There is a $25 toool called Grouter Outer that removes grout from floor tile much faster than this, and it does not eat up expensive blades every few tiles. And all you need is a drill.
As long as you keep focus on grout, and only on grout, any abrasive tool will do the job, for starters you can use a toothbrush from your friend's grandma house.
I know you mentioned be careful not to run into the tile. However, is it not quite easy to accidentally damage the tile by moving the multi tool at slightly the wrong angle?
It appears the reciprocating saw was the most effective, but you seem to prefer the oscillating tool. Is that because its less likely to damage the tile? Or do you think the oscillating tool is actually faster than the reciprocating?
