  • I was really impressed by the Klipsch SPL-100 so I decided to find out how it compares to one of the kings of 10inch subwoofers, the SVS PB-1000.

    Great video ! I have 10 by 14 ft room, planning to get Marantz SR5014 and 5 B&W CCM 663 ceiling speakers HT setup more for movies and still looking for a Sub woofer. Was leaning towards SVS PB1000 (not SB 1000 as that was too subtle for my taste when I heard in Bestbuy) but this looks bit big for my room so is there a smaller speaker in a similar price range with balanced controlled bass with the bass feel ? or am I better off just choosing PB1000 as there may not be another woofer closer to this with smaller foot print

    I bought a $500 Klipsch subwoofer back in 2006. I had never heard of the brand but the salesperson raved about them so I jumped. Well, about 3 years later, it completely died. I took it in for repair and they said the amp was dead and it wouldn't be worth fixing. Therefore, I'll never buy another Klipsch product. 3 years is ridiculous and I didn't even use it that much. I actually just bought this SVS sub. I'd like to add one more feature not mentioned. Customer service. I have called SVS twice already. I've never experienced such incredible service. The woman was incredibly knowledgeable. In fact, I was telling her about problems I've had with my new Denon receiver. She pulled up the manual for it and was helping me with my receiver. She knew more about it than the Denon reps. knew! I don't know about you, but I am willing to pay more knowing I'm getting a 5 YEAR guarantee and access to service like that. By the way, Denon has been a disaster to deal with. No more Denon for me. Horrible service.

      Thanks for subscribing! Best all around I'd say SVS PB1000 (czcams.com/video/QPZzdoTfrg8/video.html). Followed by the RSL Speedwoofer 10s if you like a fun sub that plays mid bass well. But if you like really deep bass go for the Monoprice Monolith (czcams.com/video/OSR5zcaFSnQ/video.html). You obviously watch the comparison to the Klipsch which I also like but yea all around, go SVS PB1000.

    Does the Klipsch not travel through walls at all? I'm still in my parents house and I'm upstairs, she has problems with low end, I don't really get it, but she acts like she's in pain when she hears a car with a sub drives by. A succeeding series "1000 Pro" has been released by SVS, now with adjustable DSP by smartphone app. I wouldn't buy Klipsch SPLs any longer. It's not worth the ~150 bucks saved. You get both inferior technology and cabinet design vulnerable to chuffle and resonances when choosing Klipsch.

    • @HomeTheaterHobbyist
      @HomeTheaterHobbyist  Před 5 lety +1

      It's ok to mix 10 and 12" subs you'll just have to play around with placement in your room and subwoofer level to find the balance that works for you. As far as the PB1000 vs. PB2000......... The PB2000 does play a little lower so if you're mixing that with your 10" Klipsch, it's probably better to choose the PB2000, it'll be a more noticeable depth in bass.

    On the SVS- The outputs are 80hz HIGHPASS, which removes the bass going back to an amp to drive small speakers. Which is kind of a cool feature. Ultimately, these line level outputs will not work to drive another sub, since it filters any bass below 80hz.
