    How to copy a trader on Etoro using your virtual portfolio. It's really a very simple process, but I made the video to walk through the different steps involved in finding, choosing, and copying a new trader, and where you can find that trader in your account once you've copied them. It also discusses a bit about how profits are handled when you copy someone, how to add and remove funds from a copied trader and some other things.

    Thank you so much for the video. I’m looking at starting with $100. Please how do I manage that? I’ll like to start by copying trades and I don’t mind making or loosing 10%

    Lets assume I want to start trading in the real account. I have 500$ as an equity and I decided to invest it all in just one trade. I made a loss which reached -1000$. My question would be, do I need to be patient and wait for it till it becomes a profit or I have to inject more money since I lost.
    Thanks a lot for this valuable video

    I was hoping I could use all Etoro features without committing with real money. It seems that to use the copy trade capabilities you have to make a real deposit. What do you think about this? Thank you, great videos. Very helpful.

    What happens when the trading system stops you from copying a trader as part of a stop-loss exercise? Does eToro sell off your portion of the portfolio that mirrors that particular trader (and keeps it as cash) OR does it stay invested in those securities without further copying?

    • @SocialTrading
      @SocialTrading  Před 6 lety

      Hi there - it closes all of the positions which were opened as copied trades with that trader and returns all money (after either profit or loss is applied) to your available balance. Sometimes you may choose to stop copying a trader, and you click to close the copy but for some reason it seems to be stuck and doesn't fully close the copy. This is because some of the trades might be on items which belong to markets which aren't open at the time you closed the copy, so the system has to wait until that national market reopens so it can close the trade.

    Hi. Very impressed with the content and quality of your videos and have learnt a great deal from them. I generally trade on my own and was dubious about copying people until understanding how this works. This now seems a much better way to lower my own risks and the bonus of not spending every day monitoring the markets.
    One question I have though, and haven't come across this yet on your channel (apologies if this is has already been answered).
    If I choose to copy open trades - I buy a trade that currently gives the person I am following a 125% profit. I understand that I will be buying that trade at 125% more than what it was bought for originally. If they decided to close that trade due to the great return almost at the same time I decided to copy this person, then I could immediately be in negative equity after purchase? Of course, this will depend on the selling price at the time, so could be hit quite hard? The probability of this happening in the real-world may be low, but just wanted to understand the pros & cons when buying trades that are already giving a good return. Thanks for your help and have a great new year!

      @SocialTrading  Před 6 lety

      Hi there Tony, thanks :) And yeah - if you copy open trades, and some of those trades are in profit already (they're green in the person you're copying's portfolio) then it means that since the time that person bought the asset, it's gone up by whatever percentage of profit it's showing in his portfolio. So, you'll be buying it at a higher price than him - the current market price. If you copy open trade, and he instantly closes that trade, then all you'll lose is the spread fee you've paid on it, as you bought it at the current market price, and he sold it at the current market price. He will have made whatever profit is shown next to the asset in his portfolio and you won't - you'll have made the loss of whatever the spread fee is. If it goes down in value for a day before he closes the trade, then he'll have lost a bit of his profits and you'll have lost however much it's dropped as a percentage. I was going to make a video about this last week but didn't. I think I will.

      Thanks for the reply and hope you had a nice Xmas and New Year. This makes perfect sense, so until the trader being copied effectively closes all of the trades that were open when starting the copy, his profit margin will be different for each case. Just started copying 6 traders for at least 12 months and hoping all goes well this year. Looking forward to more videos :)

    If i may ask what is the different between Real and Virtual in Etoro Account thank you.

    • @SocialTrading
      @SocialTrading  Před 4 lety

      The real one is with real money, and the virtual mimicks the entire real account, but the money you're using is fake. The markets are the live markets though, and all the functionality is the same. Just the money is fake - it's a place to practice. Mind you, it has a lot of bugs in it unfortunately, so sometimes things don't work properly. I wish they'd fix it...

    If I copy someone in 'Real' mode does that person 'earn' off my investment in there portfolio. If so how much and do I 'lose' some of my potential earnings as a 'commision' of sorts to that person?

    • @SocialTrading
      @SocialTrading  Před 6 lety

      Nope - they earn incentives from Etoro - the more people who copy them, the better their incentives from Etoro - the popular investors don't earn directly from the people who copy them. (As far as i know!)

    Thomas I have an important question, If i add funds to my account and i don't start trading straight away will the funds be affected? will there be a fee?

    • @SocialTrading
      @SocialTrading  Před 5 lety

      I think there's an inactivity fee if you don't log in to the account for a certain amount of time, but that's the only one I'm aware of around that issue. Not sure how long you have to not log in before it's applied. Everything keeps changing, so best to look that one up directly on the site to be sure...

      I think so yes, but unfortunately, the virtual portfolio seems to be full of bugs and problems which aren't there in the real version. It's a shame, as it kind of ruins it as a learning tool...

    I am currently a beginner in trading, just started learning it this month. I am reaching out to ask someone for help. It seems that I can't copy trade (virtually)in any portfolio, even though I attempt to open one. I'd try approaching etoro's customer service, however it said it's currently unavailable so my concern wasn't sent. Hoping that someone would help me out with this one. Thank you! 😀

  • @juanboxplon
    @juanboxplon Před 4 lety

    Hi Thomas, I already watched a ton of your videos and I have a virtual account from around 2 month now. One thing I notices is that with a virtual account, once you start copy someone new trades are not open after that. For example, let's say that you started copy BalanceAM last monday with all the open trades. Today BalanceAM opens a new trade. That trade is not going to be copie in your portfolio.
    Its seems that this isnt new at all and only happen with virtual accounts. I find this post from last year on reddit, that describe this exact situation www.reddit.com/r/Etoro/comments/7pawvd/new_trades_not_being_copied_virtual_account/
    Do you know something about this? could this happen with a real money investment?

    • @SocialTrading
      @SocialTrading  Před 4 lety +1

      Yep, there are tons of reports of bugs with the virtual account now - trades not opening/ not closing etc etc. It's useful to get to learn how the system works and to get familiar with dashboards etc, but I would no longer say it's really useful for accurate trade statistics due to all the problems people have told me about... I don't hear the same reports of bugs with real accounts though (at least nobody is telling me about them) - only with the virtual accounts.
