Cool video. You did a great job. I worked at the Nylint plant for a couple years in the mid 90's. (lived just a few blocks away) They started me out with the ladies, hanging parts on the line going into the paint room. I was soon moved into the paint room. It was a messy, hot job. But I gained a bit of experience & talent in a field I never thought I'd be interested in. Thanks again for the video. :)

I liked this one. I even like the decal/stickers you made up. Color choice perfect... I call that Ford Blue. I did notice a couple of things, I think when you're doing this stuff, you should remove your watch and put it out of harm's way... overspray, water...chemicals, sanding grit... whatever. The other thing is when you were using a buffing wheel on the tires. Try using a standard toothpaste as a buffing compound. it's very mild, but does add a bit of grit, and lets the wheel spin better with the bit of creamy lubrication. Use an old standard toothpaste, Crest or Colgate or the like, not gels or whitening types. oh, you can use tooth paste like that and a large polishing machine to take those tiny little scratches out of wincshields, real windshields, those ones you only see covering your windshield when the sun is at just the right angle. Probably do wonders for salvageable plastic windshields too.

    • @oldshovel

Good tip on the primer and camera. Restoring is unforgiving at times with the camera, you can’t always do a second take... that and I’m still learning the camera thing 😁. Thanks for watching.

I usually like restorations like this but you kind of “half-assed” this one. Paint was rough, frame still seemed bent and you got a lot of white paint on the tires. I guess I look for restorations that I know I can’t do as well. But I’m positive my son could have pulled this one off. Sorry.

You spent time getting an okay paint job just to cover it with stickers. Perhaps after that you should coat the body and roof with lacquer to hide the edges of the stickers. plus you should paint match the rivets to the pieces of plastic.
