Another common question is "How much money will i make on Etoro?" or also "Can I make a living off Etoro?". The calculation you have to make is a bit tricky though - it doesn't just matter how much profit the trader you're copying makes, it also has to do with how much money you are actually copying that trader with... The maths you have to do is this - the percentage increase the trader you are copying makes multiplied by the amount of money you are copying that trader with.

Hi , Thomas ! Actually 4% profit every month and reinvest automatically what you gain, means that if you are consistently in this percentage till the end of one single year your initial capital will growth more than 60% !! The problem is the fees you can't grab some money every month unless investing huge amounts..
Yep, I know but I wanted to keep it really simple just to show people how it's the interaction between the percentage the trader you're copying makes, and the amount you have invested in the copy which determines your profit :) Adding in compounding percentages would have got tricky and maybe lost that simple idea. A lot of people are used to "this guy made $2000, so if i copy him I'll make $2000!" kind of thinking ... The idea of "wow he made 4%" doesn't make sense to them - they say "Well how much is that in money?", so I had to get past that bit first. It's simple to someone who's dealt with percentage growth in trading before, but really unusual for most people who ask me about the profits side of Etoro. They never ask "What percent can you expect to make regularly?", It's always "how much profit can i make regularly?". :) And yeah I actually made an edit of this video where i mentioned not wanting to take small amounts out every month because of the fees but I left it out in the end. (Also made one where i apologised for the dodgy sound in the second bit, but i left that out too :) )
A year ago I started with 500eur and now remaining balance in my account 270eur although every day there are dozens of copy trade going on still why my account is going to deeep down in loss ????? because Etoro takes your capital plus your daily profits bit by bit everyday ??

Honestly, I'm sort of breaking even this year - I've been trying to copy low risk people, and it's sort of gone a little up, then a little down, then a little sideways, and I'm basically at around break-even for the last 8 months... Not big losses so far, but no great gains either. Hope it works out well for you!

Hey there - I've never had a copyfund investnment so i'm not sure - I know they 'rebalance' every so often, meaning they take a look at all the assets in the fund and remove / draw down on underperforming ones and buy more of the strong performers - maybe it just doesn't rebalance when you pause it?
I have a question if you can give me an answer to. When the CopyTrader adds money regularly (every month) does it get calculated into their profit percentage? So a trader could just add funds when in deep red to avoid closing a month in red(in their profile)?
Plus, when Etoro calculates the closed position's P/L in the copyportfolio, does it take into account the added funds? turning the loss percentage into a profit?

Hi - love these videos as a newcomer to trading.. I am not sure the platform to ask a question? i want to remove a portion of funds I have invested in the Sharp Traders copyportfolio, but that option is not available on the dropdown menu under this portfolio. What am I missing?
So If i copy a person (not copying current open positions) on 20th march 2017 and that person opens a new position on 22nd March 2017 at 14:00 and I am not logged in to my etoro at that time, will it copy without me being online? And how does closing a position works, do I have to do it manually? Or will it close itself if the person I'm copying closes his open position?
Yeah, when you copy a person, all of the trades that person does from that minute onwards you will also do (with whatever amount of money you copied them with). Nope, you don't have to be logged in - a guy the other day mentioned that he just copied a few people and then only checks etoro once a month to see how his copies are doing. It's designed so that you don't have to worry about the details of the trade - so when they open a position, you open one, when they close it , you close it. Simple :)

Hi there, and thanks! On this page etoro.tw/2vGecmp is says that you can see which regulatory body covers your account in your account settings section. I looked at mine and it said Etoro Europe, but I guess your question is maybe a different one - does Etoro's protection extend to Europeans by nationality or to anyone whose (including non-EU nationals) accounts show Etoro Europe in that section of their settings. Also, is it Europe geographically or Europe as in the E.U ... there are countries which are obviously European which aren't in the E.U... You'll have to ask them this directly as I just don't know and i doubt you want to risk a wrong answer when the big questions like "Is 20,000 of my money insured in case Etoro suddenly goes broke" or "Are you going to suddenly shut down my account and say I'm in breach of the terms and conditions?" are in play. I'd ask if I were you. Better to know and be safe. Hope you manage to get a positive answer!

Very nice video Thomas. I was wondering how have you been doing on etoro. You do quite a bit analysis on every copy trader. Uptil now overall have you just lost money or gained.
Last year lost, the year before gained, this year down 0.80% right now... Overall, I'm not sure - I'd have to add it up as, for instance I lost 40.48% in the first year (2016) but I had so little money in my account then that even a 20% profit the next year could have actually been more than that... I'll have a look-see :) And thanks re videos!

Instead of thinking about the profit % at the end of the month going into the invested money in the copy, would it be possible to do that on a daily basis?
So I invest 200$ and at the end of the first day I profit 1%. That's 2$, would it be possible that the next day I have 202$ invested in the copy and I make 1% off of it? And do this everyday ?

Hey, I have a question. I have been using metatrader 4 for a while but decided to try etoro. On MT4 I could go as low as lot size 0.01 (1000 units?) and then I could lose or gain a few dollars (not more than $5 most of the time). On etoro the minimum was 4000 units (lot size 0.04). Why is this? Can I go lower the 4000 units? I'm talking about currency pairs :)
Their minimum trade sizes are business decisions as far I understand it - you'd have to ask eToro directly. I think a lot of people wish the minimum trade sizes were smaller for new people...

It is profitable if you choose good investors to copy, but just remember that the % of profit you make is always lower than theirs. With low amounts its even half. And when they lose, you lose almost double that. I think it has to do with the spreads/costs per trade. If you were to invest quite a lot, your portfolio per trader might match theirs more.

For how long do you leave your money on that trade do you only depend of went the person That you are copying dicided to get his money back? Or that is something that you decided by monitoring the trade activity?
You mean whilst copytrading? When copy trading, the person you're copying decides everything - when to open the trade, how much to buy or sell, what leverage to use, when to close the trade. Everything... you can close any copied trade manually from within your portfolio, but I've found that if I start micro-managing the trades of someone I'm copying, it defeats the purpose of copy trading, which is to trust the other person to be able to make better trading decisions than me. If I can't trust them, and feel i have to constantly manage the open trades, then I think I'd rather just stop copying them and find someone else who I do trust...

Hi Anna, and thanks:), yeah, it's possible to earn money from $200 but I would imagine it's going to take a while before you're making "the big bucks" - it really depends on your goal. If the idea is to learn how to trade yourself, and slowly practice, then any amount of money is going to help with that as you can place live trades and get familiar with how it feels when you've got actual money on the line - you soon start trying to learn when it's your own money you're risking! :) But it's also extremely easy to lose money when you first start trading, so be aware that if that $200 is the only $200 you have to spare, then learning how to trade with it is a very risky way to try to make money.
If, however, your goal is to copy either 1 trader with $200 or 2 traders with $100 ($100 is the minimum amount you can copy a trader with) your money will most likely be safer, but it's going to take a long while before you start to see profits you're actually excited about. If you see what I'm saying in the video - even if a trader you're copying makes 10% in a month (which is still huuuuuge compared to the 3% or whatever it is PER YEAR that banks give you!) that's only going to be $20 profit in a month. And the trader may only make 2% or 6% or even lose 4%... So it may be a very long time before you start to feel "wow, this is great!" :)

That sounds wise :) To be honest, I really liked (and still like) Etoro because of the copytrading element - i just think that's such a fantastic idea, and it's what really got me into the site - the idea that i can get experienced investors to trade for me for free :) yay! But trading is incredibly interesting, so there's no way i could resist having a go myself. At the moment I'm closing a lot of my manual trades though, and I'm moving most of my money back into copying other traders, and I'm only going to use about 20% of my total money in trades I am actually doing manually. That way I'll keep learning but bring down my risk quite a bit.

Hi Antonio - the only times i've seen complaints about withdrawals are when people haven't verfied their account yet, so I don't think it's the safest way to go really. I know they're taking a huge amount of time to verify new accounts though so that must be extremely frustrating... I'm really not sure what to suggest, I can understand the temptation to just credit without being verified but i don't think that's the safest way... Hope it works out for you soon!

When u copy trade do you just buy their portfolio at any price or as they buy stuff is it added?
You can choose to copy all of their previously opened trades (but you will open them at the current market price) or you can choose to only copy the new trades they open after you click copy - there are reasons for both. I made a video series going over some of the things I look out for when deciding whether to copy a trader. I mention this 'copy open trades' issue...

There is one thing that I can't find the answer to. If I copy a trader, they open a trade and it automatically opens for me too. But, does the trade close automatically for me if the traded closes that same trade? Or do I have to close the trade my self? thanks

Hi, nice videos. Does EToro have copytraders for day trading. As in, is there traders who I can copy who are “day” traders?
I'm sure there must be, but i don't think you can search by specific trading time horizons. I'm looking for what they trade, and how profitable they are - i guess i do look at their trade frequency at the bottom of their stats page which gives some indication of timelines, and you can always check in their history and manually work out how long they have various trades open for. I think the spread fees make short term trading a bit difficult. Having said that, i'm sure there are successful day traders on there.

Do you work in eToro? Do you think is secure to upload my files in eToro if I'm from Mexico? Because I checked their privacy policy page and they have only US and Europe legal protection and it's not that clear how's for the rest of the world.
Hi Miguel, nope I don't work for them - honestly I don't know what sort of protection you'd have from Mexico. I know they don't allow Etoro in the United States as The U.S banned trading in CFDs after the last financial crisis. I'd definitely send Etoro an email and ask - they're such a big site it would be very stupid for them to do anything like try to steal from you, but I don't know if your money would be insured in the case of Etoro going bankrupt or some catastrophe. I'd definitely check first... Ah, when you said U.S maybe you meant U.K? Having said that, they're an international, global site, so hopefully that means they're working with regulatory agencies in other parts of the world too... Check, as I'm sure there must be a lot of other people who have the same question as you.

It's up to each person when they want to remove funds really. But yeah, normally all profits are automatically reinvested in the copy.

I think you can only withdraw to the same place you credited the money from (I might be wrong, but I think that's how they do it...) I can't remember how long it took exactly - a few days I think - I believe their help section says no more than 5 working days, but check it - it may have changed. Hi Tomas, Jaynemesis in his Profile pic has 327.46 % for the last 12 months. Is it referring to the percentage of return of inevest for the las whole year. 327 % is huge. Its trippling the capital. If I invest 1,000 Dollar after a year, will triple if Jaynemesis would gain again 327 plus %?
Yeah, those are his stats for the last 12 months - compound interest is an amazing thing... I can't predict what he will do in the next 12 months though - even he is saying he expects it to be lower over the next year as this year was all about the cryptos going up and up and he's heavily into trading them.
Always remember that there IS the potential to lose... We obviously copy these guys and girls as they're smart and hopefully will know how to handle even the worst market conditions, but it's never sure ....

i don't understand the compound profit from etoro.... if i invest 100 $ and i get 11 $ profit, should I stop copying the trader and re-invest 111 $.... or should I just let it sit still and the 11$ profit will automatically be re-invested??
It will automatically be reinvested in the same copy :) It's a smart system... Just let it sit there and it automatically takes care of it. You'll see over time that your average trade size with that person has increased (provided you make profit...)

Yeah, theoretically it should be fine - there are fees of $5 per month though if you don't log into your account for 12 months. (it's a shorter time if you're an affiliate or have somehow got money in your account without depositing it). Technically though, yeah, at least I don't see why it wouldn't be possible. There are differences between trading cryptos on Etoro and buying them to hold them on other exchanges. You can't yet transfer cryptos you bought through Etoro off Etoro - like into a wallet or to another exchange. They keep it within a "3rd party wallet" and you can't move it around. Also, when you buy cryptos on other crypto exchanges you can sell off a portion of your assets. On Etoro, you open "Trades" - so if you buy 1 trade of $1000 of RIplle, then you can't sell off a part of that trade, you either have to leave the entire amount open and still changing value, or close the whole trade. It makes it slightly different. I'm only copytrading on Etoro at the moment, and that's working well, but I'm looking at other exchanges right now for use of the extra functionality I was describing.

I am so confused with trading, I started looking at it when I found out how Bitcoin is getting higher in price very fast. i got the idea of choosing a cheap crypto currency and buy some and wait for some time (a kind of investment) didn't like the short term trading as I lost a lot of money 10 years ago and didn't dare to do it again. I see now lots of softwares like for example Robot365 or Crypto advantage and I see some people say it is fine and some say it is scam, which made me very confused, I saw that eToro is a nice option and safe, I haven't tried it yet, but most of the reviews are positive and the copy a trader feature is a very cleaver one. Thanks again for the answer, i really appreciate your time.
