Since nobody seems to have mentioned it: The ZIF (zero insertion force) socket the ribbon cable is connected by, has the locking mechanism briefly shown but not properly explained. To release the ribbon you pull out gently on BOTH sides of the locking mechanism (the darker tan part), which unlocks it. The cable can then be removed with nearly "Zero Force", and without damage. When reconnecting, this lock must be unlocked as well, and should require again zero insertion force to put it back in. The trick is when putting the ribbon back in it often will push the locking arm back in part way if you're not careful (it's an easy mistake to make) so it helps to hold out on the lock gently while sliding the ribbon cable back in. Then simply push the lock closed again. Hope this helps all the people who were having trouble reassembling.

to put it back together, you need to disassemble the front part of the Xbox, because the front cover where the buttons are located is connected to the top panel which has the fan, so you need to disconnect those two panels and connect them back to the main frame as 2 different pieces
This was a great, thorough tutorial. I had to come rewatch the process bc I recently became paranoid to turn my Xbox on after I put it back together a while back, and I haven’t used it since, so I forgot whether or not it needed thermal paste. I just did a basic dusting of every part to make sure it was good, but I did a PS4 afterward and that required me to replace some thermal paste, bc I mainly needed to look at the motherboard itself, so I wanted to make sure I wouldn’t blow my Xbox up. 😂 but I think I’m good now, thanks to this video.

I've used the heat gun method on these without failure, i use a small electric heat gun and a sharp very small screwdriver to start one edge, then i heat it again and use tweezers to carefully pull the sticker off once an ENTIRE short edge has been lifted. They are cut in the corners so it will part slightly at the corner when youre lifting it but as long as you dont allow it to continue and you get a whole short edge off then it comes off fairly easy. The 360 one however is much easier to remove.

If you're having trouble with reassembly (like I was for 20 minutes). Try to separate the top plastic from the front plate plastic. 1) The top plate clips in flawlessly followed by the front plate plastic 2) You'll have a MUCH easier time connecting the ribbon cable as the top plastic won't be in your way and can you connect the ribbon cable with EASE.

Thanks for the video , it was very helpful my dad and I only took it party apart so we can clean it out , Vogel was very helpful
But reassemble was tricky
Cleaning mine after about 8 years
Zor oldu mu ya ben acayip tırsıyorum bozucam diye ama uçak pervanesi gibi çalışıyor artık :(
why open an xbox one ? can you make a tutorial How to install LED ?
To clean it from collected dust in some cases
I've used the heat gun method on these without failure, i use a small electric heat gun and a sharp very small screwdriver to start one edge, then i heat it again and use tweezers to carefully pull the sticker off once an ENTIRE short edge has been lifted. They are cut in the corners so it will part slightly at the corner when youre lifting it but as long as you dont allow it to continue and you get a whole short edge off then it comes off fairly easy. The 360 one however is much easier to remove.
I did half of it because I was afraid it’s fine. Put it back in it won’t work I’m glad I saw this because I was having problems with overheating. I have a fun I thought it will work but I got to clean it so I follow your instructions and clean the parts that had dust in it I even had to use a vacuum thing to clean I saw it from someone and glad I’m learning something new I just hope it never turn off again with overheating it help me a lot even tho I left a lil gap on the bottom idk if it smart that can get much air and all I just hope it and see how it goes I thank you so much specially that sticker on the side I didn’t know that glad I hear it and put it back thank god I got it threw it it kept turning me off bc of hearing I pray it never happen again thanks for this 🙏🏾💯

Nicely done and very clear. Allowed me to get the case off no problems. From there I was good...case was the item for me. Good job.
Thanks so much dude. My xbox would be at a million degrees right after booting before even launching a game but i learned how to clean it and now its cool as ever.

Thank you so much dude this actually helped out a lot with cleaning my Xbox it was just a huge pile of dust inside of it and your video helped me clean it and make it so my Xbox can function properly without overheating severely
Thanks for the good instructions, just opening mine to see if i can figure out what is causing it to go off in one second,(not a power supply problem),hopefully it's a dust problem, but, going to see if i can see anything that jumps out at me also, the side is missing on mine when i got it so,one less thing to do
These videos are really helpful! Keep it up! :D
i watched the whole video and left a like and i don't even own an xbox one just knew you did great effort there or maybe went through some trouble much appreciated
Thank you for the video. Just got mine tore down and cleaning it out. Perfect instructions! 👍🏻💪🏻

+xXModdedWarfareXx Jtag Tutorials #36 How to Install Black Ops 2 Mod Menu's
I did everything right and i got a black screen when i open the BO2 on XEX menu
Hey I'm having problems with waw when I load it up it don't work the screen goes black when I set it up with default mp.xex :(
For the front ribbon display cable I found it easier to put the console at the edge of the table and look underneath the cover you see every thing better
I got my xbox on opening day, and have never cleaned it till now. Thank you for your help.
How did you put the top cover back on
This says how to take apart‘your’ Xbox one, but I need to take my friends apart, but I can’t find a tutorial for it, help?
lol
how to do you put it back
PG Savage same thing, but in reverse
Shell just snaps together
put the video on reverse and then boom
Hardest part is getting the blue touch strip back in
thank you man, this was really easy to follow, and well explained. thank you
The blue ribbon was not an issue at all. I had a terrible time trying to get the front to clip back together after I was done. Oh and I used a razor blade for the warranty sticker. Worked wonderfully. Gotta use the double sided shaving razor because it’s thin and flexible, so be careful pls!
U could have showed us how to put it back together
Getting that ribbon cable reconnected was a real bitch, but I finally got it.
HOW TF DO YOU RECLOSE THIS?! SHITS A PAIN
Ikr
It just doesn't work
UPDATEEEEE: REMOVE FRONT PANEL FROM TOP, PUT ON FRONT PANEL THEN PUT ON TOP!!! DO NOT REMOVE RIBBON- UNNECESSARY!! HOPE IT HELPS!!!
@@shaneeshleman4233 ^^
Yes I found another video that showed that, although I found it easier to put the top on then the front panel
Ok. 1st, great video! Awesome DIY video. Word of caution if your like me and never done this. That wifi/bluetooth wire that "pops off" comes directly out and away from the green board. Be very careful because if the wire comes out of that end pice you will have a hell of a time getting it back on. I'm still trying to get it back together.
ive always vaccuumed kept my day one clean n have gone thru 2 power supplies currently using a 360 power supply as the 3rd but still finally now 2024 it needs to be opened up. thanks for the video
How do I rettach the ribbion cable?!
The Fab Duckling you can't
Tweezers
R.I.P
super helpfull, thank you
Thanks a bunch mate. Owning a gaming pc I know full well what kinda unholy gack builds up in there and the fact they make it so awkward to clean for the Xbox really gets on my wick.
I dropped this brick about a foot a while ago. It unhinged all the clips and now I realize it almost ripped the ribbon cable. But all these parts broke open, so I pushed em back together. Works ok, but I'm gonna clean now! Thank you good video
If you're having trouble with reassembly (like I was for 20 minutes). Try to separate the top plastic from the front plate plastic.
1) The top plate clips in flawlessly followed by the front plate plastic
2) You'll have a MUCH easier time connecting the ribbon cable as the top plastic won't be in your way and can you connect the ribbon cable with EASE.
Can't wait till when there's a way to jtag a xbox one :)
+XxgamesHDxX there is its been out for so long now lmao
GBearGaming lol are you dumb?
GBearGaming nope, not even now
I recommend you take the front cover apart from the top cover when you have to plug that thin ribbon cable back in. It's a huge pain if you don't
Thanks, I'm cleaning my console for the first time, it's been serving me well for 7+ years now and it's just to noisy now, even in standby
