The Verge had an amazing video recently in which they put the headphones over a special microphone - I'd love to see MKBHD incorporate that into his vids too for a proper example!
(It's their review of the Dolby Dimension headphones. They pop them over a binaural microphone and it is fantastic.)

What bums me out about phones and tablets losing the headphone jack is there's a delay with wireless headphones so in my experience you can't use them for mobile music production. Wondering if this has changed since the last time I tested it?

Wow, 40 hours of audio?! That's amazing. I bought a cheap $5 earplug and it's got 2 hours of playtime. To be fair it is the smallest earplug I could find, which is perfect for hiding at work (they banned listening to music at my job), and for 5 bucks it's actually really worth it (even though the build quality is inconsistent). But I might look into getting an expensive pair of headphones. I'd get wireless but only if it also had the option for a 3.5mm jack as well.

@@falsecatalyst3936 Studio producers will use open or closed back headphones, the audio quality will always remain high (Depending on the pair) Audiophiles praise the M50x and the Sony mdr-7506, which are both closed back. I'm sure you know that Sennheiser is where to go for open back, but preference may vary. So he is not wrong in saying that they're really good, they are just good in a different way. Preference
@@julpie that's not my point, my point is that the m50x does not sound "flat" it still has coloring to the sound, in fact, when you go to some forum threads in heaf-fi, some say that the m50x sounds a tad harsh.

Been using the WH-1000xM3 for almost 3 weeks now and all i can say is Sony really did listen to the comments of their consumers. It is a big improvement from the last version that they have, for me that makes it the best NC Headphone this year. You should try it and maybe it will fit to your bucket list as one of your favorite headphone this year.

Er. They are good. But the best money can buy? I'm not so sure about that. I've listened to some Stax headphones recently, and they did sound rather impressive. Grado is fine, though the comfort is terrible. And I'm sure the Sennheiser Orpheus does sound good too. In terms of noise cancelling I might agree, though I certainly haven't listened to everything on the market, and I doubt you have either. :)

If Apple released Air-pods with an in-ear design I would switch to them from my Jaybirds immediately. In ear earphones just sound so much richer and can isolate noise so much better, especially with foam tips.

I use an app(Equalizer) to get better bass, and for me that works pretty well with the Sony wh-100xm3.
If you want comfort, go for the surfaces, if you want nearly the same comfort and epic noise cancelling, go for the Sony's.
Sounds quality is nearly equal for both, but the Sony headphones have more equalizer options.
Go for the sonys.. Better ANC plus you have LDAC and the gesture control system is totally dope, i got used to it in minutes and never looked back to buttons

I got the microsoft surface headphones and they come with a cable to plug in to 3.5mm jacks. And they were 100$ off right now because nobody knows about them.

Say what you will about Lines, he is usually more objective and in depth (and that's saying something since there are many tech reviewers more objective and thorough than Linus). MKBHD now caters to a young mainstream audience and not to tech enthusiasts and that's OK but we need to be honest about it.
@@awesomeferret MKBHD isn't a product reviewer though. He's more of a product introduce. Linus is an in depth reviewer. MKBHD does review things, but lightly, just so people know what they're getting into. Linus tells the audience why or why not buy the things.
