My dad once met Andre towards the end of Andre’s life. He was working for Orken and serviced Andre’s ranch in Ellerbe, NC. Dad said when Andre shook his hand it made my dad’s hand look like baby’s hand inside a catcher mitt.
My dad's friend worked security at an airport and met Andre. He said his hand was so big he put both hands together just to make one hand of Andre's.
"Back in those days me and Andre were coming up with all sorts of stuff. I remember one time Andre wanted to test a move on me where he jumped off the top rope and spinned 5 times in the air before landing on me. It hurt so bad I was hurt for 5 years. I finally went to the doctor years later and was told I now have 2 extra ribs in my lower foot brother."

Shortly after the match, he was contracted by Nasa to be a test pilot for the first Apollo missions, but he doesn't like to talk about that, brother.

Gonzalez was a legit 7'6". Andre was no taller than 6'10 at his"height".
@Rjensen2 Andre was 7'1" at his peak, later in life, one of the best ways to gauge his height is his altercation with Earthquake who reckons to be a legit 6'5", in that altercation when Andre stood up straight which he does he is quite a lot taller than Earthquake, I'd say 5 inches which would make him 6'11" the problem with trying find Andre's true height is he used to stoop quite a lot especially when older, which costs him an inch or 2 making him look shorter more of the time, it makes it difficult to gauge how tall he was but I think 6'11" older and 7'1" peak in the 70's also at WM3 with Hogan, Hogan was 6'5" legit but he wore lifts in his boots to make him more 6'7" and there's a good 4 inches between Hogan and Andre

@Rjensen2 John Tenta who played Earthquake used to be a sumo wrestler, I think they give accurate height and weight stats for it's wrestlers, John Tenta was listed at 6'5.5" and 420 lbs, at that time, what height difference do you think there is between Hogan and Andre at WM3

Don't forget that he said the WMIII match was a shoot, and that Andre really wanted to test Hogan to see if he was worthy to pass the torch to (like Hogan wasnt champ for years by then) and the loss upset Andre so bad he went home and died two weeks later.

Hogan giving Andre a different weight in the stories he tells about him reminds me of one of my all time favorite heel commentary performances which was Owen Hart at King Of The Ring 1996 in which Owen would mention Jake Roberts age and throughout the night, he would gradually increase the number until he claimed Jake was 90 years old and do it in a deadpan way.

@@Rjensen2problem with that pic is. Wilt is about 2-3 feet to tbe right of Andre and probably about a foot behind him. It appears wilt is about the same height or an inch or two taller. You can’t tell at those Angles though. My guess would be they are about the same. 7-1 7-2. Whatever Wilt was, I forget his height , too lazy to look it up. This was tbe early 80s too. Andre had probably lost at least an inch by then , and was already beginning to lean forward as he walked and stood.
