We share Jared’s story of working over 100 nights at sea in 2021 while fully-employed at a corporate job as well as if he got fired or is still employed at his corporate job. We had the incredible opportunity to climb aboard Royal Caribbean Cruise Line's Adventure of the Seas FIRST sailing out of Nassau, Bahamas on June 12th, 2021. We were also onboard the FIRST sailing out of the US on Celebrity Edge on June 26th, 2021. Celebrity Cruise Lines was the first major North American cruise line that sailed from a North American port since March 2020. We were also on the first Carnival cruise out of Florida on July 4th Carnival Horizon sailing. We were on the Inaugural Season Carnival Mardi Gras cruise ship maiden voyage sailing on July 31st! We were on one of the first Disney Cruise Line ships sailing out of the US on Disney Dream on August 20th, 2021! Jared, I just wrote you a comment and thought I would read a few comments. I mentioned that I came across your channel from watching another cruise channel. Well guess what? Shiplife is the channel I watch. I've watched a few different cruise channels and ended up just watching one channel. Jay from the Shiplife channel is the most awesome and I love his girlfriend Lauren she is funny. You three need to do at least 2 videos a year called the three J's.

Left my last corporate job 3 years ago. Was the worst job in my corporate career. I am now in the same industry working for myself. Such a relief! No more sales quotas and managers! Much less stress!!! Looking forward to traveling more on cruises of course.

Congratulations on making the right choice for you, Jared! I have no doubt you can continue to be successful as a travel agent while cruising. I'm retired now, but the last couple of years I worked (at a corporate job) I was able to work remotely 2-3 days per week and I loved it. And it worked really well. I've read that corporations are trying to get people to come back to work in the office, but for many jobs that really isn't necessary. You're on the leading edge! Good luck and continued happy cruising!! My wife and I love watching your cruising videos.
Advice: to broaden your knowledge base you need to do more than the Caribbean and North American ports and sailing lengths. You will need to do more excursions. You will need to do more than carnival and rc. This is long term thinking for you. Too many bloggers take pride in doing the same old ports and the same lines. As a Ta your intimate knowledge will need to be broader and more extensive than basic “princess training “. All the best. Smart move using this platform to seed your initial client flow.

Jared I came about your channel from watching another cruise channel. When your popped up I thought I would give it a try. I knew however that I was inevitably going to keep watching even if I didn't like it simply because I love your demeanor. Your face is one of the brightest faces I have seen in a U Tube video. You have the brightest smile and your expressions are so frickin awesome. I am excited to subscribe and ready to lay out by my pool and catch up with all your past videos. I'm very happy for you amd congrats on your decision. I worked 2 pandemic years from home and now head office is forcing employees back in the office. This is such nonsense. I worked very hard these last 24 months and with less traffic and time loss i was able to perform better. Great news for travelers!

I have worked from my cruises since 2016. My coworkers perceptions don't bother me. As long as my boss is approving, it doesn't matter what my coworkers think. I just became a TA as well. It is part of my retirement plan. Congrats on your job change.

But, yeah WiFi isn't always the best on ships and too bad their attitude changed. I'm happy for you that you can be a travel agent too. Just take turns with the bookings that come in.

I've been looking at cruise deals online and have heard several of my cruise CZcamsrs say "Don't book directly with the cruise line." I'm in the US, so I probably would rule out Emma & Don for that purpose.

I've spent 20 years working full time at sea. Typically, I would spend 180 to 200 days a year on the high seas. "The ocean is your office" as has been said about my profession. By the way, I was a merchant marine officer until I retired. I didn't have to worry about getting fired for doing my job. If you like working while 'at sea' this would be another possibility.
I understand where you are coming from and this is a new way to telecommute, so it is not as widely recognized yet. I also do feel that it is beneficial to compartmentalize (for lack of a better word) these two aspects to ensure a work-life balance. When I'm on vacation, I want to focus fully on having fun (I worked virtually on one of my cruises in 2019 and it just wasn't the same). Just food for thought...
