    Paris Island, SC help cure a lot of my son’s issues. Amazing what 100* heat, a screaming DI, and sand fleas will do for a young fella😆

    It’s 10:45 PM, the cat and the dog are settled in right next to me in bed and I am watching a grumpy guy working on tractors and stuff. Wouldn’t have it any other way. :) keep at it Warren.
    All of Warrens’ projects are like Chinese puzzle boxes and he takes us along with him as he solves every one.

    when i had a forklift to work on. i had a pallet that i added deck screws to the top and bottom so it could not separate. i used a layer of 3/4 plywood also deck screwed to the pallet and a layer of sheet metal over that pounded down and screwed around the edge.. i had some tapered boards cut so i could pound them in to lock the pallet on the forklift forks.. locking the pallet in place tightly. this gave me a perfect work bench to work and spin things around on.. stored against the wall when not in use.. stacked on more pallets when i needed to work on it at sitting or standing level. cost.. not a lot. back saver.. YEP.

    Thanks for the video. It brought back memories when I was John Deere service tech. That was back in the days when we actually fixed things.

    Very informative. Not that I will ever do that...I like to see good craftsmanship at work. Also, you are so right; younguns today has no idea what good skilled work is and how valuable it is. Keep going - we all enjoy it.

    Another good one, On the JD tractors with two set screws I’ve seen the holes offset in the rail so if you tighten the back screw it pulls the shifter fork towards that screw kind of a fine toon for the syncro

    A college education is good but it helps to have a backup skill in one of the trades. That way you always have something to fall back on that is not affected as much by a poor economy. that and a good work ethic will be attractive to any potential employer.

    If the synchro and gear are good and just the taper is worn (no more braking) i just laser weld a taper on the gear and grind it to dimension to fit the brass part.

    Hello Warren, I have enjoyed the video and it is really impressive how complex things are made simple. I am doing work on a 310d too, I am changing bearings and seals on the rear axles and therefore I have a great doubt and maybe you can help me. Now I am assembling each side separately and I need to know how many pounds of torque to give to the center bolt that holds the planet pinion carrier with the axle. In the diagram it is part # 12. Hopefully you can give me a hand, I'm in Chile, South America, here the parts are very scarce and expensive but I'm trying to keep this great machine alive. regards

    why don't you lift your trans off the ground with the forks so you don't have to bend over and work on the floor ? thanks for showing your video , great job.

    On the topic of kids not workin these days im not disagreeing with you. Theres plenty if lazy kids out there today. But at the same time its also not as easy to find a job in the trades without some kind of formal education. A lot of these companys arent willing to hire kids interested in the trades with limited or no experience. Just subscribed loving these videos.

    • @westerntruckandtractorrepa1353
      @westerntruckandtractorrepa1353  Před 6 lety +2

      Alex Mckie I love that impact wrench. I don't have to listen to a compressor run, or drag a air hose around and it has alot of power.

    7:10 that's just annoying. How hard would it have been for them to make clearance between those two parts? With everything out it's no big deal but that'd be a lot more irritating if you were trying to pull the axle side with it in the tractor.

    • @westerntruckandtractorrepa1353

      Do R/C! I think the one engineer that designed the axle didn't talk to the one who designed the park brake shaft until afterwards .
