    What a difference. Six years and the style has changed so much I can't believe it is the same guy doing the repairs today. Now I know I have to get a new optical drive because mine has no sprocketsnor gears in working order, even if my laser still works. Swapping time, here we go!

    i struggled way too long to get the upper case back on (last step). recommendation: as soon as the upper case is removed, separate it into two plates (top and front). MUCH easier to restore top face, then ribbon, then front face.

    I just wanted to say THANK YOU so much for making such a detailed video of this! My laser was not broken, but my 2 year old had shoved a dead leaf into the disc drive and there was a stick that was stuck in it making it no longer play any discs. I followed your instructions to the letter and was able to open it up and thoroughly clean the disc injection area (of which I had to take that black piece off the front of the drive to get to all the small leaf pieces) as well as leaf parts in the disc seating area. I put everything back together and now we can play our favorite shows and video games again. Thanks again!

    The Xbox One Advanced Warfare Limited Edition is my longest owned Xbox One. I stood in line outside for 6 hours at Gamestop in the freezing cold for my preorder of this console. I don't know how. But I still have this Xbox One and it has not once giving me any issues whatsoever. I have taken good care of it and have kept it clean. I use a vacuum cleaner and suck out all the dust from the vents regularly to prevent major dust from getting deep inside the console. I haven't even broken the warranty sticker even though its way out of warranty. When the S came out I was going to upgrade. But ended up waiting. Then the X came out and I mistaken it for the next gen Xbox and made my purchase. I was going to sell my old Xbox One. But im so glad that I didn't. As now after all my bad luck after owning several brand new XB1X systems. That all seem to come faulty. The Advanced Warfare Xbox One limited edition will always remain my back up. So I can keep on gaming.

    This procedure worked for me! Great job!!
    Notes: 1) make sure you take out game disc from CD drive, mine wouldn't restart until I removed!
    2) that flat cable to the front panel is a real trick: my connector also had a small lock to undo, besides the loop around the connector. I put mine on the edge of a table so I could look up while connecting, this is suggested in the video, but it does help! I used flashlights to help see too! This might be trickiest part of the surgery!!
    3) inside the DVD drive, there is a small black square thats actually a microswitch... I couldn't get control PC board in until I got this swith to ride on top of a white bar that must related to having the CD in...
    Thank you!!

    When reassembling the case just un clip the face plate where the ribbon cable is. That way you can just snap on the top of the case. Then that makes it MUCH easier to install the ribbon cable and then just align the bottom clips of the front face plate and press in the top part and boom. Hope this comment helps at least one person having trouble with reassembling. Because ik I had a hell of a time.

    Thought something was wrong because I would hit the eject on the new drive I installed and the trey would not eject. It has been so long I had used the disc drive I forgot it did not have a trey. So, ordered a new drive on amazon for $30, pulled the board from the old drive to the new one, 3 screws, 3 ribbons, and a simple solder of 2 wires, put her in, and works great. While I was in there I went ahead and pulled the heat sink off, cleaned it, and the fan up nicely. Removed the old thermal paste and applied some new thermal paste, might as well while you have it open, the old paste was pretty crusty. The Xbox one had a damaged non-working disc drive and the hard drive had just recently failed so it was a non-working Xbox one. I ordered a 1TB SSD to replace the old HDD, also this new disc drive. Installed the Xbox software update via thumb drive and now this old Xbox one is a brand new beast. Once I get all the games installed back on it I will be interested to see how its load times hold up to or surpass those of our Xbox one x. Thanks for the tutorial, I was worried a disc drive replacement would require getting it flashed or something. But just swapping the boards did the trick.

    Keep in mind to make sure all ribbon cables are fully seated and locked into place. It any of them are loose there will be power issues S it won't run right. I just replaced the BR disc tray and didn't have the front power and eject ribbon cable fully seated which made the Xbox randomly turn on and off. It's quite annoying. After I replaced the disc drive it's like a brand new Xbox. Highly recommend doing thi yourself rather than sending it into Microsoft. Even more so if the Xbox is out of warranty and it doesn't matter if you break the seal or not.

    Ive had it apart twice and got it to work long enough to install a 2 disc game, but it didnt work after putting it back in the drive case. Seeing as I dont know what to look for its just luck when a disc reads. I think its the laser as it doesnt seem to light up, just spins the disc twice moves a little back then to the middle and does no more.
    Not sure if I need a new laser or deck or entire drive, but Id prefer not to solder anything if I dont have to.

    I have one question, so I have the same exact model of Xbox one you have shown in your video. Even down to the advanced warfare collectors edition. However, when I boot it up, it seems to have a different screen compared to yours, did they make a refurbished variant?
    Another question is, where can you order new disc drives for the Xbox one?

      Ebay. And they probably did an update since this video which is why it looks different

    I have a issue were my Halo 5 disc, reads as install, I hit ok. Then it comes up as a error code "This xbox360 game is not backwards compatible." Mind you the game all 97g is installed on a 4tb external drive. I also picked up Alien Isolation. That is taking forever to install. Two hours so far for 2g out of 23g.
    All other games that are installed work with no issues. Movies work with no issues.
    Any thoughts? Or is the laser shot?

    My drive (from Xbox One S) works fine except the sliding bar that pushes the slot closed and activated the disc won’t fully pass through the gear assembly. If you gently pull or push on one of the plastic sliding tabs and “help” it along it works. But obviously can’t do that all the time. Any ideas?

      Thanks, I guess I missed it because I didn't click "show more." Great video, thank you so much. Mine won't spin discs and it seems that replacing the laser carrier piece you did in this video is the fix I need on mine. I will give it a shot and if it doesn't work you should be receiving my XB1 in the mail soon! Thank you again.
      **Edit: I checked the link for the laser, it looked in the video like the laser was attached to another panel that had the carrier and ribbon cables and other stuff on it. I think my problem is the spinner motor itself, would you happen to have a link for that?

      That depends on how quickly you ship it here and which repair speed you choose at checkout. We offer a one business day repair + 4-5 days for return shipping or you can pay to have it shipped faster. You can choose that at checkout.

    Where can I get the lens plus carrier like you used. My daughter decided to jam three discs in at once (yes they fit, sorta). Its making a horrible clicking/grinding noise now. I would assume a gear or something is broken but all I can find online is just the laser part. I don't feel comfortable replacing the whole drive if soldering is involved.

    • @Tronicsfix
      @Tronicsfix  Před 7 lety

      You should be able to find them on Ebay, Amazon, etc. You can always send it in if you need to: www.tronicsfix.com/store/p47/Xbox_One_Disc_Drive_Repair.html

    • @cowboy8038
      @cowboy8038 Před 7 lety

      Well I do want to say thank you, I was able to find the part on ebay and using your video able to pull it apart. (At which point I found out in addition to the three games I pulled out there was a fourth loaded in the drive plus two pennies :( ) I was able to get it back together and it powers on and everything works fine so at least I didn't make it worse. However on first boot everything was very quiet but when I first tried to load a disc it would not grab it at all. I finally gave it a little more pressure then I would normally and it finally grabbed it. I tired ejecting it immediately which it does do but it does get hung up a bit. I tired inserting it again and this time it worked normally, however the ejecting still hangs like its struggling or something. Once the disc is in its still making noise (almost different each time) sometimes whirling, sometimes humming sometimes grinding and unfortunately it still failing to read any discs. As far as I can tell I did everything right so I don't think it's the carriage/lens assembly. I'm assuming something else in the drive must also be broken, thinking I may be sending it you guys to get a new drive installed. Two questions will the xbox run without a drive installed at all? (I'm guessing no) 2. Since at this point I know how to disassemble everything would it save me any money to just send you guys the drive to re-solder the old board to the new drive and send me back the new drive?

    • @Tronicsfix
      @Tronicsfix  Před 7 lety

      1) I'm not sure if it would run without the disc drive.
      2) We only do the full repair. We don't do partial repairs...sorry about that.
