  • If you struggle to hit driver straight or happen to be the shortest hitter in your group it's because you have a driver technique that is too complicated.
Learning to hit driver longer and straighter can be super simple if you follow this 3 step speed booster program Danny Maude shares in this golf video. There are only two things that cause a golf ball to curve.
    1. The club face is aiming in the opposite direction to the path at impact
    2. You strike the ball off the heel or the toe of the golf club
In this golf video Danny Maude reveals how with just a couple of simple changes to your set up and golf swing you will immediately see how to hit driver straight

    ABOUT DANNY
    -----------------------
Thanks for stopping by. I created this website as a resource just for you to support you on your golfing journey as I know how tricky learning this game can be…to say the least!
I personally found learning the game too long and difficult in the early days. I read all the books, watched all the videos but my game was not improving. Then after studying various forms of neuro science, motor learning, psychology and personal development in less than two years I went from struggling golfer to the final stage of the Open Championship.
On CZcams and my personal website (www.dannymaude.com) I will bring you the most up to date training, training that is getting tangible results for my clients right now. I don’t know where you are in your golfing journey, you could be just starting out or maybe your body isn’t as flexible as it once was or you’ve got ambitions to slash your handicap. Wherever you are I’ve created a place here you can learn, share your ideas, ask questions and get all the support you need to enjoy this great game.
Be prepared though. If its a quick fix you are after Im not your man. Here I will give you step-by-step advice that you can take straight to the practice ground and apply to the course but it will require you to get stuck in, screw up…a lot, practice some more and then watch those scores tumble
I’ve had the pleasure of coaching thousands of students all around the world and if you are up for the challenge and are ready to get in the game…LETS GO TO WORK!

Danny!! This was the best explanation I’ve seen!! I’ve watched so many videos with zero success but this did it for me. I’ve been slicing my driver so bad I stopped using it and stuck with my woods. I trusted the process one part at a time and it totally worked. Went from 10% straight to 75% with my driver, still got work to do but this isn’t bullshit mate!! Thank you so much!

Danny, these driver concepts have really helped me turn my tee shots into a strength this season. Slicing the ball off the tee is now the exception. One other thought that has helped me get my body moving in the right direction is to focus my weight of my lead foot to the ball of my foot when coming through the ball. Thanks for your consistent lessons!

I’m a long time subscriber of your channel And believe me ..I’ve watched all your driver videos and other channels helping ppl fix slicers. ( I’m prob the worlds best slicer ). It was so bad that I stop using my driver and 3 wood totally. I’ve given up. ( by the way I’m a high handicap golfer and just started golf abt 1.5yrs back )
On the way to the range , while my son was driving , I watched this video ‘ eureka !!! It worked. For the first time in my short golf journey , 80% of my drives went straight like an arrow. I’m over the moon !! Can’t wait to play in the course and hope to replicate it.
What helped me most is the “pushing “ of the hips diagonally and the swing thought ot hitting a draw. Once again thank you for your videos !!!

    Hi Danny
This is my number 1 problem with my driver which I have not overcome for over a year now! I don't hook left but just send the ball directly left which has exasperated me: this in particular if I tried to alter the face all I achieved was a monumental slice! I have found - just like your other videos - this one to be particularly informative due to your clear and detailed explanations. Why I think it'll work this time for me is that you break down a complex problem into specific steps that each need practice. Thanks for another invaluable video.
    Best regards from Peter

    Danny, Thank you.
I just wanted to share my experience with this golf video. I watched it on the ferry on my way to work yesterday and decided to put your tips to the test during a quick 9-hole round this morning.
For the first 5 holes, I stuck to my usual swing and battled with my usual slice. Then, with 4 holes to go, I thought, "What the heck, let's try Danny's tips now instead of waiting for the range." The results were instant and quite incredible! I've rarely hit a draw in my life, but implementing your well-explained advice, I hit 4 in a row-bang, bang, bang, bang, each centre of the fairway. My playing partners litrally couldn't believe it!
I've tried numerous methods to eliminate my driver since I have been playing golf, but your straightforward explanation really clicked for me. Admittedly, the feeling of hitting the ball to the right felt strange initially, but the results were well worth it.
Thank you so much for sharing your expertise. I'm excited for my round tomorrow to see if I can carry this newfound success forward. Looking forward to more great tips from you! Keep up the great work!

I started playing golf in 2006 and I'm 54 now. Since I started I always had a slice, or what I liked to call a power fade to make myself feel better about it. Always been able to hit it fairly far and still get an average of 270 meters (300 yards) + on my drives. My very 1st official handicap was 11 but it soon moved up and I basically stayed a 15/16 since then. Then about 5 months ago I watched a video of yours in which you demonstrated how senior golfers can get more rotation if they lifted their front heel in the backswing and their back heel in the follow through. Just after watching the video I went to the driving range and tried it, I hooked every ball and although that's just the opposite of my slice, it was the 1st time ever I didn't slice it. That Monday I played in my normal 4 ball and did the move with my heels...and for the first time in my golfing life I had a baby draw! In 6 weeks I moved down to a 8 HC (and still around 10 now) just because I started hitting fairways regularly. So maybe that heel movement was to get more rotation, but by doing that, I started getting my clubface in the right position more often and my swing path corrected itself by me doing it. So, just wanted to say thanx for that, much appreciated.

Watched this when it first came out ,and rewatching now as im planning on hitting range tomorrow…the key for me is remember the word “feel “ for that setup/swing and not going overboard . For me i had heard similar advice in the past but i went from the slicer swing into hook swing dramatically ..i was snap hooking so badly i didnt have time to fine tune things in one range outing before a round i was about to play…tomorrow is perfect for me to really try and dig into this ,am droppjng family a member at drs and need to waste time(couple hrs ) till pickup and range is ten minutes away … since i doubt ill be playing more this season up here in the north east usa , ive gotten emails from most courses saying they’re closed for season, i can spend a full range visit on just one thing at a time …slice off the tee first ,next time solid consistent contact in the fairway on long irons , after that chipping and putting (if can find a putting range 😬). Great video that i have saved in my golf playlist

  • @tomb4060
    @tomb4060 Před 5 měsíci

Another great video.I use the swing thought where I want to hit the inside of the ball and I'll incorporate this as well. On another note I keep on going back to the Pete Cowen video when you had him on. I immediately started practicing, loading the right shoulder, rotating the forearm and really hitting down on the ball. My only thought at this point is feeling it in the right shoulder in the downswing. I was so so at the range I took it to the golf course and didn't play as well as I normally did. My previous swing was good but I wanted better more consistency. Slowly but surely at the range I started to get it and the sound along with the distance and consistency was amazing. Yesterday I continued like I did since I've studied the video and it was the best golf I ever played. My approach shot, since my driving was always good allowed me to be putting for 10 pars and one 3 eagles. I didn't make them all but it was the most fun I had. The sound off the club and the divot, hitting the ball straight. Now I just need to find my distance with each club since I'm hitting it much further. Just shows you just have to stick with it. Thank you so much for that. And all the videos. When you finally get it and know the feel and you have that aha moment. It's wonderful

  • @maxamillion-td3im

Thank you so much, Danny. From 04:00 on, you start telling/warning us about the cocking of the wrist. Thus changing the club-face. Today on the driving range I forced myself to keep my wrist straight and fixed. A few things happened. Weird enough it added 20 or so meters to my range. But most reportedly the balls went straighter and straighter. I could not help it but chuckle my way through the ball-bucket. The accuracy that I gained with this notion is amazing. Thank you so much. The only thing I have to get used too is the arc that my club-head makes. It feels different now. At the top of my swing I feel that a little circle-motion with the club-head has sneaked in. Thank you so much. All the best.

This should be required viewing for every beginner golfer, before they even pick up a club. In fact the R&A and USGA should mandate that every. single. set. of new golf clubs be sold with a pamphlet containing a text-and-images version of this video. I only learned of these principles 30 long years into my golf journey. So much time (and so many golf balls!) wasted.

Another great video Danny. I was explaining to an old football friend of mine who was new to golf, about draws and fades and how they happen. I remember he was particularly skilled at free kicks so I said to him imagine you are wanting to bend the ball around the wall. Your run up is the path and how you shape your foot against the ball is the club face. He twigged straight away using that description. But the best bit of advice I gave him was to watch your channel and this particular episode. 😂

Danny, I’m now only an occasional slicer of the driver, as I have incorporated todays tip some time ago. But what really has seemed to pick up my distance and ball flight is the term I heard “ knuckles toward the ground”. This really improved my driver, and my irons actually as well. Maybe you can elaborate on that term a little in the future. It took me awhile to achieve it and I still have some inconsistency with it but it seems to work for me when I get it right. Thanks for all you do!

I’ve not played for 30 years but now 50 I want to take up golf again, hence watching your videos. I always used to fade/ slice , so this was a great video. Funnily your setup made your swing look very similar to Rory M! I’m sure people have said that before as it looks identical!

Just like to say thanks Danny. My driving can be erratic so I went straight to the range and tried that. Certainly made a difference and will be working on it further. It’s certainly a mind problem intending to hit it right. Just needs fine tuning now.

Thanks Danny. Great lesson on driver fundamentals. What is so good is that there are no golf cliches such as ‘ toe it in ‘ and ‘ cutting across it ‘ that confuse us learners. What do you recommend to add some speed once we have straightened out the flight ?

You keep reading my mind! I've developed a horrible closed face at impact again, costing me balls and ruining scorecard. No changes to setup or grip have helped it consistently. I'll give your tips a try. Hope they work! I'm pretty sure I'm trying too hard to "hit up on the ball" leading to an extreme in-to-out path. Do you have a suggestion for how many degrees in-out I should be training for? I'm using a launch monitor so I can shoot for specifics.

Another great video and explanation. I don't have a problem with either, just not getting distance. I'm 61, and on a driver when I hit it solid might go 220 - 230 yards. But it goes straight.

Hi Danny, Great lesson. Using the information from your earlier lessons on irons and fairway metals. For this driver lesson, should we do everything the same? At set up, trailing elbow tucked into stomach, trailing forearm pointing straight out, make your normal backswing. On the downswing, rotate trailing forearm into the back of the ball (i.e. pretend there is a putter grip on the shaft and the flat spot is on a 45 degree angle so your trailing hand is actually pushing down on the club at impact.) Thanks!

I like this one. Less about "Stand exactly like this because this is the fundamental way to golf" and more of a "everybody has a different swing, use this to start correcting yours." I do nothing but fade and slice with my driver. Hopefully this helps.

@@DanielMaude Hearing a loud crack in the driver, finally. Due to your videos. This one in particular has DEFINITELY stopped my slice. When I do connect, I'm more like 40% slice instead of 80% slice (wild improvement for 2 weeks). Can drive 200+ yards now. So, thanks! I keep posting links to these videos anytime I get a chance. 😆

After years of slicing (I am not sure if that is the correct word) with the driver I changed the grip a while ago and I was hitting straight left. I didn’t know what to do. I would either slide or hit straight left. Today I tried moving my hips forward and aiming right, as you recommend, directly in the golf course. I know you are supposed to practice first but I went straight to the golf course. It has been MAGICAL! If I tell you all my drives have been above 250 yards and straight as an arrow, you won’t believe me, and that’s all right. My wife was with me… couldn’t have a better day… THANK YOU VERY MUCH

  • @robertdavies7476

Ace video. I had been slicing for ages and someone suggested turning the toe inwards. I now have a white blob on my grip to remind me of my tum position (hope thats not illegal). And then yes it was going straight off to my left. I, by chance, corrected that with more weight on my left side. Your video encapsulated the things i was doing and wonderfully explains the why and how. Thanks. Rob.

Wow, I’m new to golf only played my 1st round in July. I quickly dropped to a 13.1 handicap (apparently a natural sportsman) my irons are generally straight, but struggle with consistent distance. My driver a complete box of frogs, I hit an average carry 240 yards but it could go anywhere generally a big slice. My local course has lots of trees lining the left side of most tee box’s which don’t allow me to compensate for my slice, the few holes that do allow me to aim left, typically I hit it straight into the trees on the left. I’ve watched lots of video’s fix your slice in 5 minute, follow this simple trick to never slice again, result, generally minimal gains then back comes the slice sometimes worse. This video is the 1st one to get me consistent results, I’ve never drawn a ball in my short golfing life, but trip to the range this morning followed your advice, boom longer hits right to left shape, shot after shot right to left draw. I was even able to control it. 70 with the driver 65 did what I wanted them to do. I thought too good to be true, so I decided a 2nd trip to the range once again right to left movement when I wanted to. I was even able to adjust try grip to go straight. I was easily carrying passed the 250 yard marker with the range balls, I can not wait to hit the course now.
