Michael Keaton and Jack Nicholson are the best.
Wait, I thought that other guys name was Jackson? Hahaha
👏👏👏👏
2:07 ...Jack respects the hell out of Michael :)
@@Picnicl That has nothing to do with this clip. Thanks
@@Picnicl Thanks for your kind words, Picnicl. Your statement about the order of actors' names in the credits has nothing to do with the original comment, namely, in that moment at 2:07 we can tell that Jack respects Michael. Whether he respected him before or after, and to what degree, is irrelevant.
@@Picnicl My suitability to those roles has again no relevance to the original discussion, although it seems you too would be unfit for the roles given how much you have managed to convolute a simple conversation. Unfortunately, you appear to believe humans are only ever capable of feeling one emotion at any given time. Even if Jack insisted on being credited first, which one may argue was well within his rights as an accomplished actor at that time, it would not directly translate to a sign of disrespect to Keaton. Even if it did, what he says and how he behaviours here - which was what the original comment was in response to - has absolutely no bearing on how he feels towards him at that time. You have no evidence to support any "underlying intent" that Jack has for acting how he does. I understand what you're trying to say, but i'm afraid it's weak and baseless, and certainly not worth continuing. Good day.
@@Picnicl The greatest thing you'll ever learn is to love and be loved in return. Very best
@@BedlamsBluff Jack was the star of the movie ...I love Keaton's Batman he's the best but the movie could have been called the Joker as alot of people said back in 89 .
In a 2020 interview, Michael Keaton revealed he was really nervous and self conscious about working with Jack Nicholson, because he's so strong on film and had so much power, and it ended up just being great because Nicholson made everybody feel really, really, relaxed. They ended up becoming close friends.
Just like the real Batman and joker
@@MrGabeanator LOL
@@elfsieben1450 ik
Source? Keaton has said on numerous talk shows he wasn't nervous at all working with Nicholson on the film because they met beforehand and minutes into their first dinner it was clear he wasn't some diva asshole but a good acting partner.
Two acting legends!!! Watching Batman 1989 never gets old what a movie ☺
😍😍😍
"All you gotta do is tell me no, baby", what a great line by Keaton. It really seems like all the doubters and naysayers really just helped to fuel his epic performance as Batman/Bruce Wayne. So it's definitely appropriate of him to thank them all.
Patrick C. shut up nerd.
Bob? Gun.
Fully agree, I loved that he said that. Almost seemed like Jack egged him on a bit, I wonder what he whispered to him. FFWD to his Pennsylvania election ad, Michael Keaton Douglas was a scrappy little kid which you had to be in a big family or in a tough neighborhood. Tell him he can't do something. That's what happened to me and I am the highest paid and educated person in my family. Boom.
@@godphoenix66x you need to live life before saying that shit
I actually thought Michael Keaton was a good choice to play Batman all along. And yes, I have been dining out on that fact for 33 very smug years. 🙂
Batman 89.. Winner and still champion..
dbreiden83080 Only in your mind. That's your opinion not a fact so please stop saying that like it's an absolute fact. Judging by your avatar sweetie, you probably never picked up a Batman comic book or graphic novel in your life.
LOL okay. Wow you took a harmless comment a tad personal.
Shut up! Michael Keaton is the best Batman of the cinematic history!
the best batman to date
Lol hell no
Michael Keaton BEST Batman EVER! 🦇
Love how Keaton shut all the haters up. Best Batman ever.
Pre internet too lol.
Now there’s another one on the way
Yeah before internet they wrote letters lol
Christian Bale was 2000 times better but I'll let you live in your fantasy land.
@@godphoenix66x except he wasn't he sounded like he had a smokers cough those movies are great bale is great but he's not better then Keaton
A truely awesome pair.
Adam Smith
That's what she said
I love the fact that Keaton finished his speech off by basically saying F you to all the people that went too far with their distaste of him being hired for the role 2 years before.
That epic ending left Jack speechless. I loved that
This is just iconic: Batman and the Joker accepting an award together 🤟🏻
Side-note: Jack Nicholson’s voice is very relaxing for some weird, psychotic reason.
It's because he's slightly stoned pretty much all the time. 🙂
If you watch the making of The Shining, he's actually very chilled out! His whole presence is charismatic as fuck even just being himself!!
Michael Keaton have an awesome glasses!
Megaloton8210 and nice tux.
He got them in Malaysia. He was in the area.
Its those eye brows!!
Lol back then those glasses were real… now they’re all fake 🤣🤣😂
It's a shame we may never see Nicholson act again. He nails every role he is in. An absolute legend.
Shame? No, it's a blessing we got to see it.
No other Batman will ever beat the hype we lived in 1989 when this movie was released. The film, the merchandising, the news...and of course, the Batdance.
I love how Keaton mentions the pissed off fans that wrote him letters saying your gunna suck and don't be batman, back out. BUT guess what! MICHAEL KEATON PROVED all those mad fans WRONG! HE NAILED IT AS BATMAN! and WILL ALWAYS BE BATMAN! THANK YOU TIM BURTON FOR NOT CHANGING YOUR MIND AND STICKING WITH KEATON AS BATMAN!
look how much class they have giving thanks to the behind the screen people
Michael Keaton- Best Batman ever!
Jack Nicholson- Best joker ever!
Ben Affleck,George Clooney,Val killer, couldn't hold a candle to MICHAEL KEATON!
Best Batman
@Ryan Deery ... bud your comment is 7 yrs old, it's now 2021... and Keaton is gonna be Batman again in the forthcoming Flash movie 2022!
@@Robocoppat Heath Ledger was better than Jack Nicholson
When I see this it brings A SMILE TO MY FACE!!!!
I remember the car ride home from the theaters when my dad took me to see the 89 batman. I was so amazed by what I saw, i pretended I was riding home in the batmobile and the joker was chasing us. Easily my favorite movie. 2nd is T2
I agree. I was a young boy when I first seen batman (1989) in the theater with my parents.
I was 11 when I saw Batman, and it was one of the biggest cinematic impacts I'd ever experienced.
@@Syklonus I remember seeing everything Batman that summer the movie hit theatres. McDonald’s, magazines, toys, malls, etc.. good times.
Jason Walker - aha ha that is like my Superman(78) story.
Saw it for the very first time at a little thing most youngsters don't know about called a drive-in movie theater. You ever heard of those kids? Well, it was a fan-darn-tastic time, and Batman never looked better on the big screen. In fact, I saw the first three Batman films all at the theater, two at the drive-in (the Burton films) and the third at the traditional theater (Schumacher's crappy but serviceable film).
Keaton's batman will always be top! He had been my favorite actor since 1979 working stiffs. I found out the night batman was playing on The big screen..... My baby girl was coming in 8 months! I was so happy that night!
Wow, what an amazing night that must have been. Great post. Really made me smile. God Bless.
One of my favorites as well. I haved liked him at everything he did

Omg I swear that’s the best line! 😂
The first 2 Batman movies from Tim Burton and Michael Keaton will forever be in my top movie lists of all time. I agree with a comment made earlier about the re-watch ability those 2 films have. The nostalgia is there of course but Tim Burton really does transport you to a different world in those films and IMO the best films out there are the ones that are fantastical / escapism. Nolan/ Bale films were amazing but I just don't watch them as much as I do the Burton ones. Plus Keaton's easily my favorite live action version of Batman and I doubt that will ever change.
yes I agree! both are great actors but Keaton pulled off the duality better... Keaton is key !!! lol
Agreed. I just re-watched all the Batman films (starting with Batman: The Movie (1966,) and was curious what happened after Batman Returns. To summarise my research:
McDonald's pulled the Batman Returns toys from their tie-in because Catwoman was too provocative and the Penguin was too scary with black goo coming out of his mouth.
That made Warner Bros. lose their shit because they were focused on merchandising and blamed Tim Burton for Batman Returns not making as money as they'd hoped (almost $100 million less than Batman), so told Tim Burton to step down as Director for the 3rd film but stay on as Producer. Joel Schumacher took the Director's chair with instructions to make it lighter and more family friendly than the Burton movies.
Then Michael Keaton, already upset about Tim being sidelined, read the script, said "it sucks," and bailed.
Val Kilmer was cast as an emergency replacement.
In Batman Forever we were introduced to bright lights, black lights and neon, with everything feeling more toy-like and silly. It took $22 million more than Batman Returns at the Box Office.
Then Tim Burton bailed completely.
Val Kilmer was already booked for filming The Saint, so couldn't come back.
George Clooney was cast, with Schumacher remaining the director.
In Batman & Robin, Warner Bros. returned the superhero genre back to the camp nonsense Keaton and Burton had worked so hard to recover it from, and the Dark Knight was once again a joke.
It took around $55 million less than Batman Returns and killed the franchise.
Batman is amazing. Lol batman Returns is not good, too much Tim Burton
I love those two movies with all I have. But I was "Returns" was shot in the same set as Batman. It has a different feel to it, and the first movie is my favorite. Perhaps the movie I've watched the most times in my life.
@@-Anonymous-. Wtf do you mean
Wow 2 of the greatest of all time! Nobody even match them even now in 2016
I can’t even watch movies now
And 30 years later he’s still the best Batman
Best live action joker by jack Nicholson too
Til march anyway ;)
Same. Always.
Rob might have something to say about that.
@@Ben-pd2bx absolutely shit all over Michael’s version, I liked keatons Batman but he’s literally got nothing on Pattinsons Bruce now. Pattinson is by far the best Batman, because his portrayal is actually true to the comics.
Keaton and Nicholson is what I grew up with and always be the definitive live action joker and batman
I love how Nicholson looks so zoned out during Keaton's speech.
But in all seriousness, they were both brilliant in their roles, the defining Batman and Joker for me(yes, I'll see the Dark Knight at some point).
I love how Jack Nicholson reminds Michael Keaton to blast the bastards who said he couldn’t do Batman justice. Keaton was and is the only Bruce Wayne/Batman that exists.
Lmao you were funny
"Hey Keats, don't forget to tell the assholes to go fuck themselves!"
Forever
Curiosity: he is the only Bruce Wayne. All other Batmen have the comic book accurate character of being Batman rather than Bruce as the real persona, but Keaton's real persona is Bruce.
@@youngfox2186 You think? He seems pretty uncomfortable in Wayne's skin to me... As if, I don't know. He waited sitting in the library till a giant batsymbol hit him in the face.
Keaton's mannerisms remind me a lot of Nicholson. I never noticed it until this video.
I think the best Batmans would've also been able to play the Joker.
@@willcastro3805 no doubt. Keaton did stand up before, is naturally funny and had done a lot of comedies before doing Batman. Not to mention he did Beatle Juice and I'm actually shocked that Burton did not pick him up to play The Joker.
Same eyebrows
love that 0:15 handshake and then the "come on, partner!" signal. Mostly watch this video for that, love Michael Keaton!
fucking Nicholson man... what a legend.
Two legends. Real characters both on and off the screen.
Keaton was the best Batman
I was so obsessed with this movie.
Keaton out of the bat suit: This guy aint intimidating at all haha..
Keaton in the bat suit: Holyshit!!
That was the point that even Tim Burton said. If Michael went out on the street as himself, you wouldn't go 'uh-oh'. He looks like type of guy who would need to dress up as a bat for effect.
I liked the idea of having Bruce look like a regular guy because it kinda made you realize anyone could be Batman like Bob Kane said
@@Kiiieeechiii except anybody couldn't be Batman. Bruce Wayne is a superior specimen of a human being to be able to do the things he does to battle crime. That's not Mr. Mom.
@@godphoenix66x I always viewed Burton's take on Batman as somewhat supernatural.
This "average joe" unassuming guy doesn't look like he could fight his way out of a wet paper bag, but once he flips that switch and becomes Batman, he can kick a man across a roof and through a door.
Hell, he picks up Jack Napier, flat footed, like he's picking up a bag of feathers.
still the best Batman hands down.
Love Michael Keaton 😃
BEST Batman and BEST Joker.

Agreed, too much CGI in the others.
You mean YOUR best batman and best joker,,, okay i got ya
Jack Nicholson was good but Keaton was an awful batman
Good to see there are still no shortage of retards online. Keaton was BY FAR the best Batman ever, & Nicholson is at least in the top 3 best Jokers.
A solid Batman and one of the cleanest badass suits in cinema ever.
I was born 2 years after the Batman movie was released and i hearing those letters protesting and questioning Michael Keaton's ability got me curious. Idk man he did a great job he's the perfect Batman tbh and that speech, i thought it was empowering. Wow

You wouldn't hit a guy with glasses would ya?
You can't make an omelet without first breaking some eggs
2 legends!!!
The best Bruce Wayne and the best Joker.
Lol no es solo tu Opinion pero No es un hecho

Keaton and those legendary eyebrows, man!
Great pair in the beginning of Batman. Jack should have been nominated for academy award for playing the Joker.
He really should have. He did a fantastic job.
so he did🙂
It’s so awesome to see Jack Nicholson and Michael Keaton cheering each other on as pals.
from back then till now I will always like batman and batman returns .... great work from director and actors ..
Jack to Michael: Did a hell of a job!!
He sure did.
Keaton's last comment is like a Tweet before Twitter existed lol
Seeing Sonny Crockett hand Batman and Joker the award for Best Picture kinda makes me realize there is a God.
The 80s and very early 90s were awesome
Yessss
.BY THE YEAR 2035 THIS WILL STILL BE THE GREATEST BATMAN MOVIE EVER MADE
I'm thinking about Keaton thanking the haters and them sending hate mail pretty much. You know how much energy it took back in those days to do that. Actually writing a letter. Seal it in an envelope. Then take it to the post office and buy a stamp and then mail it...... because some guy got cast in a role.

I don't know why but I love seeing these guys interact. Batman and The Joker. And Keaton and Nicholson remained best friends. I LOVE that!
34 years later and he still fit in the cowl... keep those letters coming.
Say what you will about Burton vs Nolan, at the end of the day no one has come close to Keaton's Batman. In 30 years no one has done the Dark Knight better.
absolutely
Tim Burton took a gamble and paid off big time.
Nolan raised the bar.

They said the same about ledger playing joker and Joaquin. Never listen to idle chit chat . Always watch the film and have your own opinion. Michael was and will always be the best Bats
Two class acts
There is so much work that goes into achieving a cohesive style that the first batman pulls off. The first is still the best in my mind for the sheer fact that nothing really is like it.
Think about it, you can't get more late 80s than this, Detective Crockett,Jack Nicholson and Michael Keaton during the Batman 89 hype train.
The more you think about it, this movie is really more a joker movie than a Batman movie. He gets more screen time and has a more clear origin story
My two favourite actors
I think Tim Burton was the best when it came to Batman. The comics are very dark, creepy, daring, and fun. and tim Burton has that style. I like the new ones, but they got nothing on the original. Also, Michael Keaton made a great Bruce Wayne. Had that swave and mystery to him.
Now these guys are the best.
Legends ✊
Both are great actors. No doubt !
How can you not love these two??
Jack is a true artist
them two look and act like brothers hahahaha
I can watch the movie all day as well and I agree as well with both.
