@@paintspot1509that doesn’t answer why they needed it changed or why the pro censor crowd needs it changed to the extent of death threats when there are more vulgar games and shows pushed by Sony. It shows they are not doing this out of moral grounds but a political bias.
To answer your question, It matters to be because Sony needs to leave game developers alone and let them publish the games they envisioned and not jump through political PC hoops to please a crowd that won’t buy the game regardless. It matters that if you advertise something as uncensored you don’t go back on that on day one of release. It’s not about money to them, it’s about pleasing their overlords. And lastly, if you don’t speak up and are complicit with them taking an inch today arbitrarily, they will take a mile tomorrow. America was founded on people retaliating about a small tax on tea lol. Their argument doesn't hold any weight or truth. I'm a 50 year old gamer. I'm married, in a good paying job for over 20 years and have two kids. I'm not happy with the Stellerblade censorship. It's the principal not what's being censored.
I don't have an interest in playing the game but this is indicative of a larger issue and if anyone says otherwise they are lying to you or a fool.
Agreed that it is part of the principal. For me it is both the principal and censorship. You give those types of people an inch, they take a mile kind of thing. Cause this kind of censorship situation has been happening across many games.

They have been calling people virgins in lieu of an argument for 20 years at least. They just changed the buzzword to incel.

@@paintspot1509 nope, considering they are going to register lower revenue because of it (see the Bud Light fiasco as an example)
Yeah, it starts like this and then you know 20 30 years down the line we’ll have crazy people running into art museums trying to tape black bars over paintings of nude women.
I believe video games are an art form and that censoring them in many ways is wrong.
That's a you problem. Nobody is claiming video games are art.
@@paintspot1509 that’s cause nobody really has to. It’s pretty obvious unless you play a really small amount of games. I don’t like unnecessary censorship in video games. Especially in a game that was being propped up for not being censored or changed in this way.
Even if I was just the only person having a problem with this, it wouldn’t make my opinion invalid.
@JcProdi your opinion isn't invalid. The question is more if anybody else should care. What difference does it make if you think video games are art? Art already is "censored", hence why a playboy magazine isn't going to end up in a modern art museum.
If the best selling point for a game is to be "uncensored" then the game is must be pretty bad. Why anybody "propped" this game up for this is beyond reason. There are plenty of X rated games if you really want that kind of thing.
@@paintspot1509 well, imagine if you pay to go see the Venus de Milo in person and found out that the museum didn’t find her being topless appropriate so they put a shirt on her. I’d imagine most people would be pretty upset. Now I’m not saying stellar blade is anything remotely close to the Venus de milo, but it was being advertised as not caving into current dei policies and not dialing back it’s main character’s attractiveness or sexuality.
People have also been showing proof that they’ve been getting refunded for false advertising.
Also, there’s plenty of artists and other creators who would all agree that they don’t like it when their creations are changed or censored in anyway especially if they don’t agree with it.
And if I just wanted to get off I would just go play an xrated game or watch a video. It’s not about that.
The problem isn’t that the content is being changed to appeal to someone that isn’t you. The problem is that the content is being changed to appeal to people that were never interested in the content to begin with. It’s about power and control.
Yes i told people in the comments who hated this and i told them have they gone to a beach before and none of them said yes so it goes to show. Those who are triggered by this are jealous and hateful women who wants everyone to be like them cause they don't want to look hard to look sexy.
Uh, that's a slippery slope to say. We censor our movies all the time and no one bats an eye, we just have actual rules for it more so than games. Movies, games, shows have been the most censored thing ever. Nothing has changed, the times have changed is all. Things are actually less censored now, it just seems people are bored or just dislike how it always was.
What I don't get is how was it censored and not just changed? Were the developers pressured by someone to make the change or did they just think the patched version was better?
@@Gronmin We don't actually know for certain, but the circumstances surrounding the changes seem suspect enough that I think censorship is actually the most likely "Occasm's Razor" explanation. So I don't think people are wrong to be complaining.
A few points supporting this;
1) Stellar Blade was brigaded for the appearance of its main protagonist for months, so we know that pressure to censor existed.
2) The changes were only made as a part of a 1.01 day one update, indicating that they were made last minute after the game had already gone "gold".
3) The changes made are minimal, only targeted at increasing coverage of the character's breasts and hips, and with only additive edits being made to the existing character meshes.
So to conclude; the changes are fast and low quality work which "just happens" to cover the more titillating areas of the model, done in a short timeframe, and done following an inflated controversy about the character's sexualized appearance.
I completely agree with Jeff

For those who say "why does this matter, its a trivial thing, unimportant, minor event" I would say this is how almost all censorship and erosion begins on almost every important issue. If there is no pushback here, then it incentives them to make a more egregious or ambition moves next time to further erode or disrupt what the customer base wants or is expecting. We must always be aware of the potential cascading effect that tolerance and acceptance of what we don't like will, inevitably, lead too. Stand up to censorship, or be forever silenced.

This seems to be the only compromise that we can do now. I'd even say have the censor by default so people can't complain without getting called out.
If those outfits were on display prior to it going on sale and people preordered based on that content, in the UK that would be cause for complaint under trade descriptions act. It used to be a big problem in the 90s with game companies showing screenshots from 16 bit or arcade machines on 8 bit games where the graphics were completely different.

It's likely not a decision they made, but someone else that has power over them, after all... they're the ones making it. They know how depraved gacha gamers are, and capitalized on it, I assume they're smart enough to know that censoring these sort of stuff goes poorly.

These people are ridiculous because they celebrate what literally could ruin their own characters for their games too.
If a game company created a game with a main trans character, and the publisher demanded the trans character be made into a cis character on a day 1 patch, censoring the trans character, these boneheads would be burning down cities in revenge ragers.
They're hypocrites. All of them. You can't censor one without the other being on the same chopping block subject to the same censorship. You get either censored or uncensored for all. There is no in between.
Except the devs said this wasn't censorship and was their intention all along? And comparing changing a character's gender to covering up a little cleavage is a wild take.

This is so ironic, considering the fact that everyone directing their anger at Sony are choosing to ignore the fact that ShiftUp did this thing in the past as well with their mobile game. No Sony.
Sony, as a publisher, approved every single thing about this game. People think Shiftup tricked Sony for years with the builds, and Sony let the "uncensored" outfits get pressed on Blu Ray? And then force them to change it on the Day 1 patch?
I give the petition a 50/50 chance if it gets enough people. Gruumz has had success before and those angry fans could quickly become happy fanatics if Shift Up patches the costumrs back in. The question really is whether Sony will let it through and if Shift Up has the power to defy them.

It doesn't "solve" the censorship problem, it just sidewinds it. There should be a place for uncensored media on all platforms, not just PC.
Funny enough the original versions of the outfits are probably still in the game code and should be easy to re-enable them.
That's is why some PC player always call PC the "PCMR". You can be the "Master" to play the game the way as you see fit. Censorship should be optional and not by force. I guess if the game is being mod. Some one surely would put the Futa stuff on EVE.
And you think those mods will just be allowed? From what I hear, modders are being attacked heavily for trying to do stuff like that.

They shouldn't have that imo, or at least not as a standard. They should release what they were specifically aiming to release and carve out their audience rather than fitting it to everyone's needs. The option to toggle brings the idea that there's something wrong and a reason for people to demand the toggle be the default.
