- I forgot to mention few things like Spoiler on the back of the car or splitter struts on the front bumper. But at least this video isnt about my mods but about reliability, costs and my ownership or how happy I am with it. And I am well happy with it so hopefully you enjoy watching this video as it took me while to make it as I am no PRO ..:)

Thanks for the info! I'm watching this expecting to see issues with the engine, but seeing your only issue is with the brakes, I'm glad that I have the 308 GT with 205 hp and without these huge brakes. The 308 GTi seems like another beast and amazing.
I didn't even have issue with brakes but I prevented it changing brake caliper pistons pal. I've got car for 7th year and not a single issue

Going to get my callipers checked out! I bought the car from Peugeot and they said that they had already been replaced under warranty. I may upload a video of my 308 GTI, it’s cat back straight pipped and sounds fucking awesome. I feel like people need to hear it!

Fantastic review! this was the review i was looking for. In the market for one within the next 4 months hopefully. Really got my heart set on one of these. Never really been a fan of french cars had stupid amount of cars as i get bored easy currently bmw m140i ( fast but handles like a boat) and i fell out of love for it after 7 months of ownership. Did really like fiesta st180 which i had 245bhp but to small for kids. Anyway the wife got a pug e2008 and its really nice apart from i want a hot hatch thats practical and is decent on fuel.

I have a Peugeot 308 1.6thp 125hp 2013 mk2. And having issiues with idle. Ive changed belt, timing chain, and i still cant figure out whats wrong with it. Has any of you guys had that problem. Please let me know.

Great, thorough review man. I've been considering buying a second hand one of these or a new Hyundai i20N. Still in 2 minds. Almost seems as if the 308 GTI was Hyundai i20N's blue print! I'm sure the engine of this car is far superior.
Oh mate 308 Gti is miles better and much more spacious, practical car too thanks to 470l big boot. Car is absolutely brilliant no issues whatsoever in 4 years

Any issues with the Steering blocking visible on the cluster ?
Thanks pal no I never had issue with the view on the cluster. I sit quite high so that might be why 😅👍 but tbh I see all info with my driving position.. Peugeot steering wheels are very specific so They won't fit everyone..as some people find difficult to see on the cluster..as They're really small and new ones are flat on top and bottom..that means it won't fit everyone's sitting position..fits me perfect 👍

Getting some new PS4S tyres. Getting the front 2 done. Is it essential to get all 4 done or will I still feel the benefit of the 2 news ones still.
Need to get a service so that’s why I’m asking because don’t really want to buy the 4 plus a major service.
Well its fwd so more important is to get front Tyres sorted 1st. If you don't wanna spend hundreds as these Tyres are 160£+/tyre then get front ones 1st .. But if I would be you get them all same time. They're amazing tyres! Definitely worth it 👍
@@ejdydmj1650 decided to go all 4 corners in the end. Haven’t got to “drive” in them yet warmed up so not really sure how they differ from the budget performance tyres that came with the car.
I want to do service stuff now. What do you think I should prioritise?
And should I do the gearbox oil. What quality because I’ve read some dealers use the wrong one. And it’s the same oil use in the LSD. So just get that done at the same time?
@@KING0SISQO there are not budget Tyres from factory on these cars pal 😅😃 Michelin Pilot Super Sport from factory 😃 great Tyres too but not good as PS4s. Lol I know they come stock with super sports. But mine didn’t from the dealer as it was a used car. They told me they changed the tyres and put bloody evergreen eu72 on them 😑
Just ironically I haven’t noticed that much in the dry difference but I’ve only driven about 2 miles in them 🤣

Agree pal. Cause most people are after Germans even if these are much better choice! Faster, more power than Golf Gti, better on fuel, cheaper, not bad maintenance either. Most important thing not boring as Golf! Amazing to drive too

@@ejdydmj1650 Has a great interior, (same steering wheel and gear stick as the 308). Handles corners really well, punchy engine (kept up with a 16 plate focus st the other day as I left a roundabout). Will do 40mpg which is good for a performance car. It's also relatively practical for a car of its size with a 300L boot. The only cons are the exhaust is not very loud, it also struggles in wet conditions a bit. Although that might be down to the Michelin tires I have.

Aup dude, picked car up today and its amazing, so nice lol. Only problem is when driving or stationary turning the wheel left and right theres clicking coming from the front.
Is this normal or is this something to be looked at.

I am thinking about buying one of these, but the potential issue with the calipers is putting me off. The car im looking at has done 140.000km and i have no idea if the calipers have been changed. I guess there is no way of checking them without taking the caliper off and taking out the pistons?

@@Nakke144 I can't tell you that pal as I had no issues whatsoever with car brakes or anything..there is guy called Ben Godney in 308 GTi owners club on Facebook as he developed brake discs for 308 Gti and he's refurbishing calipers for GTi as well so he'll be best person speak to about this
Got my pug in November 20 put it in for a knocking noise when putting it in reverse has anyone had the same noise sounds like linkage?

So tempted to buy a 2020 model right now.
2020 model is with GPF pal so less power, more weight. Mine facelift 2017 plate is lighter 1205kg and 272bhp compared to new 2020+ as They're 263bhp.

You can fit it yourself pal it's easy but you'll need proper glue and let it dry in dry garage for few hours if not it'll go 😅 I wouldn't do it myself cause the weather.. but if you got someone who has got garage then sorted 👍

Love your car and review ,have a one question does anybody know or do it front brakes complete swap with 340-350 mm brakes from other car like( like golf r or leon cupra) is it possible to do it ( because of cost of floating discs,pistons...and big price )
Thanks 👍😉 There is always options tbh as everything is possible but I wouldn't do it as these brakes are phenomenal. It's worth it to have them . I still have stock discs and it's been 6 years now. It's ready for new ones tho.. it'll be sometime this year in summer. You can get them from Godspeed brakes as well and They're lighter than stock discs plus They looks better as They got hooked design so 👍😃

Front splitter is Maxton design V1 but them front "bars" are called splitter struts. They got them on eBay. Loads different types and sizes. If that's any good for you 👍

I pick my new gti up 2018 plate on friday, covering 16500 miles.
Just found out from dealer the cars front calipers have been sent away to refurb as 1 piston in each calier had seized up.
Should i be worried 😲😲😲please help
Pistons in calipers should be changed if not you can buy new calipers and discs and that's expensive stuff..2k+...so rather pay 300£ for pistons from Godspeed brakes and you'll be absolutely fine 🙏 I changed mine year after I bought it and I had no issues whatsoever. Alcon in GTi used cheap material instead of stainless steel pistons that's why They corrode after while..so best way to go is to get them from Godspeed brakes and you're sorted 👍

Are you sure those spark plugs are the right ones shown in the video? ILKR8E6 ???? thought they should be ILZKR8C8G
Yes mate for remapped engine. 😉👍..
@@ejdydmj1650 Spark plug position on those you use are 1.5mm shorter than the recommended ILZKR8C8G, so spark is closer to the head/valves. Personally I wouldn't use them, Spark Position is paramount. Each to their own I guess ;)
Timing belt went bad on my 1.2, 130hp, year 2015 -only at 28000 miles, change it early vuz it might dissolve in the engine, also ut seems timing belt is better on newer models but careful with it, look it when you change the oil, its visible from down under, also might be visible from oil cap- look for any tear
That's completely different engine pal. I have service plan with Peugeot so all my service is done by them. So Its less worries for me.

I've got the 208 gti prestige. You reckon it's worth upgrading to the 308 gti? Or just stick with the 208?
Depends what you after pal. 308 GTi is better in every aspect. Bigger boot, more grown up , comfier, better interrior, faster etc..208 GTi BPS is only tiny bit playful but trust me 308 GTi BPS is amazing car and a lot of fun too.
@@ejdydmj1650 That's the thing I've struggled to find any faults with the 308. It does seem like it would be best kind of upgrade. I've loved my 208 so maybe a better version might be the right way

That's why it's all over CZcams and reviews by car journalists when it comes out (facelift)..so mine was pushed little bit by everyone 😅😅...

Popravde 308 GTi by si aj zohnal ale tento čo mám ja je dosť rarita keďže to je facelift model 1205kg ale bez GPF a so starým silnejším motorom. Čiže výhody z pred faceliftu aj faceliftu. Plus 2 farebný lak..ja som ani tu v UK 🇬🇧 nevidel za 4 roky také aké mám ja..

Asi týždeň dozadu som doniesol pre známeho predné kotúče. Namiesto 1500€ vyšli na 900€ 👍 stačí napísať. Ja mám svoje GTi už 7my rok a bez jedinej chybičky stále

Prepáč, že ťa oslovujem cez you tube, ale nikoho nepoznám v mojom okolí kto vlastní toto auto. Mám záujem kúpiť si 308 gti, ale jazdenku. Tak 3-4 roky starú. Prosím ťa, na čo si mám dávať pozor, má toto auto vyložene nejakú slabinu. Mal si z niečim problém, čo motor. Ďakujem ti veľmi pekne za odpoveď a nech ti auto dobre slúži.

14k on the clock and my calipers were seized only done 1700miles in it thankfully peugeot sorted it out for me £2800 Bill for them 😬🤣
