      Hi there Harish - very often a trader won't use 100% of their money on open active trades. If they haven't used 100% and you're copying them, then 100% of the money you've copied them with won't be being used. There are several reasons traders often don't use 100% of their capital on active trades. Firstly, it reduces their risk, and makes their trading safer. Secondly, maybe they're holding some money back waiting for the right price on a particular asset to open a new trade, or just holding some money back in case a good opportunity pops up...

      Social Trading Vlog Hi Thomas, Thanks for you previous reply. I have couple of questions please.
      1) I am copying a trader and I see $$ profit. I want to close those trades and take the profit because it is high. When I close the trades, will the money I had copied to this trader will be returned back to my account including the profit OR will the amount remain in the trader's account. If it remains in the Trader's account, will I be able to withdraw all the money.
      2) I would like to buy it again from same trader at later time, can I buy from the same trader anytime.

    Hi, I going to add fund to the trader I copy. Will it affect my current open trade? And what is the percentage invested when my trader open new trade. How to calculate it?

    • @SocialTrading
      @SocialTrading  Před 5 lety

      When you add funds to the trader you're copying, there's the option to either add the funds to the open positions or not. But if you choose to add funds to the open positions, I think it actually opens new positions in those same assets for you - they obviously won't be able to buy them at the same price as the initial ones, so I'm not sure how that will work with the stats. I've never taken that option. I just add the funds without clicking the 'add to open trades' button... Not sure which is best though - depends on the situation I think. I'd have to see at the time.
      To see how much your trader invests in any asset, you can go to their portfolio and it'll show you how much of their total account size they have invested in any given asset which they're currently trading. The system will always copy the same asset for you, and it will see that the trader you're copying has (for example) used 5% of their total account size on that trade, so it will use 5% of the money you've copied that trader with when it open your trade in the same asset. Hope that makes sense...

  • @OrangeSound
    @OrangeSound Před 6 lety +1

    Thank you for the great detailed explanation, it's very helpful. I have just a few questions left about removing funds from a copy-trade.
    Say I copy a trader with $1000 and he has invested only 70% of that, so the rest $300 are staying there idle. What will happen if I remove the $300 from this trader to invest them elsewhere? Will this affect the size of my opened positions with him or will they stay at $700?
    Also what determines the max amount I can remove from a trader at a given time? Thank you :)

    • @SocialTrading
      @SocialTrading  Před 6 lety +1

      Hi there, thanks :) - yeah it'll make your average trade sizes smaller - I know it seems stupid for them to just let 30% sit there, but maybe they have a plan for it - maybe they're waiting for a specific asset to reach a specific price or something before they invest... I doubt they're just keeping 30% as a prudent reserve - have you tried asking them? There might be a good reason. It's a lot to keep back though. The max amount you can remove from a trader is, I think, the maximum amount which they haven't currently got ties up in open trades. Watch the videos I made about taking profits from copytrading - especially the second one actually, and the "pause Copy" option - they might help a bit :

    Hi, is this the way (remove funds) you can cash out any profits from copying a trader or do you have to use another method to do this?

    • @SocialTrading
      @SocialTrading  Před 7 lety

      Hi there - Yeah, this is how you can take profits (remove funds) from a trader you're copying (unless you just want to end the entire copy). If you just do nothing, then all profits stay within that copy and are used in future trades, so your trade sizes actually get bigger allowing you to have potentially more profits. (or bigger losses if it goes badly, but that's why we check out the traders' stats first and choose as wisely as we can). I think of each "copy" as a fund, and any profits that fund makes get ploughed back into the fund to be used to generate more profit. Since I don't have a lot of money in there, I'm leaving the profits with each copy so my account size grows. Eventually, when there's enough in there, I'll use the remove funds method to take some out.

      Hi Lina - nope. It has to be cash. Dollars to be precise... Etoro is still basically an legacy-style trading setup on which you can trade some cryptos. I think they're working to change that as fast as they can, at least around how cryptos are treated. There's talk of their crypto wallet launching towards the end of this year. Hope you find what you're looking for!

    hey man, how long does it take for the "stop copy" order to be executed. I keep seeing pending stop

    • @SocialTrading
      @SocialTrading  Před 6 lety

      It might be because one of the assets in the portfolio of the person you're copying is traded on an exchange which is closed right now. So you'll have to wait until that exchange opens again, so it can close the position in your portfolio - when that happens, the copy should end and the money (adjusted for profits or losses) should be returned to your available balance.
      Hope that's it - it often happens and scares us all for a moment :)

  • @nishalnandwani
    @nishalnandwani Před 6 lety

    I think you can only remove funds that are not currently being invested in the copy. Like when you go to the bottom, sometimes the total investment is less than your copy amount. So if the total investment is equal to the copy amount, you won't be able to remove any funds.
    Also, there was one time where as I added funds to the copy, the average trade size was not increasing. In fact, it said 0 and was just staying at 0. I don't understand why. Maybe you can make a video on that if you do know about it.

    • @SocialTrading

    how does leverage work? i dont get it. For what can it be used?

    • @SocialTrading
      @SocialTrading  Před 6 lety +2

      Leverage is basically like amplifying your trade. Essentially, what you're doing is borrowing money from Etoro just for the life of the specific trade. So if you only have $50, but you want to buy $500 worth of Apple stock, then you can buy $50 of Apple stocks with X10 leverage, and it's the same as if you're trading with $500 worth. Obviously all trading is based on percentages - and all stocks are sold in units. So let's say Apple is $1 per unit (it's not really) then with $50 you have bought 50 units - if you use X10 leverage it's like you bought 500 units. The more units you have, the more their increase in value will mean profit for you. If Apple goes up 10% you will have made 10% on all 500 units as opposed to all 50 units.
      It also amplifies losses though, so Apple stock loses 10%, then the losses are amplified too as you're losing 10% of 500 units instead of 10% of 50 units.
      So, by using leverage, you'll see that small changes in the price of the stocks suddenly result in large profits or losses - the profit and loss will move much quicker than if you use no leverage. try it in the virtual portfolio and you'll see what I mean. What new traders underestimate (well at least I did) is the psychological and emotional impact sudden increasing losses can have on you - you panic and can see when you should hold, or hold (not sell) when you should sell.
      The market moves in patterns and does make some small sense, but until you get used to it, it just looks like wild gambling and chaos. So using a lot of leverage before you're used to how the market moves can lead to panic, which usually leads to bad decisions, which usually leads to losses.

    • @SocialTrading
      @SocialTrading  Před 6 lety

      Also, important to note - go and look at their fees page. When you use leverage you incur "Overnight" and "weekend" fees, which you don't incur (most of the time) when you don't use leverage. Check their fees page in the help section for more info...

    • @SocialTrading
      @SocialTrading  Před 6 lety

      Hi there - the answer to this one is basically the same as the answer to "what happens if I copy someone and don't click the 'copy open trades' button? - you can see it explained a bit here : czcams.com/video/hO1zncbWqFM/video.html
      Basically, adding funds means that if you go to your portfolio, and click on the trader you're copying, you'll see all the open positions you have with him or her. At the top right of the screen you'll see the total you have invested in him at the moment. Scroll down to the bottom of the page and on the left you'll see a "total Open" heading - the number next to that is the amount of the overall money you've copied them with which is currently being used in active trades.
      So, when you added the funds, they went into the copy position - that's why they were added to your 'total allocated' amount... They have been added to the copy position, but it will take a while before your trader opens enough new trades that the new money is used up in active trades. Go to their stats page, scroll to the bottom, and on the left you'll see a statistic on how many new 'Trades per week' they make. This will give you an indication how many times each week a bit of that new money you added is likely to be used up in active trades. It could take some time - it depends on how frequently the trader makes new trades...
      Hope that helps a bit.

      hi there - it's in the first answer :)

    • @SocialTrading
      @SocialTrading  Před 6 lety

      it's up to you really - you can either close and re-open choosing copy open trades, or you could just wait for them to use up your funds in active trades. Another way (which I've actually done myself recently) is to sort of split it... So, you could close the copy, and then re-open the copy with (for instance) 60% of your funds and choose 'copy open trades' - so, this money will be instantly used up in open trades. Then, when the copy is open, you could select "add funds" (to the copy which is already running) and add the other 40% that you wanted to put on the trader to copy... that way you have some being used up instantly (so you cover all of his open positions) and then you have some (the 40%) which is only to be used in new trades... obviously, you could do 50-50, or 70-30, or 90-10 or whatever. I thought it wasn't a bad solution...
