They are protected when they do something wrong while everyone is upset with me when they dont get stuff done. I would've stepped down too. If you can't make an executive decision as an executive, then you are in a position in name only and just a figurehead to be used by the powers that be. Magic is a business owner and a multi millionaire, so he didn't need the check or the headache, so why would he stay? Plus to allow Rob Pelinka (the world's worst GM) to undermine his boss' position with no repercussions, made magic lose faith in ownership which demanded his immediate departure. Magic did right and not letting Lebron know at that time was the right and professional thing to do. Kudos to Magic!
@@RockySeay: I understand why you would think that, but the president of a company can't give an employee below him information that he hasn't given his boss yet in hopes that the employee won't say anything. Magic, for whatever reason, wanted to pull off a sneak attack that caught the Lakers organization off guard, and that type of action requires that as few people as possible would be in the know. Especially the most popular athlete in the world who could use info like this to his advantage...

Magic understand how important coaching is. All Great Players do. Look at a coaching change did for the Warriors with Mark Jackson & Steve Kerr.

He had to trade zubac cause they was not gonna pay him, Magic wanted to make room for another superstar
Lonzo was the best player at the time of that draft. JT developed to a superstar his 2nd and 3rd season
Lonzo had a promising upside but there were still questions about his shooting and ability to score. The Celtics would’ve taken Tatum with the first pick but got an extra pick and Tatum in that trade with the Sixers

Luke Walton was actually a good coach, Lakers improved from 26 wins to 35 to 37 in his 3 seasons. He was doing well with the young players but of course they let him go because of Lebron’s demands
