This is why we can’t have nice things: “Please don’t preach that environment shit. Save the environment. Man, everything goes back to natural anyway, it doesn’t matter what we do.”
Yes, it eliminated the noise, but not the vibration. The vibration was due to a bent trans. output shaft. Video coming soon on a 4R100 teardown and rebuild after trans. shop rebuild.
@@shadetreeautomotiveenthusi1284 wow, your attention to detail when checking the bearings and especially the race was next level. It's crazy how a tiny misalignment in the race can cause such a big problem.
czcams.com/video/hOZuOB2CvfY/video.html All the info you need for fitment is here. My rims in the video are Black Rock from Summit (Or you can go with Cragar if you want chrome). The center caps are Cragar center caps with Ford's raised logo 3D decals. There's only two ways to get Cragar center caps to fit.... Take an 1/8th inch off the hub bolts like I did, or buy the ridiculously longer center caps. One more option is if you're going with a black rim, go with a '97 Aftermarket Dodge center cap for a Full floating 3500 B-Series van. But you need Dodge's lug nuts to hold the center cap (Junkyard for the lug nuts, they're expensive).
Correct, but we did it anyway, carefully. We learned a valuable lesson... Buy the tool. If you can't afford the tool, be careful. Seat the race evenly and fully.
Is the rear bearing job part of Ford econoline's scheduled maintenance at 150k mi? I know the front bearing job is. Or only check rear if you notice a problem/hear a sound?
Probably the last thing you said. I bought mine second hand and it was hauling heavy loads. But it should be able to go 300,000 with no problems. My concern was the slight rim wobble that kept aggravating me out the side view mirror. I was also concerned with some uneven body repair I noticed in the past, like it had a small side impact. Since this video, I've remove the rear end completely and replace it with a Dana 70-2U out of an Ambulance.
You need at least a 4 3/4 inch deep center cap to clear the hubs, unless you get snap on center caps. On one truck, I have '97 Dodge center caps with a Ford logo (Dodge Lugs are required for the snap on center caps). That year of Dodge and Ford are interchangeable for 8 lug, specifically the 8x6.5 pattern. In fact, Econolines used the same lug pattern since the beginning of the 250 and 350, even the cutaways.

put the race in a freezer for 1 to 2 hrs. then drop it in to the spot.
Thanks for another great video. Good detail and explanation
Sand or grind the outter diameter of the old race before using it as a bearing driver and it won't stick.
That's good advice, I do that on my rear end rebuilds. Hadn't done it yet on the rear bearing extra races I have. Thanks...
o no, screw driver and hammer wrench bypass trick again.
How did you take the old race out?
WOW
What size is the inner bearing?
Did changing the races and sitting them flush eliminate the rear-end noise?

What brand of mag do you have? I'm trying to find one to fit on my full floating axle e350!

You should not use a hammer to get the bearing adjuster out, you damage the 2 parts that mesh together. They have a special spindle tool for that.

Noise on my ‘03 e350 SD rear bearings also at 170K fyi. Thanks for making the vid 👍
Hey, do you know of any aftermarket wheels that would fit on this rear without having to shave any of the bolts?
I'm rocking Black Rock Rims from Summit, and before that, Cragar Rims using acorn style lugs.

That's why my front tires stick out more than my back tires
Just so you know, Autozone sells national bearings. I wouldn’t buy the duralast ones either
Is that a Dana 60 rear end? What year is it?
A 1999 Econoline. Yes it is the Dana 60 with the 4.10/4.11 gears.
Yeah! Pour some of that shit in your drink and see how everything goes back to the environment sooner than you think
The video is educational but the vulgarity should be put aside .
That seal was gone dude. If it was good, you would of had Hella trouble getting the hub off. Not going to be pulling that off like butta. 🧈
Just took one off and it was a fn PITA no chance it was coming off clean like this vid 🤷♂️
