That reverse rev counter would do my head in 😂
You get used to it pretty quickly tbf, I don't mind it now on my GTi 😂
Except if you're a bit slow in the head, you adapt instantaneously and it feels the same as a normal rev counter i can jump in and out of the 308 gti to another car and don't even notice something is different
It actually makes more sense when you get used to it because the needle is in the center of your vision.
I thought that also, but got used to it in first two minutes 😊
Analog speedo on the other hand is completely useless! Waste of space... It looks nice but is unreadable, you have to pay full attention on it if you want to read it. Thankfully, digital one is there 😂
I never had problem with that and I own this car for 7th year now 👍😅
I've got one of these, nice to see them finally getting some recognition! They're so underrated, brilliant cars
how is the reliability?
@RichardJ.Schueler not bad! I've had a couple issues with mine but I found out a while after I bought it that it was tracked several times and not maintained properly, so that's mostly been to blame. On the whole they're pretty solid cars
@@asmedia5220 seems like a very good daily, thanks
@@RichardJ.Schueler i rented one for 3 days it's superb in many aspects except the suspension is too stiff for daily use! otherwise very good car.
Peugeot has long made some really solid hot hatches. the 205 GTi was a fun little thing. it's great that they're keeping it alive with the modern series
Alcon brakes and LSD as standard just like the RCZ R. What a superb machine it was on track. Peugeot have made some cracking machines over the years, this is definitely one of them. 👌 Allez la France..🇫🇷
RCZ with the 1.6 thp the problem motor🙄, the Audi TT wanabee, give me an MX 5 with RW drive, not a car with FW drive.
Peugeot makes the most underrated GTIs I would say. Both the 208 and the 308 are absolutely fantastic cars to own, I know few people that owns at least one of them and they are definitely giving all the VAG cars run for their money. The 208 GTI apparently has a very very good fuel consumption as well which is something you wouldn't expect from a car with that kind of performance. Most people are drooling over Polo or Golf GTIs and Cupras but they forget the French companies make insanely good cars to drive and own.
The 308 GTi has great fuel consumption too! Averaging 38mpg atm with mine and I have a heavy right foot 🤣 I've seen 55mpg+ on a motorway run
@@asmedia5220 It's crazy. I have a friend with a 208 GTI which not only can use lower octane than my Corsa OPC which must run on 98 by what the manufacturer set, but he still gets much much better fuel economy than me all around. It's un-proportionate to what I have and we still have the same engine displacement in size and power.
@@royliber3824 makes no sense 🤣
Yep my partner owns a 208 GTi and she thinks it's on the rally track at all times. 45mpg average. Seriously crazy efficiency
Not sure if you've owned a French car before but they are notoriously unreliable and expensive to maintain. Most people aren't gonna pick a French car when the Japanese or German alternative is similar price brand new, and doesn't plummet in resale value. I'm speaking from experience having owned a Citroen xsara vts (second hand) because it was dirt cheap. One of the worst cars I've owned. Never steered straight and super unreliable. Mileage wasn't even that high, bought it at 82k km, sold at 110k. French food is good, cars are generally rubbish.
And the tires singing " maximum attack " the entire lap let's us know how good that "old" car handles
Bravo PSE ...and Misha
I think the E30 comment was an i30 Hyundai reference rather than a BMW e30 comparison 🤔 maybe translation of letters into English was askew? Looked like a fun lap either way 👍
this comment should get pinned
Correct, actually he mentions Hyundai right after asking the "I30"
Yeah, in French the letter I is pronounced like the English letter E, so it wouldn't surprise me that he was talking about the i30N
@@its_Tazz Same in Dutch, which Misha speaks
How does this compare to a i30n?
1:41 hearing a full grown big bicepsed man saying "c'est parti" in a childish way enlightened my day 😂
308GTI 270 is such an underrated hot hatch, it's pretty much a TCR with back seats.
there´s a nice video of a 308 going after a TCR...with 4 people...
Is it better than a Golf GTI of the same years?
@@lakinnenlako6883 Yeah it's got more power better brakes and is better set up
@@teabagtowers3823 👍
Going to get mine 2018 308GTI tomorrow 😍
Get a garage to check the condition of the pistons in the 4 pot front calipers ASAP & consider upgrading the pistons to Godspeed Brake's Stainless Steel Pistons set which they sell/produce...
It'll save you some money in the long run.
The OEM pistons in the 4 pot calipers are prone to failing/seizing... Which will cause/causes premature wear on the discs and pads and they'll then also need replacing sooner due to the above.
OEM discs & pads from Peugeot are very expensive, but (when they need doing/replacing) godspeed brakes also sell an alternative set which are arguably better performing and cheaper than the OEM discs/pads Peugeot offer...
It's definitely worth doing before anything else/asap (if they haven't already been done)
@@t011md95 nice info.
I really like the 308 GTI - it looks great, it handles even better, really good power, what more could you want, fantastic car. Cheers!
The only thing you'd want would be a 306... :-p
one question sir, what about reliability and maintenance
@@leandrorabellino7082 I don't own this car so I don't know. I've just said that I really like it. Reliability and maintenance - a lot about that depends on the previous owners and how you take care of the car - besides that show me a car that doesn't have any problems.
@@slashednoodles Haha, 306 is also an interesting car, especially with its lift of oversteer.
@@leandrorabellino7082 I own this car for 7th year and not a single issue. I have video on my channel. Long term ownership..👍 Great car and super reliable
Maybe I'm the only one but every day I wait for the Misha video to go to sleep, seeing him driving around the Nurburgring relaxes me a lot haha 😂
I do the same 😂
Great car. Peugeot has always had driving experience as a priority. I owned a 307 2.0L wagon 6 speed auto. On open road it was a delight. Drove back from ski fields on Sunday nights back to Sydney and overtaking was easy with torque to spare and classic Pug handling it was always a happy safe trip back.
Great to see the 308 was still fun. Looks like geared properly too.
The owner seemed to be rethinking his decision to have Misha take a lap in it 🤣 It was a great lap, but I completely understand being nervous when someone else is driving your car
Well I'd be too if I saw Misha looking for camera under the seat while pushing 150+ 🤣
Misha is great driver, nothing to be worried about.😂
@@tristanyoung1247😊 8:17
I own this car but facelift for nearly 7 years and not a single issue. Amazing fun and good as daily if someone want it to be. Fantastic cars! 🔥
what about the engine issues everyone is talking about?, it was the main thing that kept me out of one, despite being a very good drive; all those horror stories about engine failures...I guess for you they remained just that, stories of nothing has gone wrong with it in the last 9 years.
What engine failures? The one in the gti is probably one of the most reliable 1.6thp engines.
@@eugenux engine issues? There is no engine issues with these cars pal. These engines are solid They're nowhere near normal Prince engine if you think them. These are partly forged from factory so They're really good. I am on all 308 GTi groups and I don't know about single person having engine failure 🤔 there are guys with nearly 200k km as well. I know some too.
@@lok687 that's exactly what I just responded to him. I don't know anyone from 308 GTi groups having engine failures at all. Plenty of them driving on circuits too and all good
I remember watching your reviews about the car, told you i had a GT. Tomorrow i will get my 2018 GTI 🔥🔥 also Coupe Franche
Bravo Misha-Drujee! I just got one of these-The dream came thrue for its class! Huge Congrats to Peugeot Sport Division! Absolute Great driving performance Misha-many thanks.
Finally 😅😅😅
I've said it many times here this car it's absolute peach of a hot hatch.
1200kg feels so nimble and light...brakes 380mm front!! Mechanical diff❤
I'm glad you liked it Man. I was actually looking at one today on auto trader. Such a bargain now. UK Broads weapon❤😊
They are a good 100 kilos more...
@melaniezimmermann-jv7th and where did you find that? Everywhere it say 1205kg ..
Obviously that's minimum kerb weight😉
@pk-dn5sj everywhere says 1205 but it is not the actuall weight. 1300 it is. Own one weighted one.
@@koenduro5578Do you have the pan roof &/or Denon sound system? They add huge weight. I have neither and have lightened my modified car so it’s close to the 1200kg. With over 300bhp & 400nm, it’s a wickedly capable car and surprises many in the road and track!
@pk-dn5sj Peugeot was being cheeky announcing 1T2, probably dry weight or something of the sort.
They had to tuned down the engine to 263HP towards the end and suddenly the new weight was above 1T3.
Because they were finally being realistic.
I've had mine over 7 years, love it, hard to find anything better 👍
I am thinking that I sell my 2017 bmw 430i for this car. This car is not premium but more reliable and has fun.
I had an 306 S16 back in the days, it was a banger too, still miss it
I owe one.
Not stock , a downpipe, Eibach suspension springs and Nankang AR1.
Crazy machine , definitely better than the others.
I have one too and believe me it’s not even close to type r or Megane rs or vw 7r
@@florijankuruc4327
U mean it’s better or worse 😅?
I think megane rs is definitely the best one @@yardenbandahan1272
Loved this video. Love the 308 GTI too. Pretty impressive when you consider that Peugeot always have engines one size smaller than others. In this case, only 1.6 liters when everyone else has 2.0 liters in this class.
Now I'm itching to see you drive a 208 GTi Misha pleaseeeeee
Really great video and amazing Driver ! We had a wonderful experience ! Grateful that you liked the car so much !
I have had my 308 250 GTi for 2 years now and it has been a pleasure to drive.
I've owned a few cars over the years but this is by far my favourite! its been very reliable for me and I have not had to spend a fortune on keeping it in good shape and maintained as required/ as per the recommended service schedules.
I've not owned a Peugeot before, yes there are better cars out there but for me and for my needs my GTi has been superb.
Its a fun car, in eco mode the power delivery is still there but when you hit that little "magic" sports button is when the car really comes to life!
Sharper throttle response, steering stiffens etc. You also get a dump valve sound between bursts of accelerating and depending on if you really give it some the pops and bangs come out! Handles brilliant, brakes are more than adequate, driving position is great, some do not like the steering wheel position/s but my desired steering wheel position has not caused any issues seeing the central cluster, comfort for me is great (added bonus of the standard massage seats for driver and front passenger) seats are great in general, interior is not cluttered. The driving comfort is what to be expected from a hatchback.
I find the car just wants to keep pulling all the way to its limits. For me a 1.6 petrol returning 250 BHP is simply superb.
I've looked at remaps (in the event I was to get "bored" of the standard 250 horses) and there is potential with a stage 1 to get 294 BHP & 381 Nm.
The only negatives for me is the Peugeot sound track included with activating the sports button, I understand the laws in place here in the UK for exhaust noise regulations but if what is being played in the car was actually what was heard outside it would surely be absolutely fine!! The standard sound system is ok but I have had better standard sound systems in my other cars!
the lap was crazy
Love the right foot when braking, the little blip on the gas when downshifting 😮
Omg ive been waiting for this, picking mine up in a couple of days!! 😊
1:40 as a french, i approuved your "c'est partis !" its clean
good lap misha
Madness, the company I work for makes the front brakes for that car, so good to see them in action on the Nürburgring
I got mine 2 years ago, and i freaking love it. It's the best car I've ever driven, especially for a peugeot
Always fancied one of these just as an alternative to all the other hot hatches and purely because i love a french hatchback.
lightest car in its category
That things so quick in the corners. Handling looks amazing
Love my 308 GTI….so much fun and handles beautifully
These cars are so nice. The standard Golf 7 GTI compared to 308 GTI feels like a normal Golf with a bigger enginie swap. Only the clubsport can match.
WHAT A CAR, this is exactly all the car most people will ever need
1:48 MY SAME REACTION!
Super nice flow! 👌
Such a sick vid bro
Didn't expect one of these to be this good on track. Nice car!
yeah, the French know how to make a FWD based car handle well. I recently had the opportunity to push a 508 PSE a little harder, handling was great too, which is not something you would expect from a wagon hybrid
duuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuudes, i thought of bringing my GTI over to have it "tested" by Misha ;) It's modified with around 320 swiss HP ;) and proper semi's...lol.
Do it please. 👍
Bisch aus St gallen?
@@Gokuuuuu13 nope
@@yanpeyer5686 dachte wärst ein Kolleg von einem Freund, der hat auch etwa 320 ps bei seinem 308er 😁
@@Gokuuuuu13 easy, viel mehr kriegst du "legal" aus der Kiste nicht raus.
Misha casually driving, no stress whatsoever. Owner looking as if he was about to puke from the very start. Well done gentlemen!
It's a good surprise, nice speeds for the power. I liked it 👍
I've got the Yokohama Advan Fleva too on my Mini JCW R56 manual (with same engine of this great Peugeot) and they are so performing and reliable...always trust japanese! 💪❤
Been waiting to see Misha to drive this a long time ago, insane!
FINALLY! One of the most underrated cars outthere...fantastic base...one important factor that people tend to forget is the weight...just under 1200kg...so withe 270hp...and an old fashioned suspension well tunned...you should try de RCZ R to to see the diferrence...
Fair play , nice drive .
Looked well composed. That reverse sweep rev counter would take some getting used to.
That's fantastic ! Finally a 308 GTI !
If you can get your hands on a 308 GTI By Factory, that would be a treat. It's basically a TCR version but for the street
Great lap,what a car is 308 GTI.😊
Rev counter just made my brain go into limp mode..
3:47 I think he meant like i30N by Hyundai, not E30.
wow it actually rips quite hard! sounds good too
Yo tengo el 308 GTI 272cv y tiene razón, cuando pruebas este coche, es mucho más de lo que esperabas
i have one of this. its has been remaped to 292hp and 413nm. I must say, with the Michelin Pilot Sport 4S, damn what a beast!!! Had the Pilot Sport 3's before and it is a no go! too much wheelspin, understeer even though the diff helps and a lot and lift-off oversteer. Once i changed to the 4S's i got a new car...
That must be a
'VERY nice to drive' car,
because that lap, particularly the back half,
(a biased favourite section) was beautiful to watch 👏👏👏👏👏
In a different world, I could afford to visit and pay good 🤑 for a spot on that passenger seat !
😎👍🍻🇦🇺
I was waiting for the nurb lap in 308 GTI by Misha!
In Poland, those who had 308 Gti got rid of them immediately when they found out how much brake discs cost LUL. I worked in one of the Polish workshops, "Peugeot Polska", and even they used the demo car as much as they could and then sold it - a nice and expensive surprise for the new owner.
godspeed brakes do a much cheaper front disk alternative to the oem.
How much it cost?
and also too stiff suspension for daily use lol
@@gospodinx6657 When the car appeared on the market, the cost of one brake disc was about 12k PLN = about 2.5k+ Euro.
Ciekawa sprawa. Ale pewnie myśleli: "skoro to jest Peugeot to musi być tanio" :)
I really wanted to hear your thoights on this. Lightweight with an old school torsen diff, can't go wrong tbh
Nice balanced car. Some Sticky tires is all it needs
What a great car. This car is underrated and now cheeper. 👍
no, reason is the thp motor that is a disaster in reliability
@@Kamui.. for example?
@@deutsch323 Problems with timing, turbo, cooling, cylinder head gasket. 1.6 THP is horrible
@@Kamui.. This isnt a THP youve talking about, its different engine with all the internals changed...
@@Kamui..Wrong. That was the Thp version of the engine. In the early days when BMW had it. It was co-developed between Peugeot & BMW. Peugeot there after ironed out all the issues. Zero issues with this 270bhp version. It’s truly epic.
I became a big fan of hot hatches and I am always happy when people choose not a VAG hot hatch. Cool car.
Now I would love to see you take a 208 GTI around the ring!
like every peugeot sport car, this 308 is incredible ! especially for a stock car :)
Swiss guy trying to show emotions 👌
YES YES YES FINALLY MY DREAM CAME TRUE.... no for real... thank you misha... I love my 308 Gti and always smile if I gap all the Golf GTI's and i REALLY wanted to see you drive it and give your opinion about it! Thank you from my heart.
250 or 270Hp?. I think 270 because the brakes.
Thats a great hot hatch
You must try a 208 GTI BPS
Thanks!
Jolie tuture!😊
always nice to see pugs on the channel
His driving is mesmerising
i drive a Pug208Gti and i LOVE IT *-*
Those rev matching😍🤌🏻🤌🏻😮💨
Its so funny to hear 1200kg is light nowadays, in the 90S my 1250kg CB7 was the heaviest Honda sedan, the big boy 😂, nowadays its a feather
I wasn't expecting it to be fast for what it is, nb France nb
When he sais "its like an E30" he wanted to say "I30N" in french I is pronounced E 😁
Good video
Finally!!! 🎉Now let's wait for the 208 GTi 💪
I cant wait
You should try rcz R. That will be the right suprise. 😉
It's a car that shines on track !
That would make a great Grp N racer.
They're indeed more to find on amateur rallyes than on the nurb
Mijn FIAT X1/9 had ook een tegengesteld draaiende toerenteller.
looks like you RLY enjoyed this lap 👍
Oh la la :) Allons-y!
That thing can move for what it is 😁
can't wait for the 208 gti it's more fun than the 308 gti and a more active rear axle
Remember when they made the 306 gti ...It turned better to the left than right, because of the 6 speed gearbox.
Great for a RHD car, slightly offsets the driver's weight causing the opposite issue (when you've got no passenger) 😄
306 GTi-6 is still my dream car, even after 3 years daily driving a Porsche! Just can't convince myself to put 10k miles a year on a car that old...
FFS, I hoped it’d have been my car that Misha got to try! Maybe later this year the man, the myth the legend can take my stage 3 car around the Ring! 👌👍
You also should drive the 208 gti
Very nice❤
That seat looks confortable.
I'd love to see the new M340i stock on your channel!
I miss the 206
🇲🇫 très sympa ce tour en 308 GTI ! M E R C I !❤
Finally dry lap without yellows
Already waiting for the next giveaway 😆. Cheers from Frankfurt
« C’est parti! » 😂😂
What was the lap time ? Can we get all or most of misha's times with different cars ? Thanks
when he said e-30 i think he meant (hyundai) i-30?
Yep. The french accent took the lead haha
