The Big Mistake 90% of Golfers Keep making with Driver - EASY TO FIX
VloĆŸit
- Äas pĆidĂĄn 7. 10. 2022
- This is why you might struggle to hit driver straight and longđ
1. Ball position is in the wrong place
2. Your forearms are not in line at set up - BIG ONE
3. Your posture is misaligned at set up
4. You don't control the club face in the correct way. (This can be a Power Leak too)
What's great is if you have any one of these faults in your golf swing they are really easy to fix and can make an instant impact on the quality of your ball striking not just with your Driver but with your irons too.
For example if you want to hit your driver straight just getting the forearms aligned at address will be a real eye opener for you.

ABOUT DANNY

Thanks for stopping by. I created this website as a resource just for you to support you on your golfing journey as I know how tricky learning this game can beâŠto say the least!
I personally found learning the game too long and difficult in the early days. I read all the books, watched all the videos but my game was not improving. Then after studying various forms of neuro science, motor learning, psychology and personal development in less than two years I went from struggling golfer to the final stage of the Open Championship.
On CZcams and my personal website (www.dannymaude.com) I will bring you the most up to date training, training that is getting tangible results for my clients right now. I donât know where you are in your golfing journey, you could be just starting out or maybe your body isnât as flexible as it once was or youâve got ambitions to slash your handicap. Wherever you are Iâve created a place here you can learn, share your ideas, ask questions and get all the support you need to enjoy this great game.
Be prepared though. If its a quick fix you are after Im not your man. Here I will give you step-by-step advice that you can take straight to the practice ground and apply to the course but it will require you to get stuck in, screw upâŠa lot, practice some more and then watch those scores tumble
Iâve had the pleasure of coaching thousands of students all around the world and if you are up for the challenge and are ready to get in the gameâŠLETS GO TO WORK!

and I hope to do all this with simple golf tips so you can create an effortless golf swing - Sport

Danny I received something from you that seems to have disappeared unless I dreamed it up. Did you send me a message?
@@davidkramer194 if it disappeared it was probably someone impersonating saying youâve won something. We are deleting all scam comments
I was all excited telling my wife that you were going to do a lesson with me but it looks like you retracted the message? I'm not camera shy at all as I am a senior recruiter at Amazon and so I would happily be in a video with you so you can help us from yoyo'ing back and forth between a hook and a slice. I cured my slice and now I'm hitting a duck hook. đ€Ș
@@DanielMaude awwe I was so excited. Yeah they were asking me to send direct message to you for my "free lesson". What a cruel cruel person to play on that. I saw another video today that gave me an epiphany moment that I've never had in golf. I'm so surprised that it wasn't you. because you're pretty much the only person I watch. My son clicked on a video on the way to the range and I think if you did a video showing this exercise you would do it even better. I don't know if I can send you the video through direct message, because I have been playing for 7 years, and this one single video made me play better than I've ever played in my life. I used the technique from that video, and the tiger pause drill, and driver coin drill. And even though I was dying in 100 degree weather I was still hitting better than ever.
The one last thing im struggling with is how tight to squeeze the club. I'm getting blisters on my fingers and I'm not sure if that's normal, or I'm squeezing too hard. I know I get a lot more distance than all of my mates with my Irons, and I think I attribute it to that but it could be a bad connection. I also notice that my stupid thumb tries together up on top of the club which always makes me hit bad. I'm trying to keep it out of the way. Anyways I was happy thinking I was going to do a lesson with you. Maybe next year when you aren't booked. I'm wondering how we communicate and you watch my swings at the same time. Is it like a face time through the laptop?

Thanks for taking the time to feedback Paul

I've gone from being a confident driver user hitting 7 out of 10 fairways with decent distance to now hitting 2 in 10 and yet I've no idea why. This video has those little details which I've been searching for so hopefully I can get my driver game back. Cheers pal, best golf video dude out there by a mile

Another masterclass from Danny. He's a legend. Gonna give this a try. Thanks Danny.

Amazing! Can't wait to try it out on the range đ
I hit some of the best drives of my life today. Your illustration of swinging the door open and closed was my main swing thought when I pulled my driver, and I immediately saw improvement. Thanks Danny .. thanks for loving the game and sharing with us !!
Thatâs really great to hear well done
Thanks! Bought those Footjoys last week...same navy blue...
Thanks for the support Chad
Thanks Danny! Swinging like a door, what a simple swing thought keeping everything together!
Hope it helps David
Ball position creeping forward with driver and fairway woods causing the slice and not getting the loft on the ball is another đĄ moment. Thanks for another superbly clear lesson Danny.
Thank you John, all the best
Same... I am off to the range
GREAT LESSON..A COMBINATION ..PHYSIC AND GEOMETRIC....GREAT..THANKS

Excellent explanation all the things that I and I'm sure a lot of other people do and Paul! Especially being able to get the nearly straight flight with a slight fade.
Another superb video. I love how you talk about 'feel' more than just technical points. It really helps. A question - what mat is that where you can put in a tee?
Ever since I followed your shoulder video in 2019 and drove the ball 285 (but was never able to repeat; would welcome a repeat of that vidoe) I have watched your videos. I have issues with shallowing and lowering right shoulder. Hope this helps.
Love to hear how you get on Jeffrey
I forget which video it was might've been this one... There was a drill that you said to train your body what you want it to do at impact so your body knows what to do at impact! One of the best drills and tips! I put it into practice and pre-shot routine!
Excellent, thank you Danny! Exactly what I struggle with and you explain it so well. Cheers! đđŒđźđž

Danny hats off to you for coming up with these amazing tips and tweaks every week and deconstructing the whole swing into simple elements. I am practicing these at the range, though I am sadly not still able to draw the ball! hopefully one day soon with your videos.
Thanks Rakesh appreciate the support đ
Danny love the videos both my driver and iron shots have improved vastly. Iâm a decent ball striker always struggled for distance on driver. Really helping recent one where you said hands put driver up body turns the driver has really helped. A previous one you did with medicine ball throwing out to right was to create arc was such a natural swing thought. Can you do a video where those two come together. Hope you can help. Cheers Gary
Please check out his older videos also. I was able to increase my range on iron and I m significantly improving on my driver. Danny is the best online instructed. I am a non native English speaker and yet was able to follow his instructions and improve on it.
Thanks Sager appreciate the support !
Good point about the shoulders and forearms affecting clubface at impact. This week and last week's video really helped me with the driver. Thanks Danny!
Thanks Howard đ
Great video - really good explanation for hitting on the arc. I have experienced far more hooks lately with the driver so this video is very timely.
Love to hear how you get on Rich
Thank you for implementing the first person view to your videos they are very helpful for visualizing setup, swing path and impact.
No problem Bobby đ
Thanks Danny, a bad day at the course today so as today the driver was woeful this lesson came at just the right time!
Love to hear how you get on Chris
Played yesterday and this was all me. Back out today full of confidence, cheers Danny!

Very good again, thanks Danny.
Thanks Pavel!
This is great help Danny and addresses the exact same issue I have as Paul with the slice. I'm often off-balance, with too much momentum often forcing me to step backwards at the end of the swing.
Thanks Bob đ
Great vid mate! Itâs gonna help with my inconsistent drives!

Excellent video Danny in finding the balance in one's golf swing! Since viewing your "arc" demonstration in another of your videos, I have been working on this move. I'm getting the consistency I want, which is to hit fairways, but I'm still not liking my distances. Always learning from your videos Danny! Keep up the good work!!!
Thanks John đ
Very good driver tips! Thanks!

Terrific explanation of how right shoulder moves in the downswing! It's a common swing fault that never gets talked about.
Thanks Rob!
Thank you for another very helpful video.
The correct shoulder angle to avoid a power leak was really valuable.
Thanks Alan đ
Man this is exactly what Iâve been needing. Iâm having this same issue of having gone from right to left. Strangely enough, the trees on the left side of the fairway look much like the ones on the right side. Itâs going to be a great thought for me as I ready to head out to the course, this morning. Brilliant!
Well done đđ
Great video Danny !!

A very Great video. All you need to know about slicing, hooking and maximizing your power all captured in one video.

Excellent explanation on the driver. Thank you for all of your hard work to bring us this content. I've learned the best tips from the way you explain the golf shot and also honorable mention Alex Elliot. The two of you have helped me understand whats going on more than any other channel. I watch everything you put out and my swing has improved a lot the past few months. I actually had 4 pars in 10 holes my last round and I'm typically a double bogey golfer.

Great explanation as usual Danny. I only started hitting straight drives when I understood d-plane and that I needed to swing in to out with the driver just to hit it straight.

Beginning at the 5:00 min mark on Danny explaining about how coming in late thru the arc and hitting more underneath with the trail shoulder instead of over through the impact area is a game changer. It single handedly fixed my drives at the range yesterday, where as before i was hitting all over the place inconsistently with my driver I was rarely on the fairway. Canât wait to hit my driver on the course this weekend. Canât thank you enough, thank you Dannyđ
Thanks happy to help đ
Thank you for your fine teaching Danny! I would like to see a video from you on where to place the ball in your stance based on each club and iron. One on hitting with fairway clubs specifically would be great too. I get mixed advice from buddies on these two topics. :)
Good idea Matt đ
Great video. I struggle with more of a hook/snap hook with my driver. Any suggestions are appreciated. Thanks!
Hey Danny, I know you get a million comments but I gotta tell you I took this lesson to the range today and I cannot believe the difference a small change in setup can make! Thank you so much. FWIW Iâm always evangelizing your lessons on r/golf; this isnât the first time youâve helped me.

This is the tip Iâve been looking for all year. Crushing my irons currently but keep hooking my drive. Softening the right elbow and getting the shoulders aligned. Makes sense
Thatâs wonderful
Hey dannny really been struggling with hitting up on the driver you got any good tips for me
Bloody hell - thatâs a timely one Danny!
This one will help Jonathan, howâs it going your end
Great Video Danny, but did you say the new ball position (driver) was two inches inside the lead heal? I have been told to align the ball with the inside of my lead heal when using the driver.
Previously i am ok with driver and bad with iron , now it is the other way round , you name it, every possible avoidable mistakes came to my driver, don't know whether it is mind over matters, i just cant hit it proper anymore or something is missing. I guess going back to basic is the only way. Anyway, thanks to your tips on iron and much more consistent now...but..sigh. lost the driver feelingđ
Always go back to basics first
@@DanielMaude Will do, just wanna get the feeling back
Sweet Danny!
Thanks John đ
Great Video Danny. I struggle with the Driver as I fade it with not great distance. Its the only club in the bag that I do fade, most other clubs have a straight flight path. I hit my 5 wood nearly as far as driver. Any thoughts on my Driver? Thanks
Very informative as usual Danny. Lately Iâve been guilty of pushing the occasional drive out to the right resulting in missed fairways. Iâm right handed and driver is usually my best club and play with a baby draw. My mates have pointed out that Iâm aligning my feet and shoulders too far right which Iâve come to realise to be spot on. In other words Iâve been overdoing the draw shape in my head. This vlog is a timely reminder for me especially the focus on the shoulder alignment. Many thanks đđ»đŠđș
No problem Grant thanks for the support đ

Thank you Neil đ
Wow Danny, this is exactly what happened to me! I have struggled with a slice forever and from watching your videos and some others I managed to get rid of the slice and now I'm hooking đ€Ł. Hopefully this helps, thanks!
Hope it does Timmy đ
I havnt played in about 5 years or so.i thought my swing was good, but watching some of yr videos made me think otherwise.. the thing I struggle with is how much of a bend to put on my legs. And how far from the ball my feet should be..so I just used to try all methods until I started hitting the ball straight..and then someone came along and said im doing it all wrong..so had to re learn.then someone else come round n said yr doing it wrong..so clubs went in boot and jacked it in..well im back and eager beaver to try again.. so here I am watching you ( the correct way) now I have to learn again đ the worst thing for me is people watching me (psychological)...then I get all tense and end up fluffing it. Anyway id love to see you with a cheap set against yr own set to get yr personal opinion... ive paid a little over ÂŁ400 for my set, darnt go no more incase I cant muster it. But be nice to see a pro hit cheap clubs..people think if they buy better expensive clubs it will make them play better. But thats not the case.. anyway im waffling.. cheers for yr great videos mate.please keep them coming..
Thanks Stevie appreciate the support đ
Great video as always Danny đ I think you hit part of my issue with my shoulders. I can hook draw or slice with the next shot. My issue is with how much power I hit the ball with. I can control it pretty well if I dont swing hard but when I do swing harder and think I have it right it goes out of control again. I do believe your correct with my positioning and setup. I am playing at1pm today we shall see. đ
Good luck Brad đâłïž
@@DanielMaude This did help! I am starting to get it dialed back in đ
I have exactly this problem. Always hit a slice and never a draw. I have had so many lessons from different pros, watched a ton of content too. Yet for me it is totally mental. I start the backswing, the arms take over and I swing over the top. Sometimes I pull a straight shot way to the left but mostly I slice to the right. We have a lot of enclosed tee boxes framed with trees so I cannot start the ball far enough left for my slice so I donât hit very many fairways in a round.
I doubt even Danny could fix me because I cannot overcome the need to swing with my arms sadly.
Danny, excellent video as always. I do have one question for you that no one seems to touch on, which during the setupâŠwhat is the proper distance to stand away from the ball? I know when Iâm on the course, if I hit a slice or a hook (yes, both happen), I sometimes feel Iâm either too close, or Iâm reaching for the ball. I believe this can also lend itself to poor ball strikes. Can you mention something about that? It would be good to hear your perspective. I tend to say to myself âstay within yourselfâ and it reminds me to keep tempo as well as not reaching or crowd the ball. Anyway, thanks again, your lessons really help all of us out here on our own!
Happy to create a video mentioning this
Thanks Danny always some interesting tips for us weekend hackers keep âem coming

Well I typically donât enter comments but I must sayâŠ.Danny really knows how to put himself in the position of the golfer at piece by piece dissect the problem, cause and solution. Iâve been golfing about 10 years and finally (this year) âŠ.mostly thru trial and error (often frustrating ) ..figured out my driver. I wish I had this particular video years ago. It covers so much of my golf journey but with clarity and purpose. Will be passing this on to both my sons who continue to struggle with the slice and power leak. Well done. You are a true golf instructor (not just a golf pro).
Thank you very kind đ
Great video, thank-you. Could you do a video to highlight the swing differences between a driver and a mid iron?
Thanks Alan and good idea đ
Thanks Danny. Great as usual. Quite how I keep 365 swing thoughts in my mind on the tee is my problem. Keeping the shoulders straight is what I'll concentrate on as is seems the more forward the ball the more I turn my shoulders left and slice, especially woods. Please keep the advice coming.
Thank David will do đ
Hi Danny! I have a 12 degree driver but my ball flight is very low and it leaks to the right near the end. HELP! Thanks for all your great video lessons!!!
Driving consistency is my nemesis with misses both left and right. I will work with these tips to establish a balanced swing routine. I think I tend to overlook my shoulder and forearm alignment. Thanks Danny.
I hate the driver also. Forever I just put the 3 iron and ripped it, but obviously yardage doesn't compare.
Happy to help Jim đ
Good stuff

Good one! Nice visuals.

@@DanielMaude since last spring, I am hitting my irons much straighter, and a touch longer. Driver is a little longer too. Just letting you know, and giving you update for your great videos. Thank you Danny!
Exactly my action against slicing. Instead of working the trail shoulder underneath, my swing and feel thought is trail hand under lead hand into the impact zone.
Like it Albert
I think I also struggle with an overactive trail shoulder. But when you gave the uppercut example it made perfect sense. I just imitated it and felt an 'aha' moment, that this was a component of my swing that I was not executing correctly. I hope I can get 20 more yards too!
Well done Ian đ
I've been working on the up swing into the ball and the pivot completely forgetting about forearm alignment. But I am starting to get better contact and lift. Still work to do though. I really need to catch up to these guys I play with.
You can do it Lewis
Simple arc training guide looks like to good practice purchase, where can I buy one??
Danny ! Help!
I understand this thought but Iâm so confused on what to focus on in my swing!
Do you think of the hands or club head?
In my case, I'm going to think of Danny as a 'Raider of the lost arc!' I used to naturally hit a draw which often turned into a big hook & spent years working on hitting across the ball. Unfortunately, I went completely the opposite way lost & can see from this simple but brilliant demonstration that my forearms are misaligned & my right shoulder is moving away from my body. The image of an uppercut really helps to understand what the correct position should be.
More than anything, it makes me understand that experimenting with where you hit the ball on the arc is so important in developing your skills.
đ thanks David đ
I was hitting some draws yesterday. Kept the face square as well. Made me ecstatic since that just really doesn't happen for me. It's helping me keep the ball a good bit lower too. If you saw me hit a 4 iron you may think I was actually just hitting like a long 50degree... It's actually a pretty cool sight to behold. Helps getting over trees(; Though I am trying to get that low shot into my game. If it's windy out I'm in trouble.
Well done Dilly đ

Hi Danny itâs not Paul your talking aboutâŠitâs meâŠnow going to the range đ
đđ
That will explain why I was hitting 50 yard slices last week. Lol I should have known it was my timing and ball position. I'm gonna try this today and work on timing as well as tempo and ball position with driver.
Hope it helps you Michael đ
Interesting video: in my opinion the driver swing is as different from iron swings as is the putting stroke, and for us amateurs too many teaching videos fail to impart the proper method for driver success
Absolutely, they are completely different
Great video, Danny! I really struggle with face control, specifically with driver. I try to control the face primarily with the top hand (righty - so left hand) but still have an open face at impact no matter how much I bow the wrist. What do you consider your primary âsteering wheelâ for the face? Top hand, bottom hand, forearm, combination? Thanks!
Mostly forearms
@@DanielMaude I just practiced this in my backyard and FINALLY started to draw the ball instead of a slice for over 70% of my practice shots (others went straight or slight hook).
