It's a good line, considering it was stolen from the first season of the Simpsons, originally said by Nelson Muntz in Season 1 Episode 5 "Bart the General", just slightly changed, "... You made me bleed my own blood."
The fact that Ben and Christine are married in real life and in every movie they loathe each other is one of the funniest running jokes ever.

Fun fact: Justin Long was the first one to film the dogging balls scenes and they used a professional softball pitch machine on full speed. Vince Vaughn went second and said “what the fuck!? who would do that!? turn that shit down to low NOW” and the crew was like “Justin did the whole thing on high and might have a sever concussion” lmaooo

As many times that I've watched this movie, I never noticed that the treasure chest at the end filled with Peter's winnings had "Deus Ex Machina" written on the front of it.

That is actually a protest from the director. In Dodgeball's original ending, Peter and his team were supposed to lose everything and Globo Gym was going to win. But the studio didn't want that ending, and forced the director to make a new ending where Peter wins. In quiet rebellion, the chest is marked "Deus Ex Machina" (God in the Machine) which is a writing term for an (often implausible) plot device to bring about a contrived ending.
Ex means "from" or "out of", not "in".

@@jupiterrising887 I've seen that alternate ending on the Blu-ray, but there's no way that's real(as unintentionally funny as it is). That had to be a gag extra feature. If they'd ended the movie like that, it would've bombed.

I'll never forget that after this movie came out, Game Show Network cashed in on the popularity and put on a dodgeball tournament of their own. Pretty sure I was one of only like, 13 people who watched it but it's embedded in my memory.
I remember that too but I thought it was on comedy central. Plus I do remember one of the players on the German team in the movie was one of the players because there was a pro league at the time and many of them were used in the movie as the other teams.
So many great lines in this!! And the Lance Armstrong cameo is even funnier now given all that we know!

What makes the repulsion from Christine Taylor's character toward Ben Stiller's character even better is that they've been married to each other in real life for decades. Also, I've seen some people recommend them, but I also highly recommend Zoolander, Heavyweights and Mystery Men for Ben Stiller!
An extremely underrated Ben Stiller film is *The Secret Life of Walter Mitty.* Stiller directs and stars. Ive yet to meet anyone who didnt like it, and the ending is freaking AWESOME.

Cotton was the boss in Office Space, too (along with the stapler guy). Also, please watch Mystery Men - it's a Ben Stiller must-see!!!! P.S. 'Joanie Loves Chachi' was a short-lived spin off of Happy Days. Ben Stiller really dug deep for that obscure reference! lol
Ben Stiller,Vince Vaughn and Jason Bateman are together in another 2000s comedy, Starsky and Hutch along with Will Ferrell and Owen Wilson. I would recommend it.

Two fun facts about this movie:
Ben Stiller basically just replayed his character from Heavyweights, a comedy from the 90s where he played a narcissistic abusive fitness instructor. That one is pretty funny as well, especially after seeing the exact same character in Dodgeball first. The similarities are uncanny.
The end of this movie was originally supposed to have GloboGym win the dodgeball tournament and the Average Joes go home having lost everything to them. This was a subtle joke to tie into the tagline: “a TRUE underdog story”, as in a realistic one. However, it fared poorly with test audiences, so they changed it at the last second to this ending. That’s why you see fat White Goodman at the end complaining “Good guy wins, bad guy loses. Big friggin surprise. That’s the problem with American cinema. Can’t handle any complexity in it. ‘Don’t make me think! I just want to be entertained!’" That bit was aimed at the test audiences who preferred a happy ending.
Lowkey favorite part of this movie? The championship match referee. He sells it so hard, like dodgeball reffing really is his full-time job lol
Revisiting this film in anticipation of your reaction was so much fun - it's aged SO well, I laughed just as hard as the first time I saw it. And something I never picked up on before was the absolutely perfect symbolism of Peter using the bribe money against White. White's whole angle was to undermine Peter's confidence and Peter turned around and LITERALLY bet on himself to win. Brilliant.
It's gotta be the hair, Cotton. Feathered AND lethal!

Missi Pile (monobrow Fran) is imho one of the most beautiful women in Hollywood, best known for Galaxy Quest.

This to me was always a kind of spiritual successor to my favorite movie of all time (as a kid, and now as a bigger kid) Heavyweights.
Classic 90's kid comedy.
MYSTERY MEN w Ben Stiller and Janeane Garofalo and Pee Wee Herman is also a hilarious weird movie that I hope you get to watch❤😃

If I recall correctly, the original ending had Global Gym winning. But the ending didn't test well with audiences, so that's why they added the line violation/sudden death bit.
It's also why they had the credits scene with Stiller's character criticizing audiences not being able to handle complexity in movies.
But they definitely made the right call to change the ending.
To this day, "you're about as useful as a poop flavored lollipop" is my favorite line and never miss an opportunity to say it to someone! 😂

Yeah it's a shame people wouldn't have the balls to make movies like this today. Rather it be they're scared of losing money, or scared of being cancelled. Wokeness (political correctness) has done absolutely nothing of benefit to anything tbh. We just over-corrected and cranked it to an 11.

Love this film, so many cool cameos. Another sports comedy I recommend is Balls of Fury. Another Vince Vaughn film I recommend is Swingers and the film is called Couples Retreat

To get the full "Ben Stiller as an insane health nut guru" you have to watch the classic 90s kids movie Heavyweights! Ben stiller basically plays the same character running a fat camp for kids, and it's hilarious!

Every year ESPN actually turned one of its channel to yield OCHO in which they televise the dodgeball champions, and other obscure sports.
If u haven’t watched it u have to watch Starsky and hutch. It’s got Ben stiller, Vince vaughn & Owen Wilson. It’s highly underrated comedy and a great homage to the original show.
I think Couples Retreat that you mentioned is an incredibly underrated comedy, as is The Watch and The Internship

Loved watching this reaction, it makes the film feel new again. I'm also mega happy for the mention of 'Old School' and that it'll be a possibility to see a reaction here because Samantha hasn't seen it, it was once a must see film but once lots of other films like Anchorman, Dodgeball, Tropic Thunder etc came along it was overshadowed and not talked about as much.
I actually had a commentary team like Cotton & Pepper when I ran a wrestling company, I remember once, for reasons I don't recall, not being able to have them in venue doing live commentary so sent them the edited footage to record it at one of their homes later, I never heard it but my editor was so pissed when he got the audio back, he was like "Dude they were saying the most fucked up stuff, i think they were drunk too, I had to spend forever cutting about 70% of it out so the DVD is family friendly" haha, this film/reaction just brings that memory back. 😂
So the Cheerleading scene at the start…in the unrated version the girl looks back at Justin Long and says “I’m not wearing any panties” winks and clicks her tongue. Poor guy!!!!

White Goodman is one of Ben Stiller's best characters.
This movie still makes me laugh even after watching it more than 10 times. The only scene that didn't age well is the scene with Lance Armstrong who in the end won 0 tour de frances as they we're taking away because of him cheating.
He had cancer. The hormones they detected were not erformance enhancing.

So my sister-in-law and her husband actually met Justin Long in Vegas a few years ago, randomly ran into him in a casino at a card table. Apparently he was super friendly, enjoyed meeting fans, and talked with them for like 20 minutes while getting drinks. Seems like a good guy based on their interaction.
I have a movie recommendation for you to react to: In The Line of Fire (1993), a straight-up thriller of the highest order, featuring a great performance by the always charismatic Clint Eastwood!

You should watch Heavyweights! There's a theory that Ben Stiller's character in that after the end changed his name and became White Goodman. He's definitely a similar villan, haha
He got the jackpot in the end. Jason Bateman is one of my all time favorite actors. Watch the show Silverspoons, Bateman was a kid, but he was hilarious in that show, and he is not even the main character. He was only supposed to be in the pilot, but he was so good, they kept him in the show for a very long time.
And he was hilarious in The Hogans Family (80s sitcom), too!

Bateman was only in the first season of "Spoons". He was replaced by Alfonso Ribero (Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air, America's Funniest Home Videos).

@@robertcherman Yes - it was originally Valerie's Family with Valerie Harper starring as the mom. There were salary disputes so she quit/was fired and the show went on as the Hogan Family (with Sandy Duncan coming on as the aunt). They killed off mom just so the show could continue. :(
