they're the ones we *should* have seen coming.
That's what makes the Red Wedding such genius writing. The clues were all there. But we were so used to the typical "son will avenge his father" trope, and "good guys ALWAYS triumph" tropes, that we either willfully ignored the signs, or missed them entirely. In hindsight, I always felt kind of stupid for assuming that Robb would win the war, especially after beheading Lord Rickard Karstark. Karstark was right. Robb lost the moment he married Talisa. It was only a matter of when and how.
It’s silly that marrying one girl would ruin Rob in my opinion. Especially with how openly the last king cheated for like 20 years.
@@akhnatenpage4854 Robert did those things during a time of peace as king whereas Robb messed up during a war where his life was constantly at stake, especially against an enemy like Tywin who was known for fighting wars in the most devious ways to win. Marrying Talisa was the only mistake Robb made but it hurt his reputation and honour as a king which only breeds rebellion during a time as volatile as war, especially when his followers are Northerners who respect honour above anything else. So that eventually snowballed into the Karstarks and Frey's abandoning his cause who made up over half of his army and resulted in his downfall since Tywin got to Walder Frey first and allied with him so Robb could never win him back. Robb's fate was sealed the moment he broke his marriage vow.
I didn't help that Winterfell and parts of the North along the coast were under control of the Greyjoys at this time.
@@eggz5877 Robert had too many strong supporters backing him - Jon Arryn in the Vale, Ned in the North, and Hoster Tully in the Riverlands. Tywin had power during Robert's reign, but not allies. (And full-out enemies in Dorne due to the Elia and the children. And the Tyrells also had been Targ supporters.) He needed to play a long game. He's more free to make moves without repercussion now that the kingdom is divided into several factions and at war.
Robb needed to gain allies and men beyond the North. Robb had the men from the Riverlands loyal to House Tully, but not all of the Riverlands. The Freys are essentially the Boltons of the Riverlands, hungry for years to take over Top Family from the Tullys. And Robb broke the terms of their alliance.
@@jcompton8507 Yeah tbh Robb couldve won regardless of who he married if Stannis didn't have the cheat code of killing Renly with a demon lmao. That whole thing also destroyed Robb's chances of winning cause Renly was the best ally Robb could've had since he had like over 100,000 soldiers and was willing to let Robb be king of the north.
“Yes, now the rains weep o’er his halls and not a soul to hear.” - The Rains of Castamere
Michelle Fairley's performance is so underrated in Game of Thrones, she did an amazing job portraying Catelyn Stark. Some Fun Facts from the books: Greywind was being aggressive with the Freys since Robb arrived at The Twins. Catelyn basically claws her face with her nails in madness as she sees Robb being killed. Walder was going to keep her alive as an hostage to force the river lords to bend the knee to King Joffrey but seeing her descend into madness, the ended up killing her. Her naked body is thrown in the river (as a mockery of the funeral customs of House Tully.💀). She's dragged out by Arya's direwolf and then found by the brotherhood without banners. This man named Harwin, the former Master of Horse in Winterfell begs the brotherhood to bring her back to life, Beric gives up his life to bring her back to life. She's called Lady Stoneheart and is basically going around killing anyone related to the red wedding. She's specifically looking for Jaime Lannister bc in the books they say "Jaime Lannister send his regards" instead of "The Lannisters". GRRM said she will have big impact on the ending of Game of Thrones. Is a shame the writers never portrayed her in the show😭😭
might wanna add "spoilers" to your comment for the guys that haven't read/watched beyond this point. Also, I hope GRRM finishes the series man I can't wait for the next book 😭
@@yellowrain2062 oh sorry!😅 didn't even think about that. Omg there's a rumour trending on twitter, basically this cake company or bakery in new mexico, got a order to make a cake in dragon shape and is to celebrate a book release. Not trying to get my hopes up but we might get it soon.
@@amnasiddique6886 no problem! I really hope it is the Winds of Winter they're talking about, highly doubt it though 😔 Maybe another spin off book?
Cannon looked so defeated, Carter was in shock, and Brig was unusually so quiet. I can’t stand seeing these 3 like this.
In the book, Robb instinctively goes to warg into Grey Wind, but he's already been killed and there's only darkness. Jon and Robb figure out the warging to different degrees in the books. Also, just as Ned's death aired on Father's Day, this episode aired on Mother's Day!!
Did you read the books? Robb isn't a POV character, so we have no idea.
We know Bran and Jon and Arya can Warg because they are POV characters and we're inside their heads.
But we just assume Robb and Rickon have the ability based on details other POV characters observe about their relationships with their wolves.
So we actually have no confirmation that Robb could Warg into Grey Wind. We just assume.
And the Red Wedding is told through Cat's POV, so we don't know what Robb was thinking when he died.
Oh, that's messed up! 😂
THE WAY THEY PAUSED THE SHOW LMAOOO I was smirking like jackson and mckay because the rest's reaction was so genuine and hilarious lmao
I will never forget the first time I saw this episode, one of my greatest traumas of all the series I have seen

The silence at the end of that episode always gets me.
Almost nobody recognizes bolton in the wedding at first watch. No one cares who bolton is until now. Kudos to you guys for keeping track of his side story.
well, this is actually the scene that CREATED the love for reaction videos... all the people that had read the books and knew what was coming, recorded their friends/family's reactions and they went viral!! truly an unforgettable scene, I was looking forward to your reaction!

Congratulations on surviving the red wedding trauma. 😂
I'm not sure they survived though. everybody dies a little inside watching the red wedding ;)))
Wouldn’t say Carter died a little though. He died A LOT 😂
People always act like it’s so simple that the Starks are just dumb and naive but it’s not that simple. Ideally who wouldn’t want to believe in a world of law and order the way the Starks try to. And they are the only ones with the balls to try and call out the corruption they see. Of course they get punished for it, that’s what happens in the real world too.
This is one episode you remember where and when you watched it. Think it "spawned" the reaction genre on youtube.
People that read the books filmed their friends/partners reacting to it and it blew up on youtube.,

Ned's death and the Red Wedding really changed storytelling. Now everyone tries to write these sorts of scenes in their shows/books/movies/etc.
Most gut punching moment in TV that was also aggressively foreshadowed.
This is what makes early Game of Thrones so brilliant. Every death (and, really, every major plot point) feels _earned_. It shocks you, but it doesn't come out of nowhere. You go back and see the build-up.
The best thing about being a book reader however bazillion years ago while your friends were sobbing on the couch, the rest of us were cackling that they named the baby Ned.
Bwahahaha. Yes! Everyone I watched the show with were book readers, so we knew it was coming. But the Red Wedding is one of a few examples of where the stuff that D&D added really created additional value. The suffering was terrible!
Rob made 2 major mistakes he betrayed his oath to walder frey and executed lord karstark. Both times he went against what katlyn said
And sent Theon to his family, allowing the Greyjoys to raid the North. People forget that the North is a mess. It's the major reason Robb was losing support of the Northern lords.
Mckay just couldn't stop smiling during the wedding 😂😂
Can't believe we're finally here.
Again. They posted this two days ago too! :(
24:50 The Freys throw her body into the river because she's a Tully. (Fish is their sigil) Then Arya in one of her wolf dreams in Nymeria pulls the body out the river and it's found by the Brotherhood without Banners. The guys who follow Beric Dondarrion, the guy who can come back to life. Beric transferred his "fire" into Catelyn and thus Lady Stoneheart was born.
One of the hardest scenes to watch in television history. And “The Rains of Castamere” is a Lannister song and Cat recognized it when it started playing and immediately knew Frey wasn’t an ally if a Lannister song was playing. You’re no longer summer children.
The North Remembers ❤
Well, I already saw this reaction the first time it was uploaded, but glad it's back up again for the ones who missed out. It'd be nice if y'all would drop the reupload and the new upload on the same day at times like this.
Anyway, I'll say it again, after witnessing the Red Wedding, y'all are no longer sweet summer children, so congrats! This accomplishment comes with depression and trauma, courtesy of Game of Thrones. And yeah, I'm pretty sure the Talisa part is the most traumatizing part for most people.

“I’m not angry, I’m just sad.” - 😂
Jon just doesn’t have the Stark name but Ned is his father so he is a Stark. He’s got Stark blood! And yeah, no matter how many times I see The Red Wedding, I still get traumatized. “The Lannister’s send their regards!”…OMG! 😳 Death to The Frey’s and The Bolton’s!
That Sunday night this episode came out the internet was going NUTS…. this is why reaction channels exists. It’s so sick I laugh at these reactions now to this episode 😂😂😂
Finally a group that understands the even though we love(ed) Rob, he made stupid decisions that lead to this. They don’t know how to play the Game of Thrones.

Thanks for the upload, Lord of Light. Lead us from the darkness, O my Lord. Fill our hearts with fire, so we may walk your shining path.
"I have known Lord Walder since I was a girl. He would never harm me."
The line "The Lannister's send their regards" was actually different in the book, the line itself is a reference to when Jaime tells lord Bolton to send the Lannister's regards but in the book Jaime instead said something along the lines of "Tell Robb Stark I send my regards" so the line instead turns into "Jaime Lannister sends his regards" which just creates this sweet irony of believing that the person who Catelyn freed was the one who did this. It's a small thing but I'm quite sad they changed it, though "The Lannister's send their regards" is still quite good.
So jamie in the book wasn't going to let arya and sansa go as he promised?
@@Hafsah_Adil It was just a throw away, asshole comment by Jaime to Roose Bolton when Roose releases him to continue on to Kings Landing. Tywin, Roose, and Walder Frey were the masterminds behind this. Jaime knows nothing of the plan. In his fevered state, I don't think Jaime has even picked up on the fact that Roose has "switched sides" (since, of course, it would spoil it for the readers, too).
And, in another asshole move, Roose passes on Jaime's regards to Robb like he asked.
In some ways, I think George wrote this in to make the readers wonder if we missed something...
But even more important, the Red Wedding is Cat's POV chapter. So _she_ hears "Jaime Lannister sends his regards" and assumes Jaime is behind everything. And I imagine it' s going to matter _a lot_ to Lady Stoneheart...who seems to be completely driven by revenge...
...if we ever get more books...
@jcompton8507 thank you for explaining everything, I always thought jamie know cuz of what he said ,but i only watched the show ,my friend finished the book and he is going crazy waiting for the others to be released, so i will not submit myself to the same fate,

NO NOT THE RE UPLOAD!!😫
If you remember a couple of episodes ago even JOFFERY was looking at everyone sideways when they were telling him not to marry Sansa anymore!! He said something about how the a vow of marriage is sacred!! So yeah Rob fucked up pretty bad after a bunch of rewatches I don’t fuck with him or Kat🤣😂Right after capturing Jaime all they did was fumble!! Side note Carter is becoming desensitized he just watched a ladies neck get sliced wide open and he didn’t cover his eyes he barely flinched😂
Kat made a few mistakes, but the two major ones that fucked them (executing lord Karkstark and betraying the betrothal) were Robbs. They wouldn't have needed the Frey troops if the Karkstarks hadn't left them. And Kat explicitly warned Robb against both of those decisions.

The way this episode had everyone in a choke hold.
Fun fact the song that Catelyn recognised is the "Rains of Castermere" which tells the tale of house Castermere that fell for crossing the lannisters. The previous episode it was discussed with Cersi and Magaery. The songs serves as a warning and a lesson and Cat knew that something was low-key wrong because everyone at the wedding were Northerners so why play a Lannisters song at the wedding when the two houses are at war?

I remember watching the Red wedding the first time it came up. I was 17/18 yo i think and I was completely lying on the floor, weeping at the end of that episode. Give me trauma to this day but still enjoy watching people reacting to this episode especially.
i watched this episode yesterday aswell and when i tell you the tears were running down my face! i dont cry but i was definitely crying for this episode.
@17:04 everyone shocked. Mckay smiling hahaah
People who read the books knew... but we keep our mouths shut. A true book fan will never spoil it for you.
We just come to drink your tears ❤😉
The Freys throw Catelyn's dead body into the river. She is found and dragged ashore by Nymeria, Arya's direwolf, while Arya is warging into her while dreaming. After dragging her ashore, Nymeria is scared off by the Brotherhood Without Banners. Ser Baric Dondarrion kisses her and the magic animating him reanimates her, and he dies. From that point, Lady Stoneheart leads the Brotherhood, but she changes their mission from protecting the people to avenging the Red Wedding.
We can see the satisfaction in the eye of whose already watched the red wedding and see the chock of whose haven't yet
Carter taken that moment of Silence.
4:10 ”Bro, this is painful“
Oh you sweet summer child~
Carter's face is the same as mine, the trauma was reflected in my face after the red wedding.
The silence was so LOUD lmao
Oh this was just as amazing as expected! 2 are smiling and the rest are super depressed. 😁 Perfection.
"but....did the leach have anything to do with that at all??"
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
that's actually a GREAT question. Did Melisandre's magic work or not? did the lord of light cause this to happen? is the lord of light real? is the magic even real or something else?
these are all the questions that GRRM wants you to ask yourself.
I’ve been waiting for this reaction haha
I was waiting for this to be uploaded. Golden reactions from u guys 😂
Thank you for this! Hopefully we can see the 10th episode too by this week.
"If you think this story has a happy ending, you haven't been paying attention."
I love McKay so much 😂give these poor boys a hug though, oh my god.
Wound up here late night randomly in my feed but these reactions are so much more goated on Patreon
I’ve been waiting for this episode reaction lol
I spy with my little eyes 3 broken men…
Lol McKay is the physical embodiment of the audience….
“Love is the death of duty.”
One good thing about the red wedding is that no one expected it to happen (aside from book readers) making people shocks and devastated at the end
The red wedding is always a thing. 😢 Arya was so close to her family just breaks my heart but thank the seven gods the hound saves her
The song that was played is the official theme for the Lannisters "The rain of castamere" which is why Cat reacted. She heard the theme and started to piece everything together.
The show tried to drop the song in here and there as much as they could - Lannister men singing it in a brothel, Bronn singing it as he and Tyrion journey to KL. They ended one of the episodes with a cover of the song by The National.
And of course playing it as the Lannister theme during big moments.
Too bad many _still_ didn't pick up on it.
26:45 “Love is the death of duty”
In the books Catelyn is revived by Thoros of Myr the same way he revives Lord Beric Dondarrion, but if I remember correctly that ability can de used once at a time, so Beric dies instead and I believe then Cat takes over The Brotherhood and starts hunting down every Lannister ally she can find and executes them, gaining the name "Lady Stoneheart". Sadly, it was never adapted to the show.
(Forgive any mistakes, I've only read the book more than ten years ago and only read them once)
No, Thoros refuses to try to resurrect her because she has been dead for days, and her body is waterlogged from floating in the river. (Nymeria pulls her out.)
It was Beric who gave his "last life" to her through "the kiss of life."
Making Lady Stoneheart the de facto leader of the Brotherhood, giving her all of Beric's followers.
Please tell me you guys are gonna drop the next episode aswell ? Since this was Wednesdays release ?
LMAO at the 2 cracking up 😂 and other 3 depressed
