It’s not just on cruise ships. People are gross everywhere! I wash my hands before I enter the buffet or the dining room. I carry individually wrapped wet ones with me and before I start to eat, I use one.
It’s not just on cruises, it’s everywhere that people are using the bathroom and not cleaning, and ignoring what we learned about not spreading illness when sick. I see it at my workplace, airports, Disneyland, etc.
100% agree with you! Thank you for bringing these issues to the forefront, hopefully this will make people think about being sanitary, and how they treat others!
Thank you for bringing this up, it’s a bit of a pet peeve of mine. It grosses me out when I go into a public restroom someone has used the facilities and they don’t wash their hands. These are adults Ionesco need to get some control on them. Yes, I feel that cr uses has really relaxed there standards. It used to be such a privilege to cruise now it’s changed. People are rude a lot of the times. I love cruises but we have gotten more picky about which cruise lines we choose.
I completely agree with you. I too have seen people handle food, perhaps to test the bread's freshness, not sanitise entering the buffet, coughing over food and other public areas, etc. From my own observations, the size of the ship has little or no bearing on how clean people's habits are, sadly. However, on the smaller lines like Scenic, Regent, and so forth the bad behaviour you mentioned are largely not an issue. Drunks, kids unsupervised, and running around like maniacs are two of the reasons we avoid the "fun" ships. Good luck to those who like them though.
Love seeing your smiling faces..😘 We still carry hand sanitizer with us everywhere we go. Next time I see you guys I'll tell you the story of how my mom was flashed on a cruise. lol
I am really disappointed with how handwashing seems to have dropped so far off post covid. I also am shocked by how little hand sanitizer is available on ships or at WDW like you said.
YES! I agree about hand washing. It turns my stomach as well when people don't wash their hands. Also, I saw your FB post showing your 45k subs. Congrats! That is an amazing accomplishment! You will be at 50k in no time.
We always tend to smile when talking about a 'flasher,' but that is something much more serious than the other things you talked about, regardless as to whether they were drunk or not.
Sadly, it's just not cruise ships! In general I think standards have dropped considerably everywhere. People seem to be of the "I don't care anymore" mentality.
I agree with you 100% I as a female have also seen women use the bathroom and leave without washing their hands. I will call them out. Some being the most young beautiful women full make, perfect hair but fails to wash their hands. I've also experience rude young kids running up and down the halls at 2 am laughing and talking loudly. Once my husband after about the third time around got up and told. them it's not a play ground, and people are trying to sleep. They had to be between the ages of 12-15. Where were the parents? I agree it has been much worse since the return from the pandemic. We are even skeptical about the buffet since the workers stopped serving. I carry hand sanitizer and use peroxide spray after handling the utensils because that's what kills Norovirus. It is very sad. But we do still love cruising. Love you guys. Stay safe out there.
We always knuckle touch elevator buttons and casino buttons. We always use a napkin to grab the tongs at a buffet. We never hold the hand rails at the stairs. We always have hand sanitizer on hand. These are simple things to do to avoid a big problem. Some people just don't get it and continue to be lazy or just pigs.
Great video!! Yes, lack of hygiene, has definitely got out of hand. When I started my nursing course, we were told to think about everything having a red dye and you get this on your hands, when you touch anything! Use a towel to open the door of a bathroom, after washing- hand sanitizer, when no soap and water is available. Everyone, remember your Covid rules- 20 seconds of hot water and soap! Try to avoid crowds and buffets- respect elevators and not push everyone in- we get off if too full; try to use the steps, and sanitize after touching that handrail! Even at home, I have disposable gloves in my car, to pump gas. Yes, be mindful of germs- fly, Covid, common colds, etc!
We were just on a princess cruise where a person put his fingers in his mouth eating food at the buffet line and then he touched all the salad tongs. I said something to him and to one of the servers. As an RN this is so gross.
I see people on the buffet that go around the sinks so they don’t have to wash their hands, people have become pigs, we were talking about it the other day how people burp and don’t even excuse themselves, I hate listening to people burp, we were not allowed as kids, so we never burp.
Yikes! Hygiene is a MUST! One of the worst things I see is people blowing their noses in eating spaces. They do this, put their napkin or tissue back in their pocket etc. and just continue on with eating. Worse still leaving something behind. NO NO NO - Bathrooms are everywhere on the ships so if you must blow your nose, please go to the restroom, and wash your hands afterwards. Please and thank you!!
I agree with all the points in the article. I think the being on time should have also mentioned being on time for shows. Another one for me is letting the stateroom door slam shut. Although some ships have stateroom doors now that don’t really do this.
A good article, but I have to say my husband is a immune compromised and we were advised by his doctor to not eat at a buffet. I agree with all the points.
On jewel. Folks were gross. Coughing sneezing. Etc. We stopped going to the windjammer in favor of dining room for lunch. We carry hand gel. We never use a public bathroom unless it is an emergency. We bring our own soap for the room also
Hey guys.. This was "So On Point". I wish the technology would be built into the restrooms with a loud siren... ALERT..ALERT..ALERT.. Sink not activated after using the toilet 😂😂
Just to mention and make you aware. Yes, i agree with washing and touching food but, about 5 years ago I lost my left lung from a blood clot. Although I am not sick, don't have a cold, I cough. and I do it about every 5 minutes or so. I also clear my chest often. So just to give you something to think about, Not everyone who coughs a lot is sick.
Completely understand. We know some people have a dry cough from many different things that aren’t harmful to anyone else as well. What we are witnessing are people noticeably sick with tissues, wet coughs and sneezing into the open air without any care for others. It’s hard to understand why people aren’t caring for others while sick by even just covering a cough or distancing from others when possible.
I’ve noticed post Covid more people in general are more selfish and rude. My hope and prayer is that being kind will overtake hate in the world eventually.
My biggest complaint besides the hygiene are the chair and the jacuzzi hogs, dam you have whole families who stay in the jacuzzi all day , give other people a chance .
Some people, like me, have a chronic cough left over from having covid. My doctor has tried different things but the cough remains. So some cough’s don’t mean the person is sick.
Our last cruise there was a family group of approximately 20 including adults and children they would send 3 of them to the theatre early and would save a whole row of chairs in the theatre one would sit at each end if row and not let anyone in the row and when would go to middle so they could wave to others as the arrived to let them know where they were. I found this so rude.
My husband and I just got back from a 7 cruise on Princess. It was a very pleasant voyage without any incidents. We were Reserve Collection (Club Class) passengers so dining was very easy in the main dining room. No waiting and excellent service. We completely avoided the buffet. A couple of days after getting home I developed what appears to be a cold. COVID test are still negative. I could be that I was standing on the balcony barefooted in a bathrobe in a chilly mist/light rain taking photos of the Statue of Liberty at 6:30 AM sailing back into the Port of Brooklyn. My bad. There weren’t too many kids, but you right, parents no longer practice being a parent. If I had behaved like that when I was a kid, my father would have giving me a stern talking to, and I would have straighten up. This will be our last cruise for a while. We are planing some rail adventures.
in my epidemiology class i'll always remember a case study where school kids were coming down with hepatitis. long story short, it was traced back to a bakery where one of the workers would use the bathroom without washing their hands and then mix the glaze with their bare hands and dribble it onto the pastries. ugh.....
Hey not know how I missed this lol am a Scott and wear kilts everywhere ( even have a Captain America kilt lol) and make suer to wear cycle shorts under my kilt for this reason lolol so can't flash anyone by accident lol
ok yes I am going to say the P word and open the can of fish. in a bit lol. I live in small town Usa and we are split 50/50 and population of 15,000 ove a hour radius. now in 2010 we had 2 Facebook groups one for selling and for for things going on . to day we have 7 to 10 for same number of people as it is now based on Political lines( the p word) I am in most groups as the point is if there is n accident or something else important it is useful to know. but in Certain groups they do talk about how bad Hygiene is int eh sense it is a waste, you get stronger the more times you are sick and yes they have parties one one kid gets sick so other do as well. so from my point of view some out there are anti hygiene and say you are the issue not them. this is sad and yes you said it is getting worse as we are getting close to an election. and this started in my area as soon as like Covid was mostly over. and in some super crowed situations. we wear mask and we still hget comments cause we chose too. it is sad and disgusting and part of our new world order.
One of my first jobs was cleaning bathrooms in a hotel. I could not believe how much dirtier women’s rest rooms were compared to the mens rooms. My boss was female. She told me women won’t sit on the toilets. They shot urine everywhere ! As a young man I did not know this. I quit because of this.
People have become downright disgusting and the lack of home training is obvious. Not washing hands is a major problem as they touch the tongs in the buffet. Myself and others did get flashed on the Regal Princess at the International Cafe. Same scenario as there was an intoxicated Scotsman in his kilt and a lady asked if ha had anything under and he was quite happy to show everyone that there was nothing.
No one has ever flashed me but I had someone grab me by the downstairs. Yes, he grabbed me by the crutch. I saw him standing on the railing and I had seen him around the ship. I talked him down from the very top of the railing and I said tell me your room number. I'll get you there. Well, he took that as an advance and grabbed me by the downstairs.I right hooked him. Right on the nose. Blood all over the place and on my white dress. I got security. I told them what happened and no I didn't end up in the brigg. But he did.
I think people just don’t care about etiquette like they used to. I was taught to dress up when traveling, and that doesn’t happen at all. People handle food, talk through movies, don’t parent their kids, and get on their cell phones at literally any time. And if he same time we have to accept the fact society is changing, and can’t go out and be the etiquette police or let someone’s manners ruin our whole day. It is what it is. Taking everything personally and letting others ruin your vacation is doing a little much.
Guys we just experienced that last month on the Venezia outta NYC. There was so much problem with teens running up/down halls, taking doors decorations and s7cker punching passengers, it was awful. Reported it to GS and they did nothing unfortunately.
My personal opinion is that all cruise lines should go back to pandemic protocols. There should be MANDATORY hand washing or you don't enter the food area. Manned and enforced by crew. There should be crew members dishing up the food. (Also will help with portion size). No passengers should be handling the serving spoons/tongs. No unaccompanied children at the buffet counters. Especially the dessert and ice cream areas. It might slow the line, but better that than 150 passengers with COVID or that other flu like virus that decimates cruise ships. The other thing I would do to prevent the spread of disease would be to limit the number of passengers allowed in a venue to equal the number of seats available. Once full no one goes in. Offer a 3rd show, or have matinees throughout the day. Put on more than one comedian/trivia/game show in a different venue so the rooms aren't crowded. The last change I would make is requiring all cruise lines to limit the passenger count if there is not sufficient crew aboard. Aside from better service, it would help with security and (God Forbid) if there was an emergency, passenger safety. I'm absolutely with you guys on the disgusting hygiene I've seen in general. Women also don't wash after using the restroom. It's so gross.
JJ question different topic : are you seeing any alerts of Cruise Lines that dock in Israel diverting due to the Gaza Hamas declaration of War on Israel ?
Early this month, on the HAL Rotterdam from Amsterdam to Norway my family and I seemed to be the only ones to wash hands or at least use the sanitizer! It was a shame! Disgusting people.
Agreed. Sickens me too. And at the airport bathroom it’s the WORST. Worse than cruise ships. I’d say one out of every 3 guys walks out without washing their hands. GROSS.
Hand hygiene was something everyone forgot ! We all learned in kindergarten and had to relearn shoring Covid. It’s not a surprise that the crisis passed so people forget. It’s part out our history . Forgot - repeat 😢
Too many people in a group is a pain so count me out when it comes to the mega ships. It’s famously said that if you put enough rats in a box they will eventually start to fight…
Omg I’m glad that Carnival raised its prices on the three day cruises. I have to live about 20 minutes from that pork and I did go on one of the three days in January 2022 I had a good time. But I came back with Covid. And I had to test prior to that so I know I didn’t have it before I left. There are lots of cruises I want to do in the future, but I don’t want to be on a cruise with a whole Lotta kids that are misbehaving. I’m very pleased that Carnival and other lines are now having drug sniffing dogs because I got tired of the smell of marijuana, especially on that carnival ship. As far as not washing your hands, that is a huge pet peeve of mine, I live by the beach and neither the state or the city beaches have any soap in the bathrooms!! Except when they are big events, and they casually bring in a bathroom trailer. So I went on Amazon and bought soap sheets which come in this small little package, so I always have soap with me. The mini hand sanitizer athing didn’t work. Little bottles always seem to get squished. or the opened was just a pain.
Just remember = lots of people (including me) suffer from terrible Hayfever (all year round)……We don’t have a ‘cold / flu’! We have Hayfever! You can’t catch Hayfever! And, we cannot do anything about our symptomology - until our Hayfever medication kicks in! Don’t judge others - unless you know what they might be suffering!😳😳😳 Like your work - but you need to be ‘informed’!😎😎😎 (During Covid it felt like I needed to wear a note around my neck to say: “This is NOT Covid = this is terrible Hayfever! Give me a break”.)😣😣😣
Hey guys. Ppl do or don’t do lots of unsanitary things at sea and on land. Parents need to correct the children. Kilt wearing flashers? 😂. Oh my. QUESTION: can a ship excursion leave passengers behind if they are severely late in return. Guys. It’s said to say some women do it too. I’ve seen and heard women not wash their hands in the restroom and exit. Hygiene has always been lost at sea and land.
Yes! Ship Excursions rarely do this, but if a passenger is nowhere to be found they will leave you. (This tends to be long after the call time, not just a few minutes)
You think Covid would’ve taught people but her hygiene practices. But people are people, what they did pre-pandemic. I guess they’re just going back to their old habits, which is really disgusting and gross. I used to work at Walmart during Covid and there was a customer, that was touching all the baguettes to see if they were fresh I guess. The baguette bags are open ended at one end. After I saw that I mentioned that to my manager and he said we had to double bag the baguettes from now on, so no part of the bed was exposed.as my mom used to say, common sense isn’t common. Not everybody has common sense unfortunately.
People (aka the general public) are gross. Period, full stop. And I feel like folks think that being on vacation gives you a Cloak of Invisibility...ah, NOPE. I can still see your bad behavior!
I agree 100%. There is some peoples that has no respect for others and themselves. They're rude and inconsiderate peoples. We have no control over them. This is one of the ugly things about cruise. It is their choice. But there is alot of wonderful peoples that are great peoples. What goes around comes around.
As much as you both cruise it’s no wonder you’ve seen it all: the good, bad and ugly. After all your observations make compelling content for the channel. Travel today is for the masses and the cruising business model depends on low labor costs reasonable fares and high load factors on billion dollar megaships. It’s the Wild West out there and society has changed dramatically. That can be a good or bad thing. I grew up in the latter half of the golden age of travel, where one paid dearly to travel. It was a much nicer experience overall as long as you had the money. Fortunately air and cruise fares have remained relatively low compared to those days. With that comes the masses and you kind of get what you pay for. So yeah, there are lots of dirty handed, sneezing hee haws you have to deal with. People ask me often how can you go on those big nasty ships? I just tell ‘em, I love the sea, I love the service and don’t let anything bother me for more than five minutes. Most of all I love to see people have a good time. In fact I’ll be on my second trans-Atlantic crossing this year, sailing from Barcelona to FLL on the Reflection. Planning to have a 14 day party and will carry my little bottle of Purel wherever I go in addition to my AirPods to drown out any rudeness or obnoxious behavior! Happy Cruising, now and forever!

We are hoping so too! 🙏🏼

It seems like we have gone a full 180 from two-three years ago 😅
@@JJCruise sadly it really seems that way

100% agree. Seriously how much trouble is it to wash one’s hands!!!! 😊
It’s wild! Thanks for watching and commenting! 🥳
Agreed!!!
Sadly, it's just not cruise ships! In general I think standards have dropped considerably everywhere. People seem to be of the "I don't care anymore" mentality.
You guys knocked the ball out the park. Yes is it a people issue with their habits. It's just down right discussing.
Yes! Everything you just said!!
I agree with you 100% I as a female have also seen women use the bathroom and leave without washing their hands. I will call them out. Ewwww! Yes, burps are meant for private spaces, not public.
I'm not sure that the hygiene issue is a new one but rather a more noticeable one since the pandemic. It's definitely an issue, just not a new one.

I’ve noticed post Covid more people in general are more selfish and rude. My hope and prayer is that being kind will overtake hate in the world eventually.
On celebrity millennium in July in Alaska a man got on the elevator outside the spa area, completely naked, bathing suit in hand
My biggest complaint besides the hygiene are the chair and the jacuzzi hogs, dam you have whole families who stay in the jacuzzi all day , give other people a chance .
It’s not just cruising. Manners have gone away in general. People are trifling and rude everywhere.

At least he was wearing the kilt properly; you're not SUPPOSED to wear anything underneath a kilt. It's a Scottish military tradition.

Oh wow! I, like many others have often wondered what’s under a man’s kilt. Guess I know now. Sounds like he didn’t leave anything to the imagination.
Not yet! 😅 not good idea

GROSS.
We’ve noticed this too!
More people thinking they’re more privileged
Hand hygiene was something everyone forgot ! We all learned in kindergarten and had to relearn shoring Covid. It’s not a surprise that the crisis passed so people forget. It’s part out our history . Forgot - repeat 😢
Too many people in a group is a pain so count me out when it comes to the mega ships.
It’s famously said that if you put enough rats in a box they will eventually start to fight…
Interesting perspective! Though we have to admit, we’ve seen a lot of these on all sizes of ships 😅
