  • I tell my experience of being on a cruise ship with one cruise passenger who committed a violating act towards me while onboard our cruise ship during our Cruise! What do cruise ships do with problematic cruise passengers at sea? How do Cruise Ship Crew handle these dangerous cruise passengers? Are cruise ship passengers bad people? We talk through our experience being on a cruise ship with one cruise ship passenger who took actions that were extremely violating and how we handled it. Did we get cruise crew to handle it onboard our Cruise Ship 2023? What would you do?

You should have reported it because they might have been checking to see if a woman was alone in the room, you never know people's intentions. You might save someone from getting attacked, plus if it was all innocent the security will be able to put your mind at rest. Just my humble opinion.

Please do not invalidate your experience. Victims don't report situations like this because they talk themselves out of it. Like, it's not "really" a big deal. You were doing nothing wrong and someone violated you and your space. As a professional who helps victims in a variety of capacities, what happened to you was not okay. It is completely understandable as to why you would downplay this, but please listen to your gut. That icky feeling will linger with you if you don't address it. Take care of yourself. Sending you much love.

Sooo sorry this happened, and I’m glad you had the courage to share your experience. Icky is the perfect word to describe it. Having been violated myself, in my experience it stays with you for awhile. Perhaps sharing what happened with the hotel manager at the end of your cruise might give you some closure and you might be helping someone that didn’t have your courage. There are boundaries that people must not cross, even on a cruise ship. Privacy is a buggy. Be well, Sandra

My opinion is, they really couldn’t see you. When your out in the bright sun light - its hard to see into an inside space. I noticed this by being out side and looking into the store, I own. Often I see friends walking by while I’m in the store and I think - why don’t they wave and I realize - they really can’t see in. Because of them being out in the light and I’m inside. Just my take. You might ask your neighbor on the other side - if you could test this out.

I would ask security to pull the videos to determine if this improper act was recorded. I would also ask security to check if your neighbor did it while your cabin was unoccupied and if your neighbor was doing the same to the other cabin on the other side. I am sure the cruise line has protocols in place to address this type of issue. Stay safe!

    • @tonestar00
      @tonestar00 Před 9 měsíci +1

To clarify, I am not aware of any cruise line that puts recording devices in state rooms. But I am aware and do know, cruise lines place monitoring equipment on the outside/public areas of the ship for safety and security reasons. This has become quite apparent as more and more cruise passengers have gone missing, jump overboard, throw stuff overboard, etc. A couple was arrested in late September 2023 for stealing $13k worth of artwork from a Carnival cruise they had been on. Security cameras captured the theft and a search warrant of the couple's home revealed the stolen items. In July 2023, security cameras captured a young man jumping overboard from his balcony on another Carnival cruise and unfortunately his body was not recovered. I don't think anyone would travel on a cruise ship that had recording devices in a stateroom as you suggest. There are good and valid reasons why balcony cabins have security partitions as well as security cameras affixed to the outside/public areas of ships.

I do think you should report it because it's not ok that this person has done this. Even if he has an issue, he needs to be held accountable to his actions. Also by you reporting it, hopefully he will be on their radar so that this isn't repeated and he doesn't hurt you or anyone else.

Try not to take it personally. As a handicappable cruiser, it has happened to me several times either around the balcony divider or simply if the hall door is open. It is just a curiosity thing 1)....what/how much bigger/how is an accessible stateroom different then my "regular" stateroom, 2) what/ why do they need that room...which could be heightened as bot JJ 's are fully ambulatory. Yes I know and you all made it abundantly clear that you did Not request this cabin type but it was assigned to you. But John Q public has a bit of extra curiosity about the how's and why's. Most times I find that people are truely trying to be helpful...with holding doors or calling elevators and especially picking up things I drop. But on occasion the line between curiosity/sincerity and offensive/creepy is crossed.
If it happens again, as them if they want to take a picture so to stare at!😂
Jared so sorry this is affecting your trip....take a TS moment and....Shake it Off🎉

The partitions are there for a reason and people shouldn’t be hanging over them looking into other people’s cabins. I would say chalk it up to experience. Thanks for sharing because I am sure that not only has this happened to others but maybe some of your viewers unwittingly have done the same thing, not realizing it it unacceptable behavior. Anyway keep up the great work and don’t let one idiot ruin your cruise!!

Most people say something when they know someone is on the next balcony like hi & don’t put their head around to look onto the next balcony. That’s creepy!
Please report this even if you are now off the cruise please you may stop someone else from being attacked or worse. So sorry this happened you did nothing wrong don’t downplay your feelings you have a complete right to feel this.

Jared, you can re-create what he saw - go on your balcony at the same time of day tomorrow and look in from the same angle. Maybe it is totally glared or whatever.
The way you described the whole scenario is certainly a head-scratcher. But I agree with you in just moving past this - assume this person will not bother you again - and enjoy your cruise. If it happens to happen again then do what you need - but all these people commenting to go report it are over-reacting in my opinion ... I would forget it and go on with my cruise.

That is so creepy. I’m sorry this happened to you. I would report to guest services after the first time just to have in record that something happened. People are crazy. Better to have everything documented in case something worse happened after the peeping.

Jared ....this is not okay. If this person did this to you, for whatever reason, they have or will probably do this to others. You have a few options - knock on his door and speak directly to him. Let him know that you saw him peering around the wall and you feel like it is a violation of your privacy. I would probably let guest services know that it happened and tell them you don't want any action taken at this time - but have a report completed anyway - whether it is to protect you or someone else. Most importantly - it was uncomfortable, but it was a moment in time. Let it go and enjoy the rest of your vacation. Just keep this in mind if you ever do an aft balcony again....and if you book one for a client, warn them of the possibility. Love ya'. And, I promise to never do this to you again. JK. 😘😘

That’s awful and I am feeling 😢 about your situation. This is not something to brush off because you are a public person, no one has the right to your private time. This will put a damper on the rest of your cruise wondering/waiting to see if it happens again. As a person who has been sexually assaulted, I feel anxious just hearing about this and I hate that you were violated like this. Tell security or guest services, they may know more about this person’s mental health and can ensure it doesn’t happen again. Hugs to you, wonderful guy ❤

Do you expect that the captain will change the course and aim for the closest harbor and demand that the Coast Guard come on board? People - get real. That's what "ship security staff is on board is for. But somebody has to give them a call instead of happily posting a video on CZcams.

I am a solo traveler. I have had the exact same thing happen to me. In my case it has usually been children or teenagers horsing around or being obnoxious. When I've told them to stop the parents have heard and called them down.
What you experienced is a totally different case. My first response would have been to pick up the phone and call security. The fact that you were being spied on deliberately was an
attack on your privacy. I may have wanted to initially give the benefit of doubt to the peeping tom on the basis of them maybe being first time cruisers. Still a good official visit from the ship's security would have been appropriate. Let them give you options as to what could have been done to stop this.

Yes, this was deliberate and needs to be reported. The barriers are there for a reason.
Also, if the ship suddenly jerked or shifted, your peeper could have been seriously hurt.
Not sure if i agree how your partner handled the situation. And i am feeling this both from someone who was molested when very young and as a formerly licensed mental health counselor.
From a purely personal viewpoint, with your partner supporting you and going with you to report this to security and/or having security come up to your cabin so you could point out exactly what happened.
Much love ❤ and arm around your shoulder to you.
(BTW, this is different from the situation where the woman tried to get you thrown out of the dining room. I agree with the others that there is something going on with her that is deeper than what happened.)
