    Is Magic Johnson’s reputation damaged after quitting the Lakers?

    • @JoshWearing
      @JoshWearing Před 5 lety +9

      In the cosmos of time, this will only be a speed bump in Magic's impact on the Lakers and the NBA. Similar to his talk show, coaching job (only did it as a favor to the late Dr. Buss), Magic as president of basketball operations is just a failed venture. Talk to any one of Magic's billionaire colleagues, taking risks is a part of success. If Magic's brother and colleague Michael Jordan had all those failures, which he acknowledges was his "secret stuff" to propel him, then this won't matter one bit in the basketball universe.

      This whole event will be forgotten when the playoffs start. Once the finals are done it will be about the draft and if anyone good ends up on the Lakers, which I doubt since Magic left, he'll be praised. If the team stays horrible, he'll be seen as an intelligent man. In the end, the damage was done to this team many years ago so no, his reputation is fine.

    It was very strange tbh , and even in his press conference I can identify his intent but it still doesn't make up for everything he has done prior to stepping down . I mean he practically came in shifted everything, messed it up a lil bit and bailed when the pressure got real BC it wasn't " Fun " anymore. Hmmmm

    For the record, as a former aircrew member in the United States Air Force, I can tell you that you are supposed to put your own mask on first because the effects of hypoxia are incredibly quick and devastating (especially at altitudes above 30,000 ft.) If you pass out, you can't help anyone else. So you help yourself first.

    Like it or not, Magic Johnson will forever be remembered as the Los Angeles Lakers President, who allowed an individual by the name of Lavar Ball, to run a "Hype Scam" by hyping his son Lonzo Ball to be drafted, as the second pick in the First round, two years ago. Will he and the Ball Family, be connected at the hip for the rest of their lives? Just curious.

    Wiley's just full of it.His defense of Tragic's tenure was a joke.Magic realized he had no juice and bailed when the going got tough.Talkin' bout whispering,backstabbing and not happy.Join the real world of life,because that's everywhere.Needed to put his big boy pants on or just not taken the job in the first place. As when he was the L.A.coach,he got found wanting and bailed.Stick to the P.R. a la with the Dodgers,doing no real work beyond smiling.

    I know these guys have a show to do and I respect that, obviously, by tuning in. Let's just admit the truth - no one, not Steven A. not these guys, not the Domino's driver in LA knows why Magic chose to resign or the timing of it. We know he loves the Buss's, he loves the Lakers, and he's a very wealthy man. Everything else on the matter is pure speculation.

    Yep, Magic was getting tired of being criticized. Even if Magic wasn't at fault LA fans want and need a scape goat. Moreover, supposedly Magic is a guru of the game. How didn't Magic know he needed some shooters to go around Bron, Bron. Are they still looking for the NBA goat. I think we found the one, Magic the scape goat. 😊
