This was nice case.I had this same preoblem in my xbox x. Lot of work, especially with finding daughter bord problem.
Thanks so much for this upload. Had exactly the same issue & fixed it myself. Although I did damage the right hand trace on the mofset but disks still load & run perfectly without.
I wish I had your level of knowledge! I'm learning all the time, so these videos are going to be great to help me! Thank you for making them. Steve :)
To be honest I don't think I have that much knowledge, but thank you I do my best to try and teach people what I do know
@@TheCod3r You definitely have more than me, but thats not difficult 🤣
@@TheCod3r Shouldn't put yourself down, you're really good mate. I lurk occasionally and watch your repair videos, Have you got any background in this field other than learning as a sort of hobby?, If i'm not mistaken i believe you fix things and earn a commission on what you fix, I know you had a bit of a struggle with work prior to all of this. Motivating stuff mate.
I also came from MMV, and got so say this is a brill channel mate. I'll defo be giving a sub.
Thank you buddy much appreciated 😃
Great channel. That's MMV for the recommendation.
Thank you bud much appreciated
Long video but it was entertaining I watched the whole thing keep.doing wat u doing man
Yeah sorry I couldn't get it down any shorter but thank you, I really appreciate it 😁
Hello, came from My Mate Vince.
Hey thanks for the support bud 😃
Good Vid keep up the good work fella
Cheers mate much appreciated 👍
Great video! Too bad I saw it late, it would have saved me many hours.
I didn't have +12v on the drive because the MOSFET 7403 was blown. The fault was a disc reader shorted.
The SMD capacitorC200 of the disk reader was shorted!
mine was c217 and mosfet has a hole in it :) im waiting for new one now. hopefully that will fix it
Great job I have no disc feed but all the right voltages are there :( even tried another disc drive with different daughter board still no disc feed. Do you think its still worth replacing mosfet thanks in advance
Boy, it’s been two years but I’d be curious to see 12v injected with a thermal cam on this one to find the short. Shorted enough to pop the mosfet I’d think it’d show up pretty well on thermal. Think I might have a similar issue on one I bought off eBay but haven’t tried to power up the console yet. Received it with an extra blueray drive so something was a problem with that area I’m guessing.
Another great video
Thanks bro
Give thanx to Mymatevince, he recommended your channel so I've subbed, I love watching how to and repair videos.
Yeah I can't thank him enough to be honest he's helped me a tonne by recommending my channel. Thanks for subbing, really appreciated 😄
Did you ever find out if the motor controllers were the same? I have just swapped an ARM IC from one board to another, but never noticed the different numbers on the motor controller. The original daughter board was a 64T and the new is a 74T. I'm trying to fix an E100 error... the drive accepts and spins a disc as is but obviously I have no idea if its working as I am stuck in an update loop due to the E100.
Hello i have a xbox one s not turning on no power tryed a good power board still nothing tryed a good power supply still nothing check 12 volt rail for short no short found any ideas were i can go from here ? Thanks
Finally sorted pal well done 👍
I have a Xbox one x that constantly keeps throwing E100 tried new hard drive still same stops update at around 60 odd percent
58%-62% would be a disc drive issue mate, try replacing the disc drive but you'll need to swap the daughter board over. If that doesn't work it could indicate an issue with the daughter board
TheCod3r
thanks pal I’ll give it a go 👍
@@sj55 no probs mate hope you get it sorted. I may try and do a video using the daughter board from this console to diagnose what actually went wrong with the daughter board
@@TheCod3r
I'll look forward to that one mate 👍
I am working on an Xbox one x and it does not have SMD capacitors C39 or C44. Do you know the values for them?
***TIP***
Fastest way to check for a short is to ground one probe to the PCB or circuits ground and then with the other probe check to see if any of the the voltage inputs are shorted to ground, if a short exists follow the shorted out Pin or PCB Track leading to any IC's to which you then simply run the probe along the pins of all IC's pins make sure your other probe lead is securely grounded.
If a pin indicates a short "beep" a quick check of capacitors around that pin usually should also also test as shorted "beep both sides", remove it and check the shorted IC pin again, if short "beep" is removed it was the capacitor, if not remove other capacitors seemingly shorted, and if short still persists then the IC is definitely faulty because obviously both leads of a capacitor are never connected to the same track thus giving you a beep on both leads
Thanks, I think I did check by dragging along the ic on the daughter board arm chip, can't remember if I put it in the video because of the length though 😅 definitely some good tips there though, with fets I always like to check in diode mode but ohms or beep mode work just as good sometimes
@@TheCod3r yes you did.
How common is the cable the issue?
I replaced my old disc drive installing the old sister board and all and still dead. All to notice my Misfit was blown all along thanks to your knowledge in this video. Guess I'm stuffed cos I can't fix that..
If you have a cheap heat gun you could replace a mosfet yourself, but if you know which component is blown you may be able to get a local technician to look at it for you. My typical repair cost is around £40 if you live in the UK
@@TheCod3r thanks mate, I'll try do what I can with what I have but I'm pretty sure my sister chip needs to be extracted to a working sisterboard so that a little annoying as I threw out a working one thinking there was no other fix.this was early back in August so unfortunately your video wasn't out sooner haha. You've given me hope as I hate seeing my Xbox Scorpio edition in such a sorry state currently in pieces untill I get my hands on another sister board. I originally opened my Xbox up to change the CPU putty which worked great, unfortunately though while doing the clean a shelf crashed down on my disc drive so you can see how I thought it may be a simple fix initially.. cheers for the great advice you made a new fan 👌👌
@@Chrisjfortune2790 you're welcome bud, I will hopefully have covered pretty much every known problem by now so hopefully they're there to help in future. Best of luck I hope you get it going :)
Any advice on a Xbox one X powering up for 10 seconds then shuts down
Please
my disc drive not working and im only getting 11.60v and not 12v would u know why
I'm running into a similar issue however I seem to be missing the 3.3v on pin 4
i have the same and im getting 11.60v where it should be 12v and pin 4 no voltage
Vince brought me too. He's good people to associate with. Me, not so much. :D
Haha we all have our qwerks bud, but yeah vince is amazing he's given me a huge boost 😄
do you sell the repairs consoles?
Only when they're my own, most the consoles I fix are customer jobs but I do have some myself occasionally
Vince sent me. Subbed 👍
Thank you buddy really appreciated
@@TheCod3r no worries, I'm looking forward to catching up on your content.
@@MattyEngland thanks i hope you enjoy it, I try to post at least once a week but they have to be fairly interesting repairs to try and keep content unique 😀
You been into a fight with some scissors and your jeans lost haha
Haha yep, the scissors were on edge the whole time though 🤣
@@TheCod3r 😂🤣😂🤣
Can you upload a partial power on the xbox one x, please.
I can but only when I get one in for repair. Hopefully I'll get one in but I can't guarantee what comes into the workshop unfortunately
An xbox one x partial power could be caused by a bad retimer though, you may want to try and replace the retimer ic and see if that fixes the problem
you should have applied external 12V power supply and observe what heats up...
You really only get one shot with these though, applying external power could've destroyed the arm chip and there's no going back from that. I do sometimes use external power but in this case it isn't worth the chance
Came from my mate vince
Thank you for the support bud really appreciate it 😃
TheCod3r np
Why there’s no video showing a Xbox One X no power like no one can fix them how you fix one yet?
No Power on an xbox one x is usually either the power supply or a problem with the retimer chip. Unfortunately I can only make videos when I get them in as a repair job but when I do I'll make a video:)
@@TheCod3r i have one partial power turns on and turns off but there no short on retimer chip should I try replace it anyway
@@graphicscardtech3167 it's definitely worth a try, retimer chips are cheap and quite easy to replace, but a beep on beep off error is different to no power and is normally caused by missing power rails, faulty ram or faulty cpu unfortunately
hey i asked you for advice by email. will you write back please?
Sure I'll check my emails when I get back onto the computer
Thanks mate
