    eToro is a multi-asset investment platform. The value of your investments may go up or down. Your capital is at risk.
    Copy Trading does not amount to investment advice. The value of your investments may go up or down. Your capital is at risk.
    eToro Affiliate Links may lead to compensation if followed
    All trading involves risk. Only risk capital you’re prepared to lose. Past performance is not an indication of future results. This content is for educational purposes only and is not investment advice.
    Cryptocurrencies can fluctuate widely in prices and are therefore not appropriate for all investors. Trading cryptocurrencies is not supervised by any EU regulatory framework.
    This video talks about how you can take your profits when you copytrade on Etoro, and what happens to your copytrading profits if you just leave them in the site... Do you have to withdraw your profits and re-add them to the copy? Or does it take care of that automatically? Also, if you want to take your profits out of a copy-trade, does that mean you have to stop copying that trader or can you just take some of the money out and leave the rest to still copy that person?
    Etoro have done a pretty fantastic job of designing their system to optimise the performance of your money. Whatever profits you make from copying a trader are automatically reinvested back into that copy so the amount of funds you're copying that trader with can just keep on growing, making bigger and bigger trade sizes (provided the trader you're copying is making profits rather than losses...)
    If you really want to withdraw money from a copy position, then you can either close the copy outright in which case your money (after profits or losses are applied) will go back into your available balance, and you can then withdraw it from Etoro,
    OR you can choose just to remove a portion of those funds from the copy, but still keep some of your money with that trader, still copying them.
    This video explains these options in a little more depth...

      @@SocialTrading very helpful thank you. What do you mean that the Profit is automatically added to the amount? I've noticed that when the market closes the "Profit" is not added to the initial amount. For example if i copy a trader with $100 and at the end of the day i have a profit of $10, then the next day that $10 is not added to the initial amount of $100. Shouldn't it be added or is it something i have to do?

    I just watched your video and while it is very helpful I would like help on my thinking. I invested 10k and I want to remove the profits every month ( I am optimistic and I expect to have gains every month about 10%). Remove funds will not be an option because my trader uses all of my money. What is the best way to do that?
    1. Stop copy, withdraw the funds that are profits, then recopy
    2. Pause copy, wait until the profit amount is accumulated back to my balance, then un-pause
    3. Close trades manually ( but I really don't want to do that because it would diverse from copied investors strategy)
    Is there any other way to do it?
    I would greatly appreciate your input on that.

    • @SocialTrading
      @SocialTrading  Před 6 lety +4

      Thanks man, yeah I do think their fees are high - it's one of the most common complaints.. Well actually their spread fees, rather than the others (although people do complain about the $25 withdrawal fee too, but you can lessen the impact of that by not withdrawing small amounts often ... still it's a hassle though). I don't know what to say about the spread fees - they are just high.
      It was copytrading that brought me to Etoro (i was looking for bot (algorithmic) trading but couldn't find it) and I looked at some other copytrading sites and they just didn't look anywhere near as good as Etoro, so I stuck here, and just started learning about trading from various other sites and videos, but for my actual trading I've stuck to this so far - if you find some others which you think are better, let me know - I haven't so far.
      I have signed up for quite a few crypto exchanges recently to see what they're about and because Etoro offers quite a limited choice of cryptos, but they're a very different thing and still don't offer copytrading which I like a lot. I think the next big change will be decentralised exchanges, but they don't exist just yet either... I think someone said plus500 offers leveraged crypto trading but that sounds like a recipe for disaster for me (I tend to lose money when i use too much leverage) so I haven't gone and checked, and it might be rubbish anyway...
      There are loads of straight manual trading platforms to choose from, but, again - it's copytrading which most interests me so I've not got into them.

    Thanks again for your great info!

    • @SocialTrading
      @SocialTrading  Před 6 lety

      Hi there Dave, firstly thanks :)
      I definitely wouldn't pause the copy if you're adding funds (unless I've missed something quite important there!) Pausing the copy would mean you aren't copying the new trades they're making, so it would mean it's going to take even longer to get the new funds you've added to be used up in active trades. Maybe you're thinking it will sort of build up a pool of cash and then Boooom you unleash it all by resuming the copy and the trade sizes are bigger... But Etoro recalculates the amount you're copying a trader with all the time (well very frequently at least) so the new funds you've added will mean larger trade sizes straight away.
      I've heard the question before though about whether, if you're adding a lot of new funds, it makes sense to stop the copy , add the funds, and re-open the copy with "copy open trades" so that all of your money is sued up instantly in active trades. It's a maths problem really ... A. It depends who it is you're copying - I mean if you look at Jay, he's opening 37 new trade per week (or thereabouts - i'm sure it fluctuates from week to week), but if that's true, the he'll be using up those new funds pretty quickly I'd imagine. But if you're copying a trader who hold assets for 3 months at a time and only makes 1.5 new trades per week, then it'll take quite a while to use up your new funds in new active trades. Check it at the bottom of their stats page and see...
      If you close and re-open, you'll be paying all the spread fees again which isn't great - but it's a maths thing - is the loss in repaying spread fees outweighed by the value of having all your money used instantly vs waiting (by just adding the new funds to an existing copy and waiting for it to be used up) Essentially it's almost the same question as "Do I copy open trades" in some ways which is all a maths problem. I made a video about that one, but in the end you've got to work out the maths and the variables for that specific trader (how often do they trade etc) In the end end end, I think it's best to look at overall track record for the trader - we copy them because of long term profit trends - how much did they make in a year, rather than short term stuff. With that in mind, it sort of softens the panic of the decision about this stuff. Either way, we're looking for slow steady gains, so it's not about micro-analysing the maths of the situation (although if you're capable of it, that's awesome), or worrying too much (unless they trade once a week which would be frustrating to have to wait for). Hope that helps a little - sorry I can't give more definitive experience there.

      Wow, thanks for your extremely detailed response!
      I wasn't planning on making any particular gain over the situation, just wondered if it was usual practice or not as I couldn't find an answer in the FAQ's etc.
      I'm not capable of the math so I'll just add the new funds and leave eToro to it!
      I add new funds every 2-4 weeks, just gonna keep doing that and leave it to it :)
      Thanks again, you do a great job!

      Hi Ben - yeah, I made a video about that (ish) but it was one of the first I made so it's a bit slow, and the sound's no good but I've forwarded it to the bit where I start to talk about how they get paid : czcams.com/video/XSEB3yNHP_Q/video.html . Basically, the people we copy are all paid by Etoro rather than by us. You can find details of their perks here, on Etoro's 'popular Investors' page (that's what the people we copy are called) : etoro.tw/2AuEwG3 . The more copiers they have the more they can get things like their spread fees returned (or percentages of them), and they can get a percentage of all the assets under their management (referred to as AUM) and they can actually get monthly payments for education or promotion and stuff, so it's a pretty good system for them.

Well I copied another trader an he had it set up that it reached certain amount an it automatically became my liquidity so I'm so confused

      I only use eToro for copy trading right now... when you're opening and closing trades manually, you can either close the whole trade and then your original investment plus any profits or minus any losses will be returned to your available balance, or you can partially close the trade - so close a portion of it, and leave the rest open. The part you close will go back to your available balance and you can do whatever you want with it.

    I would like to understand more about losses when copy trading. I understand that you can actually loose more than you have in your balance when you copy someone? So if I have invested 100 dollars at the start I can loose much more? How is that posssible and how can i avoid that? it seems like a big worry for me if I copy someone?

    • @SocialTrading
      @SocialTrading  Před 6 lety

      Hi there - It shouldn't be at all likely, unless there's a truly MAASSSSIVVE stock market crash overnight or something. When you copy a new trader, there's an automatic "copy stop loss" which you set, which is basically an amount you specify which says to the system (ETORO) "If this person ever loses me X amount of money, then i want you to automatically close this copy position, and stop me copying him, and return the money i have left to my available account balance" It's a safety switch. The only way you could possibly lose more than you actually used to copy the person is if every asset you're trading via the copy drops catastrophically in price overnight when the markets are closed, and when the markets open, the price is far far below the stop losses that trader set, and therefore all his safety switches don't trigger and he or she losses more than they expected (the trader you're copying will be setting these safety switches called "stop losses" on every trade they make, and therefor you'll also be automatically copying those safety "stop losses" in your trades - except on cryptos as Etoro disabled them on cryptos for now) This is extrememly unlikely though - If it were to happen, it would mean something really bad has happened globally (I think) Not sure if that made much sense... It is theoretically possible, but highly unlikely.

When I look at the Annual Performance figures for traders ; the final annual % is always higher than the sum of each of the 12 months for example ... JeppeKIRKBonde results for 2017 show the final Annual return as 148.05% however if you just add up the months individually it calculates at a lower return of 100.21%. This discrepancy (difference) is on every traders performance figures that I have looked at. Can this be explained. Many Thanks.

    • @SocialTrading
      @SocialTrading  Před 6 lety +1

      Hi George - might it be the fact that the interest is compounding? So if you have 100, and you make 5%, then you have 105. if the next month you make 5%, then you have 5% of 105, which is larger, and on and on through the year... I think that's what's happening there.

      I think it's more of, equity.
      The 148% Is the overall ROI. Which is the true ROI.
      Inside the traders portfolio, the profits are shown by months, but it actually is the equity from start of the month to end of the month, due to withdrawal between the month, the equity may vary at the end of the month. And will not be relative to the profit gained during that month.

    Just a question regarding the availability of the exchanges. I understand that share prices fluctuate from time to time, so what would be the prize that will take in when you close/open a trade if the relevant exchange is not available? Will it be the prize at the time your transaction takes place or the prize when they actually process your transaction?
    Thanks.

    • @SocialTrading
      @SocialTrading  Před 5 lety

      The price when they process it as far as I know. When you try to open a trade when the markets are closed, your trade actually become an 'at market order' as far as I'm aware. This means that it's an order to execute your trade at the first market price available. If there's been some big news around the asset pre-market, this can be a big difference either up or down sometimes.
