The 308 is an awesome car in every sense: great manual change, great feeling at the pedals, great feeling at the wheel, great design both inside and outside, great materials inside (not a noise in 3 years, comfy seats, few signs of wearing, soft plastics), tons of space, light chassis, great technology (gotta love the full LED lights)... it's not far from being the perfect hatchback (maybe the not-so-good navigation system and the laggy tactile screen keep it from that). I own a diesel (115hp) and I'm extremely happy with it. The chassis definitely can take so much more... I considered swapping my gas-saving car for a 250/270hp racing machine but I am not rich and my rational side won. Incredible car, deserves so much more praise that it gets from the german-loving press... such an all-rounder, and that engine on the GTi... it's only a 1.6 but it's so powerful at low, mid an high revs and sounds so much better than others.... from what I've seen and read it can definitely kick the ass of most competitors. Very possibly up there with the best from Seat (Cupra 300), VW (Golf R) and Renault (Megane Sport)
This comment is so wrong, while I am a fan of weight saving, engine is a piece of crap (still love it and have 2 versions of it, but would not recommend to average user) pedal feel meh, steering feel ok for modern cars, meh compared to good cars, understeers too much, but still unstable in fast corners (you were awsome once PSA, so why?!), interior and small not round wheel are shite, and yeah, to give you some credit, exterior design is awsome, but would prefere 3 doors...

308 GTi understeers?? What kind of tires were you on? For a front wheel drive car - the 308 Gti does not understeer much in either low or high speed corners in comparison to the FWD competitors. (Cupra, Golf GTI versions, Megane RS 280, Focus ST) Also the LSD is pretty aggressive and very effective out of corners

Took my GTI down the country lanes, car came alive, handled so well, surprised me at times & massive smile on my face. Very underrated car…
That is what I like about this car, it's not the most powerful but it's a fully optimised sport package, chassis, suspension, brakes, gearbox, steering....
You feel safe and in control, you can push.

I have the same car, it's pretty epic, thanks to Peugeots clever weight saving, it actually has a better power to weight ratio than the Golf R. really enjoy driving mine, doesn't have AWD but the limited slip diff is the next best thing.

have to say, watched a few videos of people running the ring but always got quite bored and switched to something else. however I was routed to the screen. you drove really well and to keep up against the four wheel drive and more powerful gold was quite astonishing. and yes, I noticed you also had passengers. also that golf had a rollcage fitted from what I saw, so who knows what else has been done. looked like you could have done with a slightly stickier front end and I reckon you would have beaten it. great fun to watch and a nice camera angle. I have to say I was at on the edge of my seat routing for you. nice one.

Like josh says its a Front wheel drive (but pushes 100% of power to the front wheels alone...) Anyhow go check videos on it on my channel! I own it in Carbon steel grey & loads of options! ;)

Je serai curieux de les voir sous la pluie, sans DGL elle a pas beaucoup de chance la golf. A ce prix ils se permettent de ne meme pas en mettre, a croire qu'ils se moquent de leur clients, mais bon ils aiment ca.
Tu dis "ta 308 gti" je n'en ai pas, je n'aime pas les moteurs sous assistance respiratoire, rien ne vaut un bon atmo
Les performances sont exactement identique entre la club sport et la 308 gti que ce soit sur du 0-100 ou de la vitesse max, sauf qu'avec le torsen la 308gti est mieux armé sur circuit, après je comprend qu'on puisse préféré la clubsport ne t'enflamme pas :)

depends in what context, build quality yeah perhaps. value for money, especially second hand 308 270s, the pug hands down is far better value, depends what you want in a car. having said that if I could get a golf R for the same money as a 270 I'd be a hard choice

The best thing about those Pugs is their gearing ratios. They're short and dynamic, something any other manufacturer is avoiding now to make their cars more efficient..
Excellent driving :) you have got to love that little 1.6ltr engine, it loves to be revved hard and it shows just how well it goes with a car like the 308 GTI 270 against more powerful and bigger capacity cars, and can hold its own (with 4 people in it!!)
Just a shame that Peugeot have not sold more of them as they are an excellent motor, I bet when they face lift them and add the i cockpit 2 (its a great place to be), it will end up selling more as they have fixed the slight issue of the steering wheel just interfering with the instrument panel (and you have to be very picky to say that it does).
On an off note Bradley, have you tried the new 3008 SUV yet? Love mine and my RCZ R :)
The fuck? Its still the same bmw/peugeot engine which has been used in the 207/208/RCZ/Mini Cooper /Citroen DS3 and so on. Isn't it? That one caused a lot of problems in the past

Tony B When I first drove the GTi, it bugged me that the wheel obscured the speedo. But since buying one, I realised you have to set the wheel lower, which is fine as it's tiny and has a flat bottom so it doesn't interfere with your knees. Now it's perfect!
Paul Hawkins agree with you but i really hope the i cockpit 2 makes it over to the 308 replacement as its even better and no need for the adjustments you have to do now :)

Great Peugeot
The car is great. As a former Mk6 Golf GTI driver, I drove it a year ago. Best car Peugeot has developed in the last decade easily. It's refined, its lovely. Too bad I had to go for an Estate, so I ordered a Leon Cupra ST 300 FWD Manual, but the 308Gti is really in my heart. I have also driven the GTI Clubsport. It's a very good car. But it's expensive if you load it up. The 308gti is very rare but I love the lightweight high reving 1.6T and due to its lightweight the 330NM feel really strong. In terms of buildquality it almost like a Golf GTI Mk7, very good and way better then the Megane RS or Astra J OPC or Focus ST/RS. Love it! Great driving as well! Will you be more often in Germany?

Very good driving here, but I do have to say that pretty much anyone can be passed in whatever they are driving if they have little to no knowledge of the track which is clear in the case of the golf driver. I know the feeling as I haven’t been on it enough to learn it fully yet and get passed by cars a lot less capable than mine but have a capable driver. There is a compliment in there by the way!

@@Kjenep yes - no fade - they’re amazing brakes as standard. Then I drove the car back to the UK.
Do you know what kind of time you can put down on an empty track with no passengers, for comparisons sake?
Paul Hawkins it's tough to say because it's so rare to get a clear lap, and I always have passengers, but I'd be confident of 8.00 BTG in this car.

Excellent driving, congratulations, on an excellent car. Tell me about the tires, were they showing signs of excessive wear after this? How did they handle? From what I can deduce, they were excellent.
No noticable wear really. They are the standard Michelin Pilot Super Sports that come with the car. Excellent tyres.

For the Nordschleife and an FWD car you are a little to rough on the entry, you could scrape a few secs of it by just being a bit smoother and easing of the brakes a tiny bit earlier. Take it from a fellow driver. Still awesome video in my second favourite Hot Hatch.
I could also get rid of the 300kg of passenger ballast ;)
