  • Ric Bucher sits with Jason Whitlock and Marcellus Wiley to discuss Magic Johnson's recent comments implying the Los Angeles Lakers would not be in this position without him. Hear why he thinks Magic should be letting somebody else sing his praises instead of claiming credit himself.

      Yes ball players respect ball players.. u think Kerr can bring in LeBron or Magic... We both know that answer... But opposed to Jordan we may never know... Bidding war for Jordan or Magic... That's who LeBron respect... Not Polinka or Buss... Plz they brought Magic in to handle black business... Just like them high school days when a black would get n trouble they try to bring in the black administrator to handle the situation well at least they used to in my school... Got LeBron to sign making Magic expendable!!!

    Magic Johnson got rid of Lou Williams, a tremendous player, 6th man of the year, got rid of DeAngelo Russell, Drafted Lonzo Ball an injury-prone lousy shooting point guard (could have drafted Jayson Tatum instead), gave Zubac away to the Clippers (cross-town rivals) & let Thomas Bryant walk away for nothing, just a few of the former manager's mistakes. Then Johnson tried to sabotage the Laker team by quitting, crying to the media saying that Rob Pelinka & others in management criticized him "unfairly", that Pelinka was a "liar" & "hated" around the league, arguing that the Lakers were hopeless & going nowhere, implying that Jeanie Buss should sell the Lakers to him & some financial backers. Jeanie & the organization are being respectful & professional by not commenting on Magic's despicable comments & behavior since he quit the team. I believe that Jeanie realized that Johnson had become more of a problem than an asset to the Lakers & correctly cut ties with the former Laker great. Magic is showing exactly who he is & sadly, it's shameful.

    Can't take credit for LeBron going to the Lakers when Bron wanted to go there in the first place.

      Naw, LeBron wasn't going there to lose with that culture. At the time the Lakers was rivaling the James Dolan Knicks. Nobody wanted to the Lakers. Paul George resigned with OKC because though he wanted to be in LA, he couldn't bring himself to sign with the Lakers as a free agent.

      Comparing them to the Knicks is downright dumb. And since when is Paul George's decision-making a factor in this? He re-signed with the Thunder because he didn't wanna play with LeBron and he actually enjoyed playing with Westbrook.

    When magic stepped down the media killed the Lakers and seen them as a dysfunctional dumpster fire. How did magic help? If any credit is to be given it should be for Rob & Jeannie for keeping their cool and making all the right moves since then.

    I’m probably in the minority but I believe magic deserves credit for leaving the lakers and letting the team move on.. when you leave when the team needs you most does not equate to you getting the credit... deserves no credit for this success and will not get any either from real fans...

  • @alansjf33
    @alansjf33 Před 4 lety

    Magic deserves some credit because he is the one who convince Lebron to come to the Lakers. Everything good that has happened for this franchise in the past two years has resulted from that one accusation.

    Magic is literally soiling his legacy as a Lakers legend. First he jumps ship at the first sign of disapproval & now he wants credit for their success? The same success he chose to leave? He single handedly was the sole reason why Kawhi didn’t come to the Lakers. And he wants CREDIT for WHAT?!? All the players he selected are now playing for the Pelicans or the Clippers. He was WRONG about Lonzo Ball. All the credit goes to ROB PELINKA. And at the least, Jeanie Buss. Not Magic “no balls” Johnson smh 🤦🏽‍♂️

    At the end of day he's 💯% right. The bottom line is this...he was the one that got LeBron to come to L.A. If he didn't land LeBron, they would have never had their franchise player... Anthony Davis. The only mistakes he made was getting rid of Lou Williams and Brook Lopez. BTW, does Whitlock have on a toupee?
