  • In this video, you'll learn how to clean your Platypus® QuickDraw™ Water Filter with the shake-to-clean and backflush techniques. Unlike other backpacking water filters in its class, the unique design of the QuickDraw allows it to be easily cleaned with two effective techniques without the need of extra tools and with several different types of clean bottles and reservoirs. With a QuickDraw system, you’ll spend less time waiting for clean water and more time exploring.

The quickest way to clean the QuickDraw is the shake-to-clean method. Simply shake your system with a half-full dirty bottle or reservoir attached to the filter’s dirty side to dislodge particulates stuck to the hollow fibers. A more thorough way to clean the QuickDraw is via backflushing. This involves inverting your system and flushing clean water through the hollow fiber bundle from the clean side to the dirty side to remove particulates clogging the filter. Any clean bottle or reservoir that is compatible with a QuickDraw system can be used to backflush it.
Many squeeze filters start fast but ultimately slow down and never recover their initial fast flow rates. Not the QuickDraw. We designed it to deliver the best user experience of any backpacking water filter, and that meant the ability to easily clean it and keep it flowing for a long time. Proactive use of both cleaning methods in tandem will optimize its performance and prolong its lifespan. Be sure to read the included instructions booklet so you adventure safely and stay hydrated!

I think there should be a better solution for (proper) backflushing than the use of a gasket. Losing the gasket was one of the biggest complaints about the most popular filter on the market so it's a shame to see this trait is also is shared with the Quickdraw.
Having a fully dedicated outlet cap system for connections is great though!

Not the same. With the sawyer if you lose the gasket which can happen every time you filter, you'll have trouble filtering. With the platy the gasket is useful only to backflush (which happens less often) and worst case you can still backflush with the drinkcap as shown in the video. Also the sawyer has no air vents when gravity filtering.
