      It's not the 41mm width that bugs me so much about the Black Bay. It's the overly thick 14.8mm case. This is where the 58 is a winner.

    Great video, I have to say the Tudor GMT looks stunning. One of the under the radar watches of this year is the Blancpain Fifty Fathoms and Breguet Marine Collection, a shame that this year Basel is much smaller than last years, but still had a great day there

Of course that was their way of saying “we don’t want to sell this to you” and they’ll end up going to vip’s who’ve spent much more money there than I have.

Few weeks ago, I went to a Patek Store, and was asking about Nautilus, and I was immediately informed that they no longer taking orders/reservations, as their waiting lists have already passed five year mark. Very well thought out, but I do disagree a lil. The Pepsi GMT master was a surprise but the toolier Tudor Pepsi was my release of the year.
    As well I was just stunned by the Tag heuer tourbillion Chrono, which looks great and offers a complication for a very interesting price.
    What liked to was Rolex release of a plain black and white dial for their OP watches in 34, 36 and 39mm.
    The new seamaster I did expect but the wave structure doesn’t do it for me.
    Still, this years baselworld was since a long time a really exciting one.
    And leaves me excited for the next ...

    The Pepsi GMT Master II in "Oystersteel" has to be the star of the show. But the price of this watch is almost close to the previous versions in White Gold. It shud hv been much cheaper. We won't find it anyways. Rolex has a way to control the supply and thus hv resorted to continuously keep a shortage of their Steel Sports watches. I preferred the GMT Master on the Oyster bracelet. It has that toolish look. The jubilee suits the Datejust. But then thats just me. I like the Black Bay as well. Overall very well done. I was hoping u wud review the new piece in Platinum from Grand Seiko as well, wth a 50K Euro price tag.

    • @Jungleman707
      @Jungleman707 Před 6 lety +3

      Have you ever tried on a Rolex and a skx009? On the wrist, ... its like a BMW vs a Lada. The Rolex feels so good its hard to take it off.. the feeling of quality and precision is amazing and very comfortable... The skx009 bracelet is so cheap and nasty, the only solution is to take it off and throw it in the trash, and use a Nato strap.

    • @j.r.5803
      @j.r.5803 Před 6 lety

      Daniel D'Esposito I think he his meaning the aesthetics of the bracelet. That i most say looks cheap and ugly. But its true that its well made. Its what rolex does best effective bracelets. Just the aesthetic isnt the best. They should had done like the white gold version. Talking about it now it has a blue dial. I think they should had kept the black and added the blue as a choose between both.

    What would you suggest for someone who will treat their watch as a tool, rather than a price of jewelry? Military use, and I need to switch to something more reliable, ie no batteries. All my friends say Rolex or Patek Philippe but they don't handle such a variety of automatics. Usually just a one and done sort of crowd.

    • @imranbecks
      @imranbecks Před 6 lety

      highnrising Maybe. But the lack of applied Omega logo ruins the overall look of the watch. Deal breaker for me. Also prefer the waves to go across the entire dial like how it was on the old waves model. Seems pretty half hearted from Omega.

    • @highnrising
      @highnrising Před 6 lety

      I do not like the Planet Oceans. I think they're overly thick, the hands are cartoonish and the dial is a mess with the Arabic numerals unsymmetrically arranged. I'm somewhat excited about seeing the latest technology in the Diver 300M, which I think is a much more elegant watch than the P.O. I don't need the Omega name "applied." Applied hour markers are functional. They stand out and make the watch easier to read. The brand logo is just advertising. I don't even think the Patek logo on that Nautilus is applied.

    Thank you so much for the vid. I can never understand the craze on Rolex updated models. Not particular to this gmt, Why are there Long waiting lists at AD for updates that merely changes in 1 or 2mm of case diameter, use of steel/gold/duo tone, in this case slightly better, a new movement that has 70hr power reserve (which tudor has been using years ago)? I’m not bashing Rolex, I just want to understand. I had few rolexes but now loving my tudor north flag.

    Guys, it's your first video I don't fully agree with. There was amazing releases this year and somehow two Tudors and Omega make the cut here. Zenith had a great year and so did BVLGARI with a multiple world record breaking watch. Jaquet Droz and Grand Seiko impressed again...and many many many others, yet again, the focus is on Rolex and Tudor...just because (you think the public will want to hear so)..
    Not my favourite video!! I think there was better content from the show to put in your first BW 2018 video.

    Great video but I am not sure I would agree with the comment that "today's Tudor owners are tomorrow's Rolex owners". For some people, they buy the Tudor precisely because its not a Rolex. I would not say that Rolex is any more aspirational than a Tudor and that one graduates to a Rolex. Implies Tudor is less special, which, in my view is simply not the case.
