Hey great job on having the guts to tear into it! I just now saw ur video. I helped repair a 7520 transmission in the fall of 2015. It looked identical. We got some of our parts from a deutz-allis dealer since they also use the exact same transmission and the parts are available through them and not locked down like they are through Deere. Would love to do another one sometime. It's fun doing something the Deere dealer knows nothing about!😁
Thank you Warren, a yr ago, I ran across a video (showing simplified operation) of AGCO's Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) Explained, and have been intrigued by what appears to be a simple & elegant way to side step some weaknesses in automotive CVTs.
Finally, someone took the "magic" out of these transmissions.I guess if you can make this thing work again, you can make loads of money only by repairing ivt's , thereby saving the owners even way more.
Thanks Frank, I have been into a couple of large frame 7000 series witch are quite a bit different layout but same operating characteristics. It's just a hydrostatic pump and motor with directional packs and 4 range packs and 2 speed sensors.
Looks like that sure is going to be a win win. Make some good money for your self, learn something and also save the owner a boat load of cash. Good on you sir.
the bad bearing would change the air gap on the speed sensor causing a skip in the reading or no reading at times then the trans would default or lock out ,whatever tractors do we do automatics too but in trucks if the input \output don't match they limp mode instantly to second gear on some, also always inspect the sensor as they are magnetic and you would have particles on it you would know then to look for mechanical damage or not.
I am constantly impressed by your skills Warren, just amazing. Maybe this is a stupid question and maybe there is an obvious answer that I can't see, but why wouldn't you pressure wash the transmission or even the entire tractor before you started the disassembly?
It's crazy that a single bearing failed so spectacularly. My guess is a little bit of something got in it or possibly it's lubrication source got blocked somehow
Hi ! When I put in a new IVT transmission on my 6920s tractor, I mechanically disconnected the park lock before I took it out of the tractor. Did you test the oil pressure. The main pump on the front of the gearbox.system pressure hi and low. All clutc pack park brake pto brake 4wd clutc ? The fault on my gearbox was C1 clutc slipped and was worn out. The main oilpump was out of range. You have to check where the oil pump is mounted after wear .... on the back plate. Good luck this is going well !!
I'm 32 years old, i'm a diesel mechanic, I fix, repair, servis ( construction equipment, traktors, trucks, pickup trucks. It IS dificult, stresfol, dirty work, But I like this Job. Keep Up The good work 👍, huge fan of this Chaneel, I would love to work whit you warren :-)🔧🔩⚙️
Smoked that bearing. Absence of any foreign material makes it a head scratcher. Oil flow, or drain issue? Beyond that I'm guessing a bearing defect, or maybe damaged during assembly. Any methodologies for adjusting pre-load on that shaft?
Shain Andrews Yeah, I am with you on that. The rest of the bearings look new. I looked in the case and there is no feed hole in the case or shaft , it looks to be lubricated by being immersed in oil.
grease monkey101 even if you get another lamp stand like you have but led. Keeping the halogen version also asit supplies more heat to work by. I would also think a quarter ton or half ton ratchet type winch on the end of the engine hoist might be far easier than trying to lift or lower parts
well that sucks, failed pack or pump is easy but one bearing failure is gonna be a head scratcher. manufacturer defect or assembly error? but this tractor is fairly old and lots of hours unless this 7320 had ivt transplant back then
No , it is original transmission. I believe mofert2009 might be right as to some foreign material from rear end got in bearing, it is the only thing that makes since so far.
I wonder what the value of that assembly would cost vs what u charged for the job. Don’t say what u charged but it would be interstate to know how many hours it took :)
Christopher perkins Your mfwd pack is a spring loaded pack , which means while in 2wd it takes oil pressure to release clutches . In 4wd oil pressure is taken away and spring pressure takes over Sounds like a leak in mfwd pack.
Just repairing a Deutz with a faulty input speed sensor, ZF have an input speed sensor and an output sensor on the transmission (run by separate ECU) if one sensor is faulty tractor will move but then go into neutral, the fault will be an alarm via an audible signal with fault codes on the transmission panel and instrument cluster, this should be an easy fault to find, do JD have alarms so one would know what the problem is?
via denmark or you find a dealer in us ? would be nice to know ca prize fore your rebuild . good work and nice videos i look forward fore every one you put out
You have to check the inner bearings of the rear axles. In Europe most of the ivt transmission problems are because chips of metal from the rear axle bearings come into the ivt.
+mofert2009 Reading the theory of operation it says that reverse is achieved by engaging reverse clutch pack and shaft rotation changes by swash plate movement in hydrostatic pump there by reversing the fixed displacement motor in turn reversing shaft rotation. I know what you're thinking like most transmission have an idler gear to change shaft rotation, that's what I thought at first too.
im getting ready to do this to my 6210R and all I can say is who the Fuck thought this transmission up??? its amazing to me.
All that was really wrong with this one was a bearing on the output side went out, other than that for 18k hours it looked pretty good.
A lot of pieces but simpler than I had expected but you are a hell of a mechanic, there's less and less of you guys around. Great vids.
Thanks Mick, we will get it going whatever it takes.

That pile of gears and parts scares the hell out of me...I dont know how you do it. Great job!
Great to see someone going where no man has gone before. Looks promising. Hope you get that sucker back to together without any major hiccups.
Think you need to start charging more for that type of repair lol! Very involved process and complete concentration! Great job !

Nice job mate looks like your all over this one it's not as scary as I thought it was going to be big thumbs up
Yeah I think they try to scare you with fancy names so no one will work on them, thanks.

Yes their own ivt only has 3 Ranges.
Great vid, there is a company over here in England who sell reman boxes and sell all the parts to repair these now.
Excellent video keep up the good work.
James Farrelly Thank you very much.
Great vid man keep them comming
Thankyou

Who the hell has the ability, to design something like that, amazing ..

I v got a problem with a 7320. Good forward gears. No reverse at all. Put shifter in reverse and it beeps and indicator light on dash blinks
with the hydro unit the clutch packs never have to slip.
Looks like ya pulled a keg out of that thing lol
Hi! I'm really enjoying this rebuilt series. If you need something translated just let me know, I'm German. ;-)
I might take you up on that.

how do these transmissions work with the clutch packs and hydro unit
Where do you get parts for the ivt transmissions i work for a deere dealer and obviously we arent allowed to order parts

Man U need to get some led lighting up in that work shop dude do it for your self
Yeah, me and the wife were talking about that very thing, waiting on a bunch of money that is billed out so we can do it.

Hello. where did you get the repair manual from?
I’m Looking at 7520 with an IVT. Are these tractors with IVT’s something to stay away from or are they a good transmission?
I don't know but this one has 18,000 hours on it . 🤷🏻♂️
That bad bearing didn't help anything - but it wasn't disintegrated yet
German build good types of equipment.
How much is that clutch pack
Any idea why the 5075 e loses breaks in 2wd

so you find a dealer that sell parts fore the gearbox??
+deere72 yes sir, I did.
via denmark or you find a dealer in us ? would be nice to know ca prize fore your rebuild .
good work and nice videos i look forward fore every one you put out
deere72 Yes, via the dealer email you gave me, thanks a bunch.
Where did you get parts for it from? If you don't mind me asking.
@@westerntruckandtractorrepa1353Can you please say wher you det the part i have a 6620 in my shop that slip the revers clutch
warren, put the camera back on a tripod,,,, I'm getting dizzy
C est des réparations très chère
There is some German screaming at you 9-9 no that's not how you take it apart. Great video.
Ben Bruner Yeah, your probably right . Lol!
20000 hours and just one bearing....on a tractor......!!!!
Hi is that a zf unit.
yes its zf trans build in germany
maybe chinese bearing
Hi, why don't you clean the outside of the transmission first?
+mofert2009 because it's alot easier to manage empty. It'll get cleaned before it goes together.
I think the shaft with the dameged bearing is for reversing!
+mofert2009 No , the only purpose is for ouput speed sense. I looked up the zf nomenclature and it calls it the ouptput speed sense shaft.

Coulda steam cleaned it before stripping.......
maybe you can find a kid to power wash things before you work on them..
