Me: “I’ve never heard of this one, seems interesting.”
Drunk: “Titus...”
Me: “I’m good.”
Lmao, "a fat guy running down the basement stairs!" perfect description!
Love how you actually researched older magazines!
Somebody should make a website dedicated to bland British platformers.
Bland euro platformers in general. Like Daze Before Christmas.
Titus Is a french company
Honest question: was a single good (i.e. still holds up today) platformer developed outside Japan prior to Rayman?

Call it "The BBP"
Thank you again! This is the 2nd time that you have highlighted a game that I saw back in a magazine around 96/97, and always wanted to play, but could never remember what it was called!
Dude! We were so desperate for games, we even played the cd-roms attached to cereal boxes!
Some of those were pretty good, like Chex Quest
I kept trying to play this one game I got all the time for free... AOL v9.0, but it never played in my PS1
Did anyone notice that the “bomb thing” weapon’s projectiles were just mini sprites of your character?
My parents actually bought me this game when I was 9-10 years old, back in 96-97. And that was not worth playing it at that time.
The bizarre thing is that the main character and most of the backgrounds and enemies are kinda cute, but then there are those platforms made of skulls.
One of the weapons looks like you are throwing little versions of yourself. Mini-me projectiles.
This game is tricky, but enjoyable.
As always, your commentary is priceless! 💯
I'm going all in for collecting and playing games in Super Famicom and your channel has been a goldmine for discovering games! Most recent purchase is Super Off Road The Baja
Thanks for introducing me to something new today. I definitely won't be looking too hard for this game!
The art style looks somewhat similar to Mickey's magical quest, especially the backgrounds.
Edit: Can you review the snes Porky Pig's haunted holiday? I remember playing it when I was a kid and it was somewhat fun, a little confusing in the level layout at times. But the art style was decent.
That little trill in the intro was great, as was the video like usual
I was just re-reading an old game magazine (Nintendo Magazine System / NMS) and came across a review of this game, in the same issue as DKC3. I could't remember a thing about it and now this video shows up in my time line.
Magical Pop'n does what this game tries to do, way better
BlueTravesty You come at the Pop’n, you best not miss
Had this game on a "6 in 1" catridge, oh the memories...
Backgrounds, sound effects, music and sprites remind me of prehistorik man
I played this game as a kid but I had forgotten its name and I've been trying to remember it for ages. Thanks for the video.
Even though this game is terrible, you found a way to not completely bash it. I can appreciate that, there’s too much negativity in gaming these days!
Calling a bad game bad is being negative? That's called having an opinion.
@@pvsweetypie your argument should have been that there isn't too much negativity, not that negative opinions aren't negative because they're opinions. That doesn't even make sense.
@@pvsweetypie I think you misunderstood mega man a little bit. Snesdrunk did indeed say the game was bad, but he said it in an entertaining and constructive way.
You know what snes drunk? I will have a great rest of my day.
3:07 kinda hits hard for devs who release mediocre stuff. With so many people complaining about "lack of game preservation" while they usually mean "only good games should be preserved"
idk what you are crying about. Not only can I guarantee you this game is preserved regardless not only in complete SNES library collections, but with ROMS and scanned manuals on the internet because people do want to preserve all there is from this system, but even if it wasn't, it's not really worth the effort anyway.
Since my childhood I always wondered about this game. Now i am a bit disappointed. Game seems like unfinished and unpolished.
As a child, I rented it frequently, I finished it after years, I remembered for months the end of the game, the worst ending in a videogame I played, I did not even play it for nostalgia, sorry my bad english
Same here. I often saw it in magazines and always wondered what it was like. It was way better in my imagination.
Tuncay D - It seems the art and controls are polished, but not so much the gameplay. It's lacking a lot of variety and complexity for an SNES game in '96.
Very informative 😋 Great Review Thank You!
Great video like always
From what I can ascertain, this is an upgraded version of Titus' earlier game "Super Cauldron" which appeared on home computers such as the Amstrad CPC, Amiga, Atari ST and DOS and were probably hoping to continue with the classic IP they acquired from Palace Software who produced the previous 2 Cauldron games on the C64, CPC and ZX Spectrum.

Great video, as usual! I have a mint copy of the game here. I'll check the manual for any useful information.
Yeah, the manual (of the PAL version) is like 4 pages per language... One curious bit I read though: "At the end of each level, you will find an evil boss waiting for you. However, to meet him you will have to bribe one of Necroman's guards with 5 ears of corn. You will find these ears of corn hidden in the 7 worlds."
@@Sebion1980 Oh, so the "golden feathers" are actually ears of corn? LOL that's great.
I haven't played it, but it looks pretty decent to me. If you've already repeatedly played all of the great and well known SNES platformers out there, I'd say this one is very much worth a go. It's something new after all(at least for the vast majority of us).
Great perspective!
You dont know how much i waited to see that game here
One of the few positives you have about this game is actually a huge selling point for me. I am trying to play more games with my four year old son on my Snes classic. Since plot or progression don't really matter as much as being able to actually play the game, I'm gonna have to try this with him. Congratulations on making such a bland lump seem appealing.
Cool Video!
What emulator are you using? The last time I tried playing this, it had issues with the foreground layers. Looks like it's now working fine.
the backgrounds are indeed beautiful
First of all I'd like to thank you for your great content as I found it thoroughly entertaining in the last two years, secondly I'd say it's a fairly average Euro platformer from the period, it took advantage of the Snes hardware graphically but sucked in terms of sound which is very common from a Titus made game, I bet if you had an Amiga 500 plus the megadrive and SNES growing up you would be right at home with this level of plandness 😂😂😂
Always wanted to go back to the old gaming magazines.... especially the old Gamefan mags......what site do you go to?!
archive.org
Tbh, this was one I loved about the 16 era. All the mascots that came and went.
Barrel - I follow you on Twitter and just thought I'd say hi.
I quite liked Titus' platformers, but maybe they were more popular on computers.
I suspect this game might be a reskin of "Super Cauldron", a game by Titus, from 1992, btw. Not the first time they would re-skin the main character, they did it for Titus The Fox/Les Aventures de Moktar in its french version. Maybe they just reused some tile assets, but it looks a lot like Super Cauldron to me. Also, Cauldron was only known on computers, so it would totally make sense to re-skin it for consoles.
Just finished this game!
The graphics/environments did look kinda cute-disappointed to hear that the music doesn’t fit the graphics as much. Thank you for your quick review of a platformer I’ve never heard about until now!
When I played this I managed to die at the same time as killing the boss in the underground skull level. Resulted in a locked game... awesome!
"Why does it sound like a fat guy running down the basement stairs?" 😂😂😂 I've never even heard of this game.
Ah another snes drunk fix. I'll have a shot to that..... And I dont even drink. 😲😁
Titus also did Superman 64 if you want to pour salt on the wounds.
Haha your jokes are so good! 'a fat guy walking down stairs or a child playing a kettle drum' made me laugh!
NintendoAge has a scan of the game's manual. It's as "glamorous" as you'd expect.

this channel is awesome
i LOVE this game!
The art style is reminicent of the previously unreleased (now found) snes game Nightmare Busters.
The art style reminds me of Nightmare Busters for some reason.
What snes games use the select button?
Dang I haven’t never seen that one!!
Is this the same engine as Super Back to the Future II?
Ahh, Titus, those purveyors of quality.
I wonder if this is an original game for the SNES or another amiga port. It doesn’t have the same bright color palette as the usual one.
Also Incantation sounds like a dark title for this shootery platform.
Funny, I was just playing this last week and quit after a big "Wtf!?" with the teleporting.
I had this game
Im still sad that it disappeared
Polished Turd: The Game.
This is one of the most mediocre at best games i've ever played. Its a shame because it does look decent art style wise
I'd like to see him do a video covering every NES and SNES game, that utilize the "Four Score"
Madkat Caruthers - What’s the “Four Score?”
It’s the 4 player adapter that the nes had back in the day.
This game looks fun
This game have a great soundtrack
I've always hated this game, well, ever since I put it on my SNES mini because I wanted to try it out seeing as it's so expensive. I feel bad for people who buy it thinking that it's going to be good because many expensive SNES games are pretty decent at worst. Anyways, nice job on the vid Drunk.
Well, at least I'll have a great rest of my day haha
Hahaha, a SNES drunk video with a strong opinion! None of this "I'm just some guy on the internet you decide"
of course it is!
Hello childhood
Reviewed well! Weird game though. Super Adventure island or Mickey's Magical Quest minus the fun equals Incantation. I'd still rather play this than Frantic Flea🤣. That truly is a horrible game. Great video!
Yo this is rad
This game was super cool. I loved it when I was a child. And the sondtrack is actually super cool aswell. The ending is lame but the experience was overall good.
It's one of those quote unquote RARE games you say? I thought you said Titus made it 😛😂😂😂😂😂
No sign that damage on the enemies but I'm still trying to beat this game through emulator
You could cover non-snes English Patched games.
SSSSSEEEEEEEEEEGA... DRUNK!!!!
Cool☃
Yeah, I listen to that band all the time. Never heard of the game, though.
It's ridiculous how this game has a combination of being rare, expensive, & lame all at once lol. I do enjoy all of your reviews though. Thank you 😅
Sick band
YES IT IS. One of the best. And every album rules
Seems fine enough i guess. Id have rented it back in the day.
The graphics looks pretty good though
I remember picking this up at Kmart for 14.99 new and looking at prices now what I wouldn't give for a time machine (game is decent btw says more Sega than it does SNES). 🍺
I found the manual.
Crono trigger LP please
Thanks SNES drunk
Wait... Were you shooting tiny, bouncing clones of yourself as a weapon?
You should really make a video about taekwondo its a seriously good snes fighting game
I’ve played this a bit and though it’s gorgeous is so annoying. By the third time I got teleported to who knows where for who know why, I quit.
this is not a bad game , yes its not perfect , but un general i liked the atmosphere and level designs
This looks like the kind of game you’d see on Nick Arcade.
That “great rest of your day” felt really forced this time. Are you sure you meant it?
Lol
This can actually be explained pretty easily: if I sound irritated or whatever during that part, it's because I know I've done a shitty job doing the read-through and it's going to be a lot of work to clean up in the edit
SNES drunk I was just teasing, I hope you have a great rest of your day too! It’s sort of your trademark now and in past videos people really hate when you don’t say it lol
Haha, just find a copy for $5, good gift for my two daughters 4-8.
I remember seeing this game previewed in a December 1996 issue of EGM where they did a special feature on the 16-bit systems not going down without one last good fight. I was immediately intrigued by it and spent the better part of the next decade wondering about it (and some of the other titles in that feature). Fast forward 10 years to 2006 and yeah... it was disappointing to say the least. I pretty much echo your sentiments, SNES drunk. It's a pretty nice looking game but yeah. Everything else is very forgettable.
As far as The Blues Brothers is concerned, I actually liked that one in a guilty pleasure sort of way. It has a funky 2 player mode that may not appeal to many people, but if you can sucker someone along for the ride it's not half bad...
This was an arcade game from the 1980s under another name.
The Magical Quest starring Mickey Mouse.
It looks like they took that game and altered it the art and animation is almost the same
Shovelware of the 90's?
Looks inspired by Rayman 1
Kinda looks like Do Re Mi Fantasy although that game seems way better than this
Yeah, Do-Re-Mi fantasy is actually really good
Do another hidden gems video for snes please!
A Damgaalien? I think a lot of those hidden gems have been mined...
Game looks so good it unfortunate that it doesn't live up to the aesthetic. The entire time I was watching this I was like, "Are those goblins invincible? I can't Imagine what the boss fight would be like." Like have them flash red or something so you know you hurt them. I mean this is basic SNES game development logic.
Well, at least it controls well enough, and you can´t say that about lots of other games from that era.
Nice artwork though...
one end of the wand looks like an butt
