Watching this with my phone speaker.
oof
😂 I know this struggle
Ayn
you are sinner
Finally, a review of these which gives enough time to how they sound. So many reviews obsess over everything else and then end with something glib like "they sound great" with no details.
I really wanted to make sure I went over the sound as much as I could because thats what I was most covered with too 👍🏻
After six minutes of listening to specs and being given a audio tutorial of what was presented in tree screen (as if this were a podcast) I didn’t make it to sound quality. I’m sure they sound great, though.
How are the controls being behind your ear awkward? Isn't that exactly where your thumb naturally goes when you raise your arm to your ear?
lmaooo roasted
adamaj it would be easier if they used touch control gestures on the actual ear cup rather than behind it but it’s not too much of an issue.
His hands fell off and they put them back on backwards
You are right, the position is natural, but something about the design makes the buttons hard to distinguish. Maybe it is the gap between buttons? I find myself feeling about to make sure I’m on the center button rather than one of the volume buttons... Maybe time with it will make it easier.
Can someone answer me
If you plug in the cord for the 50xbt and use it wired does it sound better than the x50xs
4:39 I feel like it's worth mentioning that there are plenty of third party cables for the regular M50x with the locking mechanism. I bought a braided cable for mine that worked great.
Thanks for the review!
Great review, subscriber earned! Just bought these, they're shipping today!
Hello, is there a difference between ATH-M50x & the BT version in terms of the sound quality? My primary use is for mixing and mastering but would also like to use it for listening to casual music on the phone and iPad.
Been loving these things! I have had a pair of the white original M50x for a number of years as well, and I used them for almost everything. I also like their sound profile for gaming, however there was no good solution for adding a mic for game chat, other than the Antlion Modmic but I didn't like the 2 cable situation. Well, when these came out I got so excited. A number of things I'd been increasingly wanting in a pair of headphones converged into these! M50 sound quality, Bluetooth which I had been starting to want as the quality has gotten closer to wired, and a standard 3.5mm headphone jack so I could use a VModa Boompro for gaming. So now my M50xbts are my one pair of headphones for literally everything, except for hiking or running or ultra portability. While I will take them on long car rides and such due to that killer battery life, I do have a pair of Galaxy Buds Plus. Surprisingly, they actually deliver a somewhat similar sound profile to the M50s, especially on the Dynamic EQ setting. Full and punchy yet tastefully controlled bass, clear mids with maybe a bit of a frequency dip to keep things from getting muddy, and then nice crispy highs. If your sound philosophy is that of the M50s the Buds Plus make a good companion in a TWS earbud.
Awesome video. I've been debating whether these are headphones for me or not being a huge fan of the original m50s. You answered the only question that mattered to me. I'll be picking these up, and checking back on your videos when I need advice on tech.
hello, how that turned out after 2 years?
What are the differences between the normal M50s and the BT when wired? I want to get the BTs for using on the go but also mixing at home.
This video sold me! I went with the black ones as well! Picking these up and doing my own review over on my channel!
Ive been using the wireless adapter on my m50xs for a couple years. Use them for listening to music, htc vive, and just overall i love these headphones.
Which wireless adapter have you been using? I've been looking for one for a while and i have found a few but I don't know which one to go for as i have never heard of any of the companies selling them
Thanks for mentioning wired connection sound.. It would be great if they introduced almighty M40x BT version as well.. Does it support LDAC?? Although it doesn't matter as u said it sound similar to original wired one..
I believe these guys don't sadly
Great review..honest and detailed..watched this video right before i bought mine just now 😅
Watching this with m50x
x2
Damn! They also works for watching things as VR or something?!
@@nezsanz i dont know i m not interested in vr.
Same
M40x are way better. Period
great video very informative. thank you
Cool video, we are waiting for your next video, keep healthy and keep uploading
Excellent review. I pulled the trigger and ordered a pair.
A right angle jack is best jack
It's mainly for being on an airplane... Bluetooth is not an option for connecting to most, if any, of their entertainment systems. A lot of planes still have the headphone port on the side of the arm rest... It's annoying with a straight 3.5mm adapter as it pokes into your leg, hence why the right angle is perfect.
Exactly, I hate the way straight jacks stick up in your pocket.
lol, no.
ONE end being L shaped is ok, but all types have their use, there is no "best 3.5mm"
Sorry fam you're just wrong.
This post was endorsed by 45° Angle Jack Gang.
@@michaelhaugen1709 don't most of the modern airplanes have the double 3,5mm mono connector though?
I'd argue that there's some quality competition for the QC35s out there from Sony, Sennheiser, and B&W.
If you're a proffessional editor this are great. They're not exactly designed to give you a casual listening experience but more of a sound monitor for mixing. Thus, studio headphones. I love them! Not the best sound stage but the sound separation is superb!
I've been using these for the past 4 years, and I would say that these have a bright and clear sound which makes them great for hearing details. But these aren't as bassy as people say about the original M50X. When I plugged these to my PC, I went to EQ and lowered the highs and added a tiny bump to 50 hz to get a warmer and bassier sound. I think that these are great heaphones for those who prefer clarity over warmth and boomy bass.
Would they work with external microphones even though they have a pretty poor microphone built in? I use Blue Yeti for my voice recordings one that still take preference over the headphone's microphone?
Just got the ATH-M50xBT a couple of days ago. Love it! Great sound quality! What is best for me is the *low 38 Ohm impedance.* In March this year I got an EVO 8 USB interface, and all this time have only used my old(er) Bose QC15 headset (about 70 Ohm impedance) while recording. The volume was/is pretty bad using that headset. I was in for a pleasant surprise when I found that the headphone volume with the ATH is so much louder, and the sound so much clearer! I suspect it is because the QC15 has a 70 Ohm impedance, almost double. So maybe the moral of the story, is this: if you're looking for a headset to use with a USB interface, look for the lowest Ohm impedance possible. Whew, I'm glad I got these; the alternative was/is a Beyer Dynamic 770 80 Ohm unit. I suspect I'd have had the same problem as with the Bose QC15. Comments, anyone?
I just also bout the ath m50 , the had a great sound but lacked power louness a bit more juice and the be great I try a ll thrceq settings an all wrong setting for electronic dance music I thought great for bands an singing after a while the get a bit warm on the ears snd you feel the weight after an hour or 2 , but was put me off fir the price I payed 350 BUCKS AUSTRALIA and I found a cheap set I found on e ay fir 59 bucks where pretty close I sound 5 eq pre set a n d we here big lighter ,but I know the won't last it why I looking for a better option from my ATHM50 X 2 wireless have you git any suggestions
@Michael O'Sullivan no sorry, the ATH-M50xBT has been my only purchase and I love it so not searching for something else...
Comparing this one with Plantronics backbeat pro 2. Which one should I buy?
I just purchased a pair of these. These are my first decent headphones I've ever owned and I'm blown away by the sounds quality! They also fit over the new Oculus Rift S headset. The option to go wired is great for VR for eliminating Bluetooth latency.
What kind of phone case do u got on ur iPhone???
can i use the btm50x wired with my laptop to get started with music production?
yo great vid
Hey thanks man, really appreciate it 👍🏻
I love this headphones.. I just want to know if the Audio-Technica Ath-m50xbt sound signature using the cable is the same that the sound of the olders m50x?
If i remember correctly... yes, they have pretty much the same sound signature (didnt compare them side by side. I also dont have neither of them but i compared m50x to m40x and maybe week later i tried m50x bt)
Does the boompro mic work with this
I had a AKG K512 for a long time, I just bought this M50xbt2 and I've got impressive, the sound quality is amazing. Maybe it's too early to say, but I belive it will be a great gear for music production
they should make a Bose x Audio-Technica using bose's earcups and noise cancelation and audio-technica's sound signature
That might just be the perfect combination 😍
Bose x Audio-Technica makes a pair of earphone together? Call it the B.AT.phones
that will be like a fusion between Goku and Vegeta,Bose with Technica= Bosechica lol
Yes!!!
Or audio technicas with Bose sound signature
I want to buy this headphones for Music production, mixing. Is there a difference between the Bluetooth version and the Wired version when both are plugged in through cable? Will I get the exact same sound? Or is there still a slight difference?
Hey new to this channel. Will you ever do a video on Audio Technica M50x-BT2 ? Wanna hear your opinion so much on how it performs in wired and wireless and if it had any improvements in sound
The 2.5mm cable is actually a Sennheiser design that can be replaced fairly easily, I honestly thing it would be harder to find a 3.5mm cable recessed like that compared to the original one. I feel like I'd really miss the locking part too.
Is the 50xBT good with amps? I'm thinking of buying it for casual listening and playing electric guitar
Maybe a bit of a stupid question, but if you listen to the xBT's with cables instead of over bluetooth, it doesn't lose battery life right?
LeMoustacheMann no it doesn't, not a stupid question dont worry about it :)
Put it this way. you could turn this thing OFF when you're using it wired, & that means it ain't gonna eat up any juice in the battery while wired.
Did anyone expeirence the stereo unbalance, as listening
Experience is slight on the left side
Not me.
Have you tried the "ath-ws660bt"? If so, which would you recommend the m50xbt or the ath-ws660bt?
Hi TechDaily, how is it for audio monitoring?
How do you charge your M50xBT? It said in intruction manual that we should use device not more than 5 volts.. in my case I have the old iPhone charging adapter which is cube in shape and have only 5 volts while the iPad adapter is 5.1 volts and the 12 watts version has 5.2 volts.. I just wondering if those little 0.2 more difference can damage the device as it state in the manual?
may be a stupid question. but there is a reason I ask. essentially I have a (cheap) bluetooth speaker. it has a line in mode so I thought id temporary use this to monitor my live guitar while I was recording some demos. (my old headphones broke :( ) however, even with the line in there was lag... will I get that with the line in on these headphones? or will the live sound be alright in terms of latency. seriously considering these as id use them for guitar monitoring, basic music mixing and my hour long travel to and from work. they'd be perfect. cheers x
Watching this with ATH M50x with the custom ATH M50x Bluetooth dongle FTW. I can take my Bluetooth dongle off and charge it and still continue to enjoy my ATH M50x!
What about if youre wired are plugged into a good dac? I noticed mine sound better on a dac vs on my motheeboard or phone.
Hello i have the headphones now they are great BUT ive been hearing static noise when im using bluetooth and sometimes when i use Bluetooth if i dont have any sound on and then start a song i can hear something like a spark.
Any idea how to fix these problems?
Apreciate help.
Do the ATH-ANC700 BT also deliver the signature Audio Technica sound? Please comment if you have experience.
I have been considering for many BT headphones. And recently I went to ATH store for experiencing. Then I think this is a perfect Xmas gift for me! :D
When using the wire, do the headphones need to be charged, or can it work without it for monitoring?
did you ever get an answer to this question? trying to figure it out myself
The recessed plug can be found for sale - a lot of devices use it to reduce mechanical strain on the plug. Bluetooth will always be worse than wired. What codecs did you use to test?
There is another channel, SonicSenseProAudio, that used a Neuman dummy head to record the sound of the M50x and it's almost identical to the original tracks. I hope the BT one behaves the same way. Thanks for the review and comparison - I've been looking for one for a few weeks now.
I came for a review of the entire product, waited the whole time to see if you would cover the built-in microphone. as per usual, no reviewers include it. Anyone know if the microphone quality of these is any good? and if so what it could be compared to... Thanks
Because there is no mic in this particular headphone, a quick google search would tell you that
adam leyon but there is, he even mentions it
There is a BT mic, and it is somehow not isolated enought, when using it with a phone all the people I talk to complain they can hear themselves echoed in it.
How do these compare to the Sony wh1000 xm3??
I'm thinking of getting these, the only problem with them that I've noticed is the cable, it's too short. I would be using them wireless most of the time but for instances when I'm gaming it would be probably better plugged in for the lowest latency possible. Has anyone been able to find another cable that works with this such as a 3m coiled cable?
Is there touch button on the left side of the cup?
If you completely drain the battery can you still use the headphones in wired mode or does it have to be charged to do that?
If you are watching this in 2019 and you already own a wired m50x just buy a Fiio BTA-10 adapter.
If i didn't make my decision yet what will be the best option get M-50x BT or get the wired one with fiio ada
And this adapter has no effect on the sound quality etc.. Or what because if not the second option will be perfect
Is there latency and noticeable changes in sound when the BT version is plugged in with the accessory cable? Does it sound like your old pair when plugged in?
I can't confirm the difference with the old m50 since i never used that one, but owning the BT version & having tested out them out both in bluetooth & wired mode, the difference is only ever so slightly apparent, if you were to REALLLLLYYYY pay attention to it. the latency difference is indistinguishable otherwise.
the review i was waiting for! thanks mate, love my m50x’s. what are your thoughts on that adapter to make the m50’s wireless?
I haven't had the chance to check that out! Might make an interesting comparison video actually...
Leviah it’s very short range as opposed to built-in Bluetooth. The signal gets sketchy at 10ft with the adapter
I bought M50X BT today but my first impressions were nt good. I donot know its common issue or i felt it, but when we play a song over bluetooth, volume from the left side feels little higher or we can say more heavy than the right side. I tried reversing them over my ears but then it shifted on my right side. I donot know whether its a issue or common thing, plz let me know if somebody using it. I did not feel the balance on both left and right side.
ah man I'm not sure if I should go for the wired or Bluetooth just because of that ''slightly reduced bass and treble''
or it is only when using them wireless but with cable is really no reduced bass and treble and it's all the same
I never used ATH headphones but like from Razer I went from Kraken V1 to Kraken V2 and the bass was quite reduced and it was kinda disappointed
Is there any way I can like test them both ? also it could be be dumb maybe it is really not much difference because I never tried professional headphones before
9:33 How about Sony WH-1000XM3? Those seem to have better active noise cancelling than Bose QC35
no
Hi. Great video. I have the matte gray
M50x and they are great. But with headphone jacks being removed from phones, It's just a matter of time before I'm forced to go wireless. I just want to explore all options. I am definitely
looking for Bluetooth headphones that sound great both wired and wireless. Are there other comparable blue tooth headphones that have just as good sound quality whether they are
being used wired or wirelessly?
You can use adapters, so no need for wireless..
How loud does the BTs drive in comparison to the wired version?
6:49
If it's true, reducing the bass and treble was the right thing to. I always thought the M50's sounded too sweet, which is why I always used the 7509's.
Hi which is a better purchase, this or sony wf1000xm3 wireless earbuds? Both are the same price iny my country
what do you think of m50xbt comparing to m50x connected to an amplifier? You know there is a big difference between connecting the headphone to a smartphone directly and connecting the headphone to an amplifier. I'm using m50x and is thinking about getting a bluetooth amplifier which is pha55bt also from audio technica. so I'm wondering when people say "m50xbt sounds just like m50x", they mean m50x connected to an amplifier or not? :/
flakey earphone pads are my only complaint about my A-T ATH-M50x, everything else is magnificent!
Clover Kismet most headphones with fake leather do that my Bose QC 35 did that after a year or two of use but I used those outside while working 2-3 days a week. An I used them for minimum of 3 hours everyday. Usually more.
Love my M50x Black and got my second pair now ( M50x Gunmetal ones ) - will get my bluetooth ones beginning 2019 I guess
Any Insight if they work fine with the PS4?
Does polishing the leather helps to avoid the cracks?
Do they hook up to the ps4 through Bluetooth?
How do the m50x's not hurt your ears? On mine the treble is so harsh it hurts my ears, so I had to put three plays of paper towels over the driver and put cotton under the top of the pads so it didn't compress against my ears.
Excellent review. Well done! How loud do these sound in comparison to other signature phones such as bose qc35 or Sony h.ear on 2. Most of the Bluetooth phones don't get high in volume, unfortunately!
Ooh good point! The BT's max out at the same volume as the wired M50x's. With that said, I've always sort of considered the m50's to be a little quiet. I run them at about 80% volume comfortably, and I've used the Bose QC's at 60%
@@TechDaily thanks my friend...Wondering if you ve ever tried the Sennheiser momentum wireless and compared them to these ones!
I can't comment on volume, but I find the Audio Technica headphones MUCH more detailed than the QC 35 II headphones. The clarity and definition of the Audio Technica's are 2 or 3 levels above the Bose. I thought the Bose would be comparable... but they are not at all. Good ANC and VERY comfortable, but they sound 'average' compared to Audio Technica. Not the same experience. IMO.
@@MiketheHighLord Thank you!
I don't have the Bose or the Sony so i can't compare, but if you're looking for loudness, as in wanting to make your ears hurt when cranked to 100%, this one's NOT the pair you're looking for. of course, you can still amp the source & make the pair sound louder still, but just note that this ain't a naturally loud pair.
m50x or m40x for purely personal listening and nothing else? and how do both compare with comfort for listening over long periods of time?
Using the M50 with curled cable and These cost twice the money I paid for those. They are good but with the fake leather and plastic exterior like mine I would think at twice the price they might not be super great value compared to others at that pricepoint. e.g. the Bose QC25, the smaller sibling to the QC35, is cheaper.
Are they any good for gaming? Console gaming?
@Pre-Buff Tachanka i ended up buying them and the BT do include a cable with a mic and work just fine
Good review. I had the wired set since 2015. They have been the best headphones over all between price and quality. They destroy beats and the JBL’s I had. Just ordered these.
My one questions is how do you change the ear pad thing? On my wired ones it’s falling apart so I just use them at work but you mentioned with these it’s easy
Beats are a joke and shouldn't be even included in the discussion.
These are indeed terrific headphones. I had some Bose also without NC and they didn't compare to the fullness of these.
I have noticed, the white headphones dont have a bluetooth version?
if my pc only supports 4.0 bluetooth, is it big deal? do i need 4.2 or 5.0 for it sound good or it dont really matter? range dont matter for me latency and sound quality is major importance when i dont use cable
how do they compare with bose soundlink 2 wireless headphones? Are they comfortable for long hours?
Listening on the ath-m50
$150? more like $200
Can the batteries in these headphones be replaced in the future when they run out? are there batteries available on the market?
Hey guys, i bought a m50 bt recently and the right fone is facing the other side. i cant seem to turn it 360 degrees so it faces my ear, and I am a bit hesitant to force it as it may break. Anyone knows how to fix it? Or this was a mistake while
The fone was being built?
I just purchased mine a week ago... there is a static noise on the left when in bluetooth mode... anyone have this also?
SOOOO UNDERRATED
SOOOOOOI OVERRATED! They sound like shit! Too much in the highs and nothing in the midrange...
Can they be use for both pc and phone (iphone)
Encoding high frequency sounds in a wireless connection requires high sampling rate, and thus higher wireless frequency. As there is a limitation here, it's expected that highs get lost. :/
Do they have proper 1/4" jacks?
I still use them with bluetooth dongle which is customized for theSe headsets from Brooklyn Labs...
Does the volume control on the headphones adjust the phones volume or the headphones volume? My current Bluetooth headphones have the separate volume controls, which I find annoying. I just turn up the headphone volume on the headphones and use my phones volume controls.
The phone volume.
Any thoughts on the presonus eris hd10bt?
Please do a review on the new m50xbt2?
I used Bose QC35 II for over 2 years now and I decided to pull the trigger on M50XBT and I don't regret it. Maybe the difference in sound quality is not massive but for someone who can appreciate good sound quality, ATH is better. It is hard to explain the difference. Using ATH's compared to Bose is just like eating scrambled eggs vs eating scrambled eggs done on bacon fat. There is not much difference but a bit more fun. Keep in mind that ATH's don't have ANC.
Does anyone know how long the cable is for the wired version?
It looks like you have an older Macbook (like me, maybe 2015 - ish?). Were you able to use this headphone with it? Afaik the headphone uses Bluetooth 5.0 while the Macbook supports only 4.2
bt5.0 is backwards compatible with bt4.0 and up
Just the vid i was looking for.
Great video
Unfortunately i have the wired m50x and dont know what to use for my xs max
Suggestions?
AirPods have been my wireless earbuds of choice (don't laugh). You can also get a wireless adapter for the M50x's too actually which might make more sense.
TechDaily they all have bad reviews.
I guess I’ll wait (hopefully coming) for the AirPods 2. Thank you for replying tho ❤️
Use the wireless adapter for the m50x’s, i got it like a few years ago, so worth the 50 bucks
Do the buttons work on it while its wired
Listening with House of Marley Liberate XLBTs!!
This headphones are worth to get. Trust me. I owned sony 1000mx3 bose700 35ii. All these are more expensive than ath50bt. If you prefer the sound quality, tone accuracy, realistic of the instrument, clean bass deep and tight, over anything else, then get this headphone. The mids a little forward but perfect for me (i hate v-shaped), highs is very clean and nothing piercing. Theres a sense of warmth in overall presentasion but it does not disturb any treble or bass region. Very nice overall presentation. I like it a lot!
Hi dear friend. I noticed from other people's opinions that the exaggerated bass of wh1000xm4 headphones makes us not hear a clear sound from it.
I wanted to buy m50xbt headphones. Do you think these headphones are a better choice than these Sony headphones in terms of clarity and sound resolution?
