Delaware is so far the only state to consider all electric bikes, with or without pedals and of any wattage, to be mopeds. Gotta register them for 5 bucks a year. Unfortunately this is according to the law not necessarily the DMV. Hopefully states go the Delaware route not the California route. I'm currently in communication with my local reps to clarify but clueless to describe them is an understatement.
Over here in cleveland the police is not aloud to chase bikes and I had a 8000 watt e scooter and I went past a police going between 45 and 50 on a 25 mph street and his eyes was wide open and he just went by his way
They are cracking down because everyone rides like a damn idiot., I see people in your videos running stop signs, and stop lights, spliting lanes, pulling wheelies in the middle of traffic, etc., That scares the shit out of all the people in their cars and the cops are probably getting calls about it every day

Sotion motor is so beastly! I actually ended up getting the pegals for my bomber and it's been the best purchase I've made to future proof it as I can swap to pegs in a few seconds. Turning signals and a decent moto headlight and you're all set 💯💯

Yea I live in San Diego CA and I'm a trauma nurse. We've had total of 11 ebike traumas (pedestrian accidents or hit by car) in 3 weeks and 5 of those accidents were by surrons/ Talarias / Bombers..

Wonder how many of them riders got hit by the car and not the bike hitting the car.
Example: people see a wreck they all turn there heads and want to look at the blood.
Same imo for people having fun, the drivers need to be more aware of the people around.
If this was all pedal bikes I doubt people would be trying to ban bikes.
Its the Cars who are trying to push people off the road and into the pavement.
Things need to change and people need o wake the F up.
Most people drive like they are on auto and when something like a bike comes around they have no idea how to react.

So as I said people need to learn how to drive and then we would have less blood on the streets.

Because the Surron hype started in California with Surronster and young kids riding freestyle tricks all over the state, way before ebike laws started to change, California being the first because it's where it all started, some of these individuals ride on the high ways with total disregard for everything and everyone, It only takes a few bad Apple's to spoil a bunch.

Dang, just caught the tail end of the premier, and to rewatch it from the start. That new motor is killer, and I know you wanna upgrade 😉. If you are concerned about the crackdowns, then register and upgrade the Sur Ron, and use a different bike for the paths and trails. The reason for the crackdowns in Cali and NY is some riders being reckless, but it ends up affecting us all. Eventual crackdowns were expected though, and that's one of the reasons I did upgrades that kept the bike looking stock. I can roll right up to a park ranger and show them the 750 watt/20mph limits, but can still change it to 3kw which is decent for a 60 pound folding bike. You did a lot of uphill in this video... your legs must be tired! 🤣

Everybody who bought surons new that sooner or later municipalities, police dept and cities across the nation would start to enforce the laws. Surons were never intended to be driven on the streets. Thanks to CZcams and everyone boasting about how fast their bikes are changed the whole game. It's only going to get worse.

I havent had an issue. Whenever i see a cop i ride the shoulder of the road respectfully and slowly. Ride like you would on a lower power ebike and youll be fine.
Also, 13kw is plenty of power. Double what you're running now. If you upgrade the battery you're set.

I'm starting to think that we need a shaft drive upgrade - that way we could actually incorporate a gear box and with this much HP/weight ratio there isn't really a limit to your top speed except maybe aerodynamics.
The talaria has a gearbox instead of the jackshaft the surron has. They're competitors I own a talaria much better bike.
i get its fun to ride those Surrons, but we have traffic laws and regulation for a reason. I have driven commercial trucks and taxi for almost 30 years, so i consider myself a few steps above average driver, especially here in the US. Not one day passes without i see some crazy and dangerous decisions made in traffic. One thing that blows my mind, is it dangerous to use your turn signal? Maybe its a secret where you are going? Let us all help each other in traffic and get safely to our destination.
But when a Surron passes me on the bike trail doing way more than my 45 MPH, with 2 guys on it, no lights and no helmets, that is beyond stupid.
Also experienced a Surron come up on my left (3rd lane) doing wheelie at +40 mph.
Any ebike capable of going any faster than 28 MPH should require 2 basic things: Drivers license and insurance ! That will help the police to get them of the streets.
Its becoming the wild west out here, the other day i saw 3 young people on a ebike (not a Surron)- it doesnt have the power to handle that weight in a safe manner.

Look up ting tong sotion motor you can get it from China for like $400/$500
Just let them know to upgrade the brakes to a 4-piston and bigger thick-diameter disc for stopping power at those speeds. I can see those brake pads having to be replaced every 100 miles or so.

No insurance needed even if it's a moped and registration is 5 bucks a year with only 1 initial inspection. Fines can't exceed the amount required to register it. Best ebike/electric moped laws in the country here.

Don’t forget, turning up the field weakening also increases speed, but you lose torque
Motor does affect speed and power because different motors have different kv ratings and perform differently also some motors are more efficient than others. Really the perk to the sotion over stock is its an ipm motor so the magnets are internal and can't break off at high rpm which allows this motor to go faster for longer and won't overheat as quickly or fling magnets.
Motor has everything to do with speed. You want a Ferrari or a mini van. Haha

In most states a sur-ron is considered a moped but isn't street legal as is. Even Mopeds are limited to a top speed of 30mph. Please don't ride sur-rons on bicycle/walking paths, class 2 e-bike riders are being punished for the actions of electric dirtbike riders. Class 2 in Nevada; 750w and 20mph top speed, capable of pedal power. Can be ridden anywhere a regular bicycle can.
No speed limits, no power restrictions, or pedal requirements for mopeds in this state. Two wheels and an electric motor of more than 750 watts or a top speed of over 20 and it's a moped.
Because in California you van do drugs on the street, but a surron is the problem. Its all about collecting money

The reason for the crack downs on ebike is because you and a whole lot of other riders are riding like twats on public roads. I know wheelies are awesome and great for upping your view count, but when you are doing a wheelie with say oncoming traffic, some of them gets scared. They can't know how well you ride, or if you are about to swerve over into their lane and hit them head on. And some of them actually calls the cops and report you. True story. As the number of calls keep growing, so does the crack down. Note that I don't say you should not wheelie, I think you should for the thrill. Just use your brain and do them in areas where you will not get reported to the cops.
